DW - Micromasters

Plot
Some of the Autobot Micromasters, including the Hot Rod Patrol are trying to rescue Roadbuster when some Decepticon Micros attack and one of the Autobots are killed. The rest of the Autobots escape and both teams head back to their respective bases.
Countdown and Groundshaker return to Cybertron following their long term mission in space and wonder what's happened on the planet, so they head to the Autobot base where they meet with Magnus and Fort Max, also explaining that Omega Supreme and Jetfire split off from their group (who were looking for Optimus and the Ark) and ended up on Paradron where they found a strange disk and fought with some Decepticons over it. They propose setting up a new space program (or something) to look for Optimus again, but the larger Autobots refuse, given the current situation on the planet.
The two Micromasters walk down the corridor and pass the Hot Rod patrol, who are angry about the recent mission and then they head to Magnus and Max's room to moan at them and are just dismissed.
The Decepticon Micros return to their base, where they are mistreated by the larger Decepticons, they go to Shockwave to complain, and he lies and says he'll deal with the problem, the the Micros decide to leave the Decepticons.
The Hot Rid Patrol get into an argument with the other Micromasters on the base and decide to leave the Autobots out of protest, and head towards Little Iacon.
On the way, the Hot Rod Patrol literally run into the Race Track Patrol and get ready to fight, when they all realize there's no point as they aren't really interested in the war anymore.
Suddenly two more Micromasters run towards the asembled guys, being chased by the Deluxe Insecticons.

The Micromaster Falcon is killed by Venom, the other Micromasters join forces to fight off the Insecticons until Groundshaker arrives in his ATV and scares off the Insecticons, the Autobots are asked to come with him, whilst the Decepticons stay behind to head to Little Iacon again. Shockwave arrives and offers the Micromasters protection and to return to the Decepticons. The Race Track Patrol decline the offer, but Flanker accepts it, however once the others are gone, Shockwave just throws Flanker to the Insecticons, who quickly gobble him all up.
The Hot Rod Patrol are taken to Countdown's base where he offers them a place at his side in a new mission he's starting up, but they decline the offer and decide to head off to Little Iacon as well.
The Autobots arrive at their destination, which is a secret Micromaster only club, where they hang out with the others, regardless of faction.
An argument starts up in the club, but Roadhandler calms it down by challenging Big Daddy to a race (don't ask me why) After a close race, Roadhandler wins. After the race, the Hot Rod patrol are being spied upon by someone, and elsewhere Skystalker and Skyhopper return to Cybertron as well.

The newly arrived Decepticon Micromasters meet with Shockwave and offer him their services, Shockwave helps the new Decepticons to find the artifact from Paradron that Countdown took with him by showing him footage of the Hot Rod Patrol, who were seen heading to Countdown's base before, so he plans to have those Micros implanted with a tracer and forced to reveal his location etc.
The Deluxe Insecticons attack Little Iacon and the Micromasters there fight back at them. Groundshaker and Countdown have an argument in Countdown's base because Countdown's taken it upon himself to keep the golden disk for himself and not give it to the Autobots for them to use.
At Little Iacon, the Insecticons offer the Decepticon Micromasters a job to help them capture the Hot Rod Patrol, which they accept, Blazemaster however decides to leave the Decepticons, which prompts him to be attacked and knocked out.
At his shuttle, Skystalker reveals to Skyhopper that he plans to depose Shockwave and take command of the Decepticons on Cybertron. The Hot Rod Patrol return to Autobot HQ and try to warn them that something's going on in Little Iacon, but are refused entry by some angry Micromasters, they decide to go and see Countdown for help instead
The Decepticon Micromasters attack Shockwave and Blitzwing in the command base, and take them down in their weakened states. Afterwards, all the Decepticons are called together for a meeting, but the Decepticon Micromasters are asked to come to the command rooms alone, where they find Skystalker and Skyhopper on top of the seemingly dead body of Shockwave.

The Hot Rod Patrol have gone to meet with Countdown and join forces with him if he helps them see what's going on in Little Iacon, whilst the Decepticon Micromasters fool the main Decepticon forces into thinking Shockwave has ordered a full out attack on the Autobots, when actually it's just them holding up Shockwave's severed head. The plan being that the Autobots and Decepticons kill eachother, leaving just the Decepticon Micros (I think), the other Micromasters don't seem too happy about this though.
The Autobots are at their base having a training program when the Decepticons begin their attack. The Hot Rod Patrol and their new allies break into Decepticon HQ and rescue the Micromasters captured by the Insecticons in Little Iacon. The combined Micromasters take down the Insecticons, whilst the Decepticons continue their assault.
Countdown finds Shockwave's head and ends up in a fight with Skystalker, but runs away when more Micros appear. The Decepticon Micros who were with Skystalker and Skyhopper join with the Autobot Micromasters and Countdown in his mission.
The battle is winding down due to the lack of energy and everyone is starting to die from the fight, when the Micromasters appear and show the head of Shockwave, revealing that the Decepticons are defeated.
After the battle, Fort Max decides that he's had enough and leaves the Autobots, whilst the Micromasters all leave to join forces with Countdown and his forces, except for Big Daddy, who decides to go off on his own rather than being anyone's underling.

And now I need to cry...WHY DID I READ THIS AGAIN!!! WHY?!?!?!?!

Notes
  • This is the last complete Transformers comic series to be released by Dreamwave....it shows
  • This comic is set between the end of War Within and the start of the G1 main series
  • So....the Micromasters have all taken on Earth modes Eons before the vehicles they are based on are even thought of....why couldn't they have Cybertronian modes exactly?
  • The Micromasters all seem to talk very oddly...it hurts my brain
  • The Micro's also seem to all be originally one separate faction and just joined the Autobots or Decepticons later (ie like Mini-Cons)
  • Basically, think of this series as a terrible version of the Armada comic
  • None of the fight scenes seem to have any real action poses...just very stale squatting poses...
  • Golden Disks, like the ones from Beast Wars appear in this story
  • Blitzwing is slowly still mutating into his triple-changer form here
  • Blazemaster starts this story as a Decepticon, but ends up joining the Autobots by the end
  • Even though it's not shown here, Shockwave MUST have gotten better after this story somehow, as he's the ruler of Cybertron again in the main G1 storyline.
