Plot
Tyrest is about to step through the portal to Cyberutopia, when Tailgate, who cannot hear the signal from Tyrests weapon jumps on his head and jabs his finger in the hole in his forehead, incapacitating him, Tailgate then turns off the signal, allowing the others to move again. Tyrest gets ready to kill Tailgate, but Rodimus points one of the claimed Legislator weapons to threaten him, and Tailgate pleads with him to just do it, as he's going to die from Cybercrosis within 2 days anyway. However the situation is put out of Rodimus' hands when Tyrest is shot in the back by an even smaller Minimus Ambus!
Outside, at the Smelting Pool the Circle of Light and Whirl fight off the Legislators, whilst Cyclonus goes on to challenge Star Saber, after a short battle, Cyclonus jabs Star Saber in one eye with his horn and prepares to kill him, but Star Saber teleports away at the las moment
Inside the Control Room again, Rodimus is shocked by Ambus's new appearance, and he reveals that THIS is actually his true form, and that he just had 2 body suits. Perceptor and the others get to work to try and reverse the effects of the Kill Switch, when Pharma escapes from his cuffs and heads to the portal. Skids, Rung and First Aid go after him, but Pharma reveals he can't go through anyway, as there's a forcefield, which Rung realises is similar to Aequitas technology, and only one without guilt, and flly at peace can pass through, which only Skids in the group matches, so he heads on through. After Skids has gone, Pharma taunts First Aids, and laughs about killing Ambulon, prompting First Aid to simply blast off his head. Rung consoles his distraught friend.

Rodimus is hooked up to the Kill Switch by Perceptor, who plans to use his Matrix half to reset the sparkcode in all the Cold Constructed Transformers, allowing them to be saved, but in the process it may kill Rodimus, and will certainly destroy the Matrix half. Before he potentially dies he wants to talk to Ambus though. Nearby, Swerve hears Tyrest talking, as he states "One, One". This causes all the Legislators to stop their attack outside, and rush to his aid.
Ambus reveals to Rodimus that he DID lure the Lost Light to Luna-1, but having Tyrest remotely access the armour to return it to him, rather than teleporting, so that they would follow, and Tyrest would knock some sense into Rodimus for his poor leadership style, this was of course before he knew Tyrest had gone coo-coo-bananas. Rodimus in turn reveals that he was involved in Overlord being on the ship, as Prowl basiclaly goaded him into doing it, b ut he promises that if he survives the Kill Switch reset, then he'll make amends. Perceptor activates the switch.
Skids, on the other side of the portal arrives on a strange world with several nearby metallic plants floating around, he is greeted by a giant multi-coloured spark who speaks to him in a strange language he doesn't understand.
The Kill Switch works, and all the Cold Constructed are returned to normal, all across the universe, however, the Matrix half is destroyed in the process. Before long, the Legislators have marched into the room, and start attacking the Autobots. Outside, Cyclonus and Whirl meet on top of the Smelting pool, with Whirl glad about their victory, he asks Cyclonus if they're cool, to which Cyclonus imagines himself pushing Whirl into the pool, killing him, but instead just leaves, agreeing to end their fued.
Skids rushes back through the portal after hearing Rung call for help, and Pharma's headless body is grabbed by some tendrils and pulled through the portal. During the battle, Tailgate learns about Tyrest's computer and how the Legislators are linked to it, so he modified the last accord, which repeals the entire thing, making the Legislators stop in their tracks, however Tailgate collapses from his illness

The next day, Cyclonus is with Chromedome in a medibay with Tailgate, who knows that his death is near now, he tells Cyclonus that he has a gift for him in their hab-suite and how he was only born a couple of weeks before the Ark-1 launch, and he's just wanted to do something with his life, he begs Cyclonus to kill him, but he refuses. Ratchet contacts Cyclonus to tell him they've found the cure in Pharma's medibays with Swerve's help, but it's too late to apply it, as Tailgate's spark is too weak. Cyclonus goes off in a strop, but is stopped by Whirl...a short time later, he arrives at Tailgate's deathbed again, with his great sword, and skewers him with it.
The Lost Light leaves soon afterwards, with Ambus back in the Ultra Magnus armour, and Rodimus beginning his plans to make amends, but is worried about his crew, since Ambulon and several others were killed, First Aid's gone quiet, and Brainstorm's locked himself in his workshop (unknown to others, with the Point One Percentor spark), and they wonder how Luna-1 was kept missing for so long, when Tyrest found it so easily, which is revealed to be, unknown to them as well, because the planet has a massive rocket on the back.

Later, Ultra Magnus visits Cyclonus in his hab suite, now sporting a new horn, thanks to Tailgate, and asks how Tailgate is doing, which Cyclonus replies that he needs to recover still from the treatment, revealing that he used the Great Sword to transplant some of his own spark into him, as he had excess energies, and that it was Whirl's idea. Magnus is impressed, and finally officially welcomes him aboard the ship.
The Sound of Breaking Glass
Earlier on, Rodimus and Ambus lead a mission on Luna-1 to try and recover what they can from the planet before they plan to leave. Brainstom finds his misplaced briefcase, but the space bridge itself is beyond fixing, they wonder about Pharma's missing body, but it's not that important right now. Meanwhile, Perceptor finds Tyrest's communications array, and starts work on repairing it.
At Swerve's bar on the Lost Light, Fort Max meets with Rung, and explains that he's been offered a new job, but it involves leaving the ship.
Rodimus returns to his office, and decides immediately to have Atomizer help him redecorate it appropriately, and remembers his last proper conversation with Drift, when he said he'll take the full consequences for Overlord being on the ship, as Rodimus is needed for the future.
Swerve returns to his bar, happy that he's helped Ratchet decipher the cure to Cybercrosis, when Brainstorm comes in, and asks him to keep an ear out for any chatter about his briefcase, which he's worried was opened during the problems on Luna-1, and that it'd be dangerous if that happened.
At the morgue, Ratchet finds Ambus trying to put the Magnus armour back on, and he reveals that he knows how it works, and helps him put it back on, and tells him that he's always thought of him at the TRUE Ultra Magnus, as he's done it the longest. After Magnus leaves, Ratchet goes on to his true job, and starts reviving Red Alert.
On Luna-1, Rodimus and Getaway are trying to make the hot spot ignite again, but with no luck, as the Matrix was clearly what made it ignite originally, though they do wonder why it has died out anyway, since hot spots tends to stay active after they activate. Soon, Fort Max and Red Alert join them, with Max glad to be taking over as the Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord, and with Red Alert helping him on Luna-1, along with some of the Circle of Light, so they can keep up the job of enforcing the laws, which are still needed, and also protect the moon, and watch over Tyrest's unconscious body. Red Alert plans to reprogram the Legislators to guard Luna-1 as well.
Perceptor has the communications activated, and plans to make a copy for the ship, when they get in contact with Cybertron though, they're shocked to find Starscream responding.

Later, after the ship has gone, Outrigger, a member of the Circle runs and tells Red that Tyrest has moved, but when they get there, he's gone (having activated a recall button of his own, and teleported away)

Notes
  • This comic featured a small prose story afterwards, which I have included the brief synopsis for here as well
  • I'm pretty sure I predicted that there would be a smaller Minimus inside the larger one at some point as well...
  • From the looks of him when he's teleporting, it looks like Cyclonus may have sliced off Star Saber's arm
  • Brainstorm is revealed here to be Cold Constructed.
  • Rung seems to feel guilty or something, judging by how he can't enter the portal...wonder if that'll be brought up later...
  • First Aid killing Pharma the way he does is pretty much exactly what he planned to do last issue, but Ratchet told him not to.
  • Oddly, Tyrest accidentally saved Whirl's life, as he called for his Legislators to come to his aide just as one was about to kill him!
  • Rodimus reveals that he was in on the Overlord conspiracy from the start, this is sort of hinted at back when Drift comments about Red Alert is snooping around, as Drift mentions to him that he's worried he'll find something he shouldn't.
  • The giant spark's speech is made of just images. It's unclear what they mean, but from them, you could see it as meaning "Skids, what, Autobots, Decepticons, (or Cybertronian), The Lost Light, Not the Lost Light, Luna-1" which could be translated as "Skids? Did you come from a Cybertronian ship?", "Not a ship...Luna-1!"
  • I really, really do think the alien world Skids went to has something to do with Quintessons, and the tendrils taking away Pharma's body sort of adds to that too!
  • Tailgate finally learns the importance of a semi-colon, when it saves the day against the Legislators.
  • Tailgate is revealed here to have only been 2 weeks old when he was trapped underground, which reveals why his holo-avatar looked like a baby.
  • Tailgate also finally had his arm's writing redone to it's proper state "Waste Disposal"
  • Brainstorm has kept the Point One Percenter spark, which seemed to be kept in his chest during the mission on Luna-1
  • Cyclonus' connection to the Great Sword (which he's now wearing like Drift did) is explained as being because of his rebirth at Vector Sigma, as it gave him a more powerful and "newer" spark.
  • The Space Bridge to "Cyberutopia" was destroyed during the battle with the Legislators.
  • Fort Max, Red Alert (who's been revived) and several of the Circle of Light have stayed behind on Luna-1 to maintain it, and to watch over the injured Tyrest (who goes missing)
  • Drift's exile is revealed to have been his idea, as a vision he had during the Chaos event showed him that Rodimus was vital to the future.
  • Brainstorm thinks someone looked into the briefcase, which he asks Swerve to look into. hey, remember a few issues ago when Swerve said he'll look in that briefcase even if he dies trying?
  • Ratchet is revealed to have known about the Magnus Armour since it was created
  • The Lost Light now has possession of cures to various fatal illnesses to Cybertronians, thanks to Pharma's Medi-Bay.
  • The hot spot on Luna-1 has died out, and Rodimus sprinkles the remains of the Matrix half on it out of respect.
  • Rodimus plans to have a memorial to all those who have died under his watch set up in his office now.
  • Ambus mentions Rodimus having an incident with someone starting with "Thunder-", since the next issue's solicit shows that Thunderclash is set to appear somehow, it could be him (then again, it could be Thundercracker, finally having left Earth for all we know, or Thunderwing, Thunderblast etc)
  • The Lost Light finally make contact with Cybertron, but it's Starscream who answers the call, as he's now leader of the Cybertronians.
  • Perceptor plans to create a copy of Tyrest's communications array for the Lost Light.
  • It's mentioned here that some of the Circle of Light stay on Luna-1 to help out, that could mean that some went away with the Lost Light.

Plot
Snarl has been left in the Dinobot's encampment to deal with the problems of the other Autobots, while Grimlock and Swoop are at New Kalis, and Slug and Sludge are doing some work in the caverns. Snarl starts to get annoyed with his recent meeting with Scrounge when the planet is hit by a bright blue beam of light and the entire world starts shaking.
It soon ends though, and all the Transformers in the underground cities are feeling rejuvenated, and the caverns and planet's structure is reformed to an earlier state. Slug and Sludge are trapped in the caverns when the tunnel they were following is suddenly gone, but Sludge remembers that Last Spark is nearby in the other direction, so they head towards them for help.
In New Kalis, the walls in the city start to crack, and raw Energon starts pouring in, everyone, despite being rejuvenated all rush toward it out of habit, but Grimlock reminds them that too much raw Energon is dangerous. At the Dinobot's encampment only about six of the people present survived the quake, with Scrounge being one of the dead. Snarl takes charge though and starts a mission to escape the building.

In the caverns Sludge hears someone calling for help, but Slug doesn't care, but says he'll go find out who it is, as Sludge knows where the city is, and he doesn't. Meanwhile, Swoop bathes in some of the raw Energon, but gets worried when the Energon doesn't stop flowing. Slug finds the bot in distress, but finds out it's a member of the Forged, who managed to escape his settlement before it was destroyed by the quakes. Slug frees the Forged member from the rubble he's trapped under.
At New Kalis, Grimlock and Chromia are growing worried about the raw Energon, especially when others start rushing towards the Energon for themselves, despite the danger. Chromia, Swoop and Grimlock have to fight off their allies, which results in Grimlock going into beast mode and shooting fire off at them as well. Swoop transforms to fly people out, whilst Chromia goes off to recover anyone running away from Grimlock.
Everyone is in danger now, as Grimlock seems entranced by the raw Energon as well, Slug gets the Forged member out to safety, and Snarl watches as the Dinobot's encampment burns to the ground....

Notes
  • This issue is set during the last couple of minutes of the Transformers Prime episode "Deadlock", and shows how bad things are for the Transformers underground on Cybertron when it's being revived.
  • It's a bit odd that this issue, and the solicits seem to make it sound like the beam might destroy Cybertron, when the episode showing it revived came out weeks earlier....
  • One of the Generics seems to have been coloured to resemble Cobra Commander, so that's what I'm naming him here!
  • The only thing Snarl could find of Scrounge was his special arm...how ironic!
  • Despite appearing many times here, Snarl's helper goes unnamed, same with the Forged member.
  • The main problem the Transformers are facing here with the revival of Cybertron is that the caverns under the planet's surface are filling with Energon once again, meaning they'll probably all drown, if they don't escape.
  • The Forged member shown here looks like he's based on Movie Blackout's design, so maybe he's Blackout here as well?
  • Chromia's appearance here seems to be based on Prime Arcee's design, though she turns into a car instead of a motorcycle.
  • Grimlock's actions and Chromia's reactions at the end of this comic seem confusing, all Grimlock did was shoot fire off to get the civilians to leave the area, granted this might ignite the Energon, but rather than being worried, she seems more disappointed in him for some reason with her "how could you?", and then Grimlock stating that he's King. I guess he could have killed some of them, but it's not clear from the artwork.

Plot
Hot Rod is tumbling through Zero Space, courtesy of Primus and is ejected, as an observer on Earth, during the battle with the Deathbringer. He watches the battle unfold and wonders why he's been sent there. After the Autobots defeat the Deathbringer Hot Rod continues to wait, eventually he sees what he's supposed to, the piece of the Matrix that was inside the Deathbringer is still around, and is tainted with evil, thus meaning that it's out there somewhere still.
Primus whips him up again, sending him to the distant past of Cybertron, long before the war broke out, where he follows Jhiaxus, someone he has no knowledge of, into Boltax's tower of Knowledge. Hot Rod watches as Jhiaxus, Boltax and three others pool their mental resources together as they create the Underbase. When inside the Underbase's cyber-ocean Jhiaxus attacks the others, and starts mining it for information, and makes plans for the informations. At the same time he deletes all records about himself, including memories and leaves, to begin his grand schemes, which Hot Rod wonders about...
Hot Rod is taken away before he can find out anything else and arrives on Earth again, just as Megatron's army of zombie Decepticons starts their rampage. Hot Rod follows the journey of Buster and his wife Jessie as they drive around and try to evade the Decepticons. They call Spike to try and get him to come with Fort Max to help, but Spike's not answering his phone. Buster and Jessie hide out in a carwash, but the zombie Ratbat finds them, and kills them both. Hot Rod wonders whether he was there to see Buster's fate, or what tipped the mental state of Spike...
Hot Rod is shot out of Zero Space and lands, corporeally on the planet of Junk where he finds an alternate version of himself fighting with Galvatron, he sees a crashed Autobot ship of some design he can't identify, and sees the bodies of several of his friends (and Arcee). Hot Rod warns his counterpart about an attack from Cyclonus and Scourge, and IS HEARD! Rodimus Prime however is shocked and ends up gettin ghit by the two Decepticons, the Matrix being flung off the chain around his neck, which lands near Hot Rod. Galvatron kills Rodimus and gloats to his troops, Hot Rod understands that he's not there to learn anything, just for some help, that he can't get back home, and reaches out for the Matrix.

Back in the Regen universe Bludgeon is about to kill Kup when a newly arisen Rodimus Prime appears from nowhere to stop him!

Notes
  • This issue acts both as a continuation of Hot Rod's journey, which began in issue 94, it also acts as a prequel to the series as well, helping to fill in some gaps in the plot.
  • This comic COULD be seen as the Regeneration One celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the brand, with Marvel's comic continuity being the basis, as it uses several popular artists from across the franchise, and focuses on several different time frames. It also emulates the art style, including the changes in colouring style over the years as well, from ben-day style dots to block colouring etc.
  • The Deathbringer segment is essentially a retelling of the UK story that had this event, but with Hot Rod being included as an observer, and the revelation of the tainted Matrix fragment at the end.
  • Jhiaxus is revealed here to have existed long ago (and not created through budding like in the G2 comics) and that his absence from anyone's memories was due to him essentially deleting himself to hide
  • It's shown here that Buster and Jessie have gotten married since they last appeared in the comics
  • From the look of their mobile phone, it looks like Megatron's zombie invasion began in the mid-late 1990's
  • Buster's fate, where he is killed in his car by Ratbat in a carwash is of course a reference to the events of "Buster Witwicky and the Carwash of Doom".
  • The future alternate reality events shown are most likely from Galvatron's home universe, which therefore shows how he killed Magnus and the others, including Rodimus. This also implies that after he killed Rodimus he dragged his body back to Earth to string him up in New York. This alternate reality is basically the events of the 80's movie, but if the ship was left intact and the crews were combined.
  • Ironically even though Hot Rod says he must be in an alternate future, the events of the Movie take place in 2005/2006, and Regen is set in 2012/2013
  • The final scenes in this comic are clearly set during issue 95, which hasn't been released yet.
  • Hot Rod doesn't name-check Arcee amongst the corpses, most likely because she doesn't have a counterpart at the moment in Regen One.
  • It's likely that the reason Hot Rod was corporeal in the Junkion scene is because it's not a part of his history, but an alternate reality. Also he needed to be able to touch the Matrix here, so he had to be corporeal for that too!
  • I wonder if Rodimus Prime has claimed the alternate reality's Matrix for himself as well?

IDW - Monstrosity #4

Story by: Chris Metzen & Flint Dille
Art by: Livio Ramondelli
Letters by: Tom B. Long
Editor: John Barber
Plot
Optimus is in his office with Alpha Trion bemoaning his inability to keep the Cybertronians from leaving the planet when they hear about Trypticon's reactivation and his rampaging across Cybertron, they learn that he's heading towards the city of Harmonex. Optimus heads down into the inner chambers of Metroplex to find out more about the monster, where he learns his name, and that he's an ancient monster related to Mortilus in some way. Metroplex also claims that due to his low Energon supplies he cannot help them in the battle, and the Autobots will have to fight him alone.
At Kolkular Scorponok is watching his plan unfold on the monitors he's asked by Starscream to come into the main hall, as the troops wish to see him. In the hall he finds everyone gathered, including a returned Megatron, who blasts his usurper with his cannon.
The Autobots ambush Trypticon at Harmonex and manage to bury him under the rubble of the city, however they decide to investigate the body before jumping to conclusions.
Megatron squares off against the weakened Scorponok and manages to greatly injure him, leaving the Terrorcons to maul him, but makes sure that they don't outright kill him in the process. Megatron demands to know what has happened to Cybertron in his absence, and has his Decepticons prepare a new non-Junkon body for him as well.

At Trypticon's burial site, the Autobots are suddenly attacked by several of the monsters previously seen in Toraxxis, which Ratchet realizes means that they were created inside Trypticon, not at the cavern itself. Trypticon breaks free from the rubble and starts attacking the Autobots. Optimus attempts to open up the Matrix to use it's power against the giant robot, but it fails him, and he just gets swatted away by Trypticon instead.
Trypticon continues his rampage and severely injured Optimus when suddenly Grimlock and the Dynobots return to Cybertron and attacks the giant. Megatron appears behind Optimus and reveals that this was never part of his plans for Cybertron (he wants to rule the planet, not destroy it) and offers his help in defeating Trypticon. After a quick fight with Grimlock, who misunderstood the exchange, both Grimlock and Megatron get eaten up by Trypticon.

Inside Trypticon's body, Megatron and Grimlock form a temporary truce when they find themselves not alone (more of Trypticons baby dragons are inside). The two continue to fight the monsters inside Trypticon, whilst outside the Autobots try to save Optimus from dying.
Inside Trypticon, the duo find his Power Core, and start to smash it apart, after destroying one part of it, Grimlock starts to lose control of himself again, however Megatron manages to reach him, and snaps him out of it, allowing him to defeat Trypticon, causing him to die and collapse.
Megatron and Grimlock manage to escape the now dead body, Ultra Magnus tries to arrest Megatron, but suddenly the Decepticon army appears to back up Megatron, leaving the Autobots outnumbered, forcing them to leave with Optimus for repairs.
With the Autobots gone, Megatron implants Pentius' spark into Trypticons now dead body, and the beast begins to wake up again....

Notes
  • This is the print version of the digital releases of Monstrosity 10-12 and concludes the series
  • Even though he's shown to be mutilated etc here, we all know Scorponok will be fine in the long run as he's shown active in the later stories.
  • Also, the events shown here could explain why Scorponok seemed to go off on his own for a long time, and seemed to be against Megatron in a way.
  • The Matrix failing for Optimus could be an indicator that he's not the "Chosen One" as has been alluded before with Optimus' feelings whilst using the Matrix etc, compared to Rodimus.
  • Megatron has a new body whipped up for himself quite quickly doesn't he? (especially considering he was thought to be dead on Junkion by now)
  • The beasts created in Trypticon seem a bit similar to the Predacons from the Prime series
  • The spark used to reactivate Trypticon is the same one Megatron removed from Pentius.
  • Speaking of Trypticon, in past comics we've only seen him in action up until just after the Thunderwing incident, wonder if he left them for some reason or something?
  • The exchange between Scorponok and Megatron in the main hall, is clearly an homage to the Coronation scene in Transformers: The Movie
  • It's mentioned that Jetfire and the others are going to work on fixing the Dynobot's beats mode problems.

On the Blue Planet, Duane and his team ambush a couple of the local wolf creatures, and kill them, hoping to use them as food, but find out they are mechanical, similarly to the Autobots and Decepticons, and thus are inedible by humans. The group continue exploring the planet to tyr and find some way to leave it, thanks to finding ruins of an advanced race elsewhere.
Back on Earth, Professor Lindsay and Kittridge are examining the Cylinder from Battle Mountain, while Kevin and Gears are watching, during the tests, they accidentally set off the Cylinder,a nd everyone starts to escape, however when nothing happens they return to examine it, and realize that it has been activated, but the timer is set for about four days later, which COULD help them recover Duane, or not.

At Hyperdynamix Aeronautics, Dr Porter is showing General Marcus, Optimus, Ratchet and Ironhide his RLV rockets which are designed to go up to his HODDIS space station for various tasks, including clearing away the debris around the Earth's orbit. The doctor takes his guests up to the control room to contact the station.
On the station, the crew are contacted, and explain how they help the RLV's to clear up the space above Earth. After cutting off the communications, Porter reveals that one of the secret roles of HODDIS, hidden even from the crew, is to examine the meteors etc that enter the planet's atmosphere, in case they turn out to be Cybertronians, so they can be minitored etc as they enter the planet, so they can learn about them, and also explains that he's working on a weapon that'll kill all the Decepticons on Earth, but not the Autobots. Optimus and the Autobots don't like this idea, but Marcus thinks it's a good thing to end the war in one move. Before a real argument can begin however four objects, similar to Cybertronian meteoroid forms are suddenly detected (from nowhere) approaching Earth, and almost hit the HODDIS station, and head to Idaho. The team prepare to head out to deal with the situation.
Dr Porter's son Douglas leaves the base, after haveing been snubbed by his father yet again, and goes on the private helicopter. On the helicopter Douglas watches footage he managed to get of his father's meeting on his notebook, and mocks his attempts to "rule the world" with his accomplishes. Douglas then patches into another of his spybots, which he planted on Kevin before, and it detached from him and hid at NEST. The new feed shows him what happened with the Cylinder, and he's interested.

On the Blue Planet, the soldiers are exhaunsted and are still evading the wolves, so they head to a high-rised area, during this incident, Duane's leg is injured, but they all make it up the high point. The point is surrounded by the wolves, who start trying to climb the sides, indicating some level of intelligence, however they are stopped by a giant centipede monster, which shortly afterwards leaves as well.
On Earth again, Optimus, Ratchet and Ironhide are heading out to intercept the meteoroids, when they find them they find the meteors cracked open, but empty, however they soon find the former contents - four of the giant centipedes from the Blue Planet (renamed as Robo-pedes by Ironhide). They attack the Autobots, and manage to escape in two directions, injuring the Autobots, but forcing them to split into two groups to track them before they can hurt any humans
Back at the NEST base, Lindsay is given orders to have the Cylinder relocated to a more secure facility, in case the wormhole created causes a lot of damage to people or property. Gears and Kevin manage to con their way into joining the convoy that'll be delivering it. Elsewhere, Douglas has watched this footage, and contacts Simon Clay to aid Reverb in an ambush of the Convoy, along with the stolen tanks.

Optimus tracks two of the Robo-pedes by himself and manages to take them both down, then heads off to find Ironhide and Ratchet, in case they're having problems.
In the hidden former mine-base used by Reverb, he is practising to control the Hyperdynamix tanks with his mind when Simon Clay comes in to report their boss has a mission for them. Reverb is told to ambush the NEST convoy, which includes Bumblebee and Gears, but to not kill the human child Kevin, as he's needed in the long term. He agrees to do it, but throughout the conversation he's annoyed by the drone who freed him from NEST in the past, which he has renamed Loudmouth, so he crushes and kills it. Back in Idaho, Ratchet and Ironhide track the last two Robo-pedes, they easily kill one of them, but the last one starts to speed up and approaches a human settlement, it dives into the water nearby, which Ironhide follows him into, and kills it in front of some local fishermen.

The NEST convoy sets off with the Cylinder, Bumblebee is up front, and Gears (with Kevin) are bringing up the rear, along the way Gears reassures Kevin that he's staying around with him until he knows he'll be okay, regardless of what happened to his brother. Nearby Reverb and Clay set up the ambush and wait for them to get close..
Before long the attack begins, Kevin gets out of Gears, and the two Autobots transform into robot mode, Kevin sees the stolen tanks and Reverb, and puts it all together, that he's in control of the tanks and wants the Cylinder. Nearby at Hyperdynamix Aerospace they find out that the convoy is under attack, Porter thinks the attack is about his rockets and satellite, so he sets them up for an instant launch, as Marcus won't reveal what the convoy was actually for.
The Autobots fend off the tanks, but aren't able to do much damage (remember Ironhide struggled against one last time) and the tanks target the trucks, clearly looking for the Cylinder. Douglas is watching the mission and is glad that Kevin is still alive, but then noticed the footage of his father's lab and decides to stop him from launching the rockets, and thus getting glory as the guy who killed the Decepticons. Reverb approaches the Cylinder in the smashed up truck, when Douglas contacts him and tells him to stop the rocket from launching, or all Decepticons will die. Reverb hates leaving the Cylinder after coming so close, but he doesn't want to die either, so he heads off to Hyperdynamix, and gives contol of the tanks to Simon.

The Autobots notice that the tanks are acting weird, so they manage to deal with a few more of them, Simon's having problems controlling all the tanks by himself and so can't use them effectively, allowing the Auotbots to basically win, and defend the Cylinder better. Optimus and his team are on their way to the base, but wont be back for a while. Marcus finds out that Gears was part of the convoy, and tells him to come to Hyperdynamix, as Porter's planning to launch the satellites, and he doesn't think it'll only kill Decepticons.
Douglas watches the battle on his notepad, and is shocked that Simon's taken control, considering they still have the automated functions they had before, which Simon didn't know about. He orders Simon to program the tanks to retreat as this was a failure, and he heads back to Hyperdynamix in his helicopter. Gears and Kevin also head off to Hyperdynamix, now the battle is over.
Reverb enters the facility and starts tearing through the facility, he makes it to the Control Room, where Porter activates the final countdowns, to make it impossible to stop the launching. Reverb gets angry and attacks Porter and marcus, and destroys the controls accidentally, thus making it truly impossible to stop.
Douglas watches the footage of Reverb's attack on one of his spybots, and is horrified. Gears enters the base and they find Porter badly injured, and the others trying to keep him alive, he's told that Reverb is on RLV-2 trying to tear apart the rocket to get to the satellite, before he can do so though, the rocket launches, and Porter reveals that the satellite weapon will actually kill ALL Cybertronians and not just Decepticons. Gears and Kevin rush off to the last rocket to stop the satellite before it's too late (Kevin went because Gears wouldn't have been able to open the hatch due to his large fingers).

On the Blue Planet, Duane and his team head back to the alien fort they hid out in when they first arrived to see if they can find something to get them home again. On Earth, Douglas returns to Hyperdynamix and rushes to see his father who is being treated. Lindsay contacts Marcus and says that the Cylinder is getting ready to activate again, Douglas interrupts and says he can help out to try and use it to rescue Kevin's brother and his team. At the fort on the Blue Planet, the group manage to unearth another Cylinder and the rectangles on the sides start to light up, like the one on Earth.
Above Earth, the rocket approaches the other rocket, which Reverb is still trying to break into it. Gears leaves the rocket, after Kevin puts on one of the spacesuits, and Kevin is informed by the facility below that he'll need to use the rocket's equipment to deactivate the satellite.
Gears approaches Reverb and explains about how Porter's wepaon will kill all Cybertronians, so he's there to help him deactivate it. The two manage to break open the rocket and the satellite is released. The two Cybetronians ignore Lyon's advice from the base and start shooting it, but to no avail, and in fact speeds up the countdown to just 6 minutes before activation. Kevin is told he will not have to due the deactivation himself manually, so he has to leave the ship and approach it himself.
Back on Earth Douglas is taken to see the Cylinder, which is now flanked by Optimus and the others, Douglas reveals his actions in the past and shows them the footage he has of the Cylinder being used on Duane and the others, which has the coordinates to the Blue Planet on it. he sends a copy to Lindsay and Kevin (for him to have closure) and Lindsay goes to reset the coordinates himself.

In orbit again, Kevin is trying to disable the satellite, with Reverb moaning at him the whole time, luckily however, he does manage to disarm it, and saves all the Cybertronians from instant death, straight afterwards however, Reverb turns on his temporary allies and badly injured Gears, he goes to kill Kevin, but the crew of the HODDIS station send their probes to attack the Decepticon, knocking him into the atmosphere, and he burns up crash landing. The HODDIS crew reveal that the team on Earth found the coordinates for the Cylinder, and that it'll be activated soon, so he'd better return to Earth now. Gears is left in orbit for the HODDIS crew to rescue and send down to Earth later for repairs.
Kevin heads back down to Earth, but is told that when he lands he'll have to be examined for about an hour before being released, in case of any problems on descent etc, which Kevin doesn't want to do, so he disables the auto-pilot and turns it onto manual, and steers towards the Cylinder's site. Douglas contacts Kevin and reveals he sent the image of the Cylinder to his phone and starts to say sorry for all he's done, but Kevin isn't interested and cuts off the communication, and begins to land, however before he can, his rocket disappears in mid-air, with the Autobots watching.
The soldiers on the Blue Planet are wondering what the Cylinder is doing when suddenly a rocket appears and Kevin pops out of it! Shocking everyone the two brothers reunite, however more of the wolves and Robo-pedes start to appear. Kevin sees the new Cylinder and remembers what Douglas sent to him, so he gets out of the suit and checks his phone, receiving the picture and keys the code into the Cylinder.
Back on Earth the Autobots lament the apparent loss of Kevin as well when the Cylinder activates again and Kevin and the soldiers all stumble through. They're concerned about the monsters following through, so the Autobots prepare to destroy the Cylinder, but Douglas stops them, revealing that by just turning it off it'll break the wormhole, which it does. Douglas then says he has a lot to explain, which Optimus agrees.

Later the teams all collate their information, and determine that the Blue Planet Robo-pedes were the same as the ones who attacked Idaho, but so long as they don't link up to that planet with the Cylinder again, then they shouldn't feel the need to come to Earth again, and they decide to lock up the Cylinder in the vault at Yucca Mountain to keep it safe and out of the way, and start reviewing Douglas' information about the Cylinder, which he's collated from watching it and from Reverb (presumably). They haven't decided what to do with Douglas yet, considering that he did help them in the end. They also all assume that Reverb died on re-entry, but aren't sure.
Kevin visits Douglas at his father's bedside, who is still badly injured, but seems to be getting better, Kevin leaves after thanking Douglas, who doesn't want his thanks, considering everything he did, and he leaves.
Outside, Kevin goes into Gears, who is off duty for two weeks, and Kevin admits that he feels sorry for Douglas for everything that he did just for attention and what's happened. Gears is glad that he can spend the next two weeks with Kevin before he has to return to NEST, and the two go for a little drive.

Notes
  • This is the third and (supposedly) final book in the Classified series. I say supposedly, because it has quite a bit plot line left open...the Blue Planet, and what it's ruins and connection to Cybertron were!
  • Oddly this storyline is actually able to be in continuity with the IDW Movie comics, as Reverb could have actually survived plummeting to Earth (he survived the exiting of the atmosphere) and then joined up with Brakedown and Dirt Boss for Nefarious!
  • This is actually the first Classified story to not feature any true Cybertronian deaths (Reverb is debatable at the moment, and Loudmouth doesn't seem to be a Cybertronian, and it's unclear if any of the Blue Planet animals count)
  • Loudmouth is a bit confusing, he seemed last time to be piloted by someone, but here he seems to be sentient...maybe he was something exposed to Allspark energy in Mission City?
  • Yeah, I think Optimus and the others, especially Ratchet realized Dr Porter was targeting all Cybertronians with his weapon, as the Autobots and Decepticons are the same race, with no actual differences in mechanics
  • Ironhide makes the following statement: "I'm not waiting for them to rust to death" about the Robo-pedes...this is particularly evil considering how he dies in Dark of the Moon....
  • It's not stated what happens to Simon Clay at the end of this story, wonder if he found out that his boss was just a kid?
  • From the dialogue here it seems that Duane's team was sent to the Blue Planet only about 3 weeks ago
  • I find it very unlikely that NONE of Duane's team died in the time he's been on the Blue Planet
  • Gears changes his alternate mode YET AGAIN, and it's still not what it is in the toy line!!
  • Douglas Porter's actions in the past 2 books are revealed here to basically be a ploy by him to outshine his father and get attention from him, as he planned to use the Cylinder to rescue Kevin's brother and his team, amongst other things.
  • Project Nightbridge is never fully explained here, it just has something to do with the Cylinder, so maybe he was planning to use it to travel to other worlds for their technology perhaps?
  • It's a bit weird that we don't get a proper emotional scene between Kevin and Duane in the end isn't it? I mean we see him at the hospital with Douglas and Dr Porter, so presumably he was visiting him there for his leg injury, but we didn't get that scene!

Plot
In the Medibay of Luna-1 Ratchet is working hard on fixing Ambulon from his injury, whilst First Aid is panicking, elsewhere Dai Atlas, Whirl, Cyclonus and the Circle of Light are fighting the army of Legislators, and Atlas is impressed with Cyclonus' skills with a Great Sword, despite being a novice.
In the Cell, Getaway reunites with Skids and tries to get him to remember his past and their friendship, Getaway reveals that Tyrest plans to kill all the Cold Constructed Transformers with his Killswitch, and the Autobots decide they need to stop him, but Getaway also claims that Ultra Magnus led the crew to Luna-1 on Tyrest's behalf for some reason.
In the Control Room, Pharma is looking over the Killswitch whilst Tyrest is drilling again,a nd he comments on how the only reason he's alive is because Tyrest needed to test the Killswitch wouldn't kill Forged Transformers, like Pharma, and also reveals that he captured the Circle of Light to test the effects on them as well. Star Saber interrupts the memories by telling Tyrest about the battle outsie the cells, Tyrest allows him to join the fight, with all resources he needs.

In the Cell again, Getaway reveals to the group, and Skids that they work for the Black Ops Diplomatic Corps and were on a mission to attack Tyrest with the Nudge Gun to make him decide to resign his position, due to him becoming more irrational lately (hunting Titans, having Decepticon helpers etc). However, when Skids takes the shot, because Tyrest had already messed up his brain with the drilling, it didn't work, but Tyrest felt the attack, and set his Legislators against the two Autobots, Getaway was captured, but Skids escaped in a ship made of three of the Legislators,a nd goes through a portal thanks to his Homing Device sending him to his nearest handlers (the Duobots), he writes the message on the wall to himself, and uses the gun on himself, wiping out his memories of the mission, as per his orders, and all things related to the mission are wiped out as well, excpet for Getaway, who was left as a remnant, which is why he doesn't forget him at all now. Rodimus figures out that Getaway and Skids' boss was Prowl, and Tailgate asks Getaway if he knows how to escape, which he does now, that he has a "fresh set of keys"

In the Medibay First Aid is angry with Ratchet for not letting him help fix Ambulon, and starts shouting at him, however Ratchet reveals that his refusal is nothing to do with First Aid's skills, it's because Ambulon died when the chainsaw severed his Spark before, and he's been turning his corpse into a cannon since then, he then blasts the Legislator guarding them and steals his gun for First Aid to use. The two medics escape and find the others from the cell having escaped as well thanks to Getaway creating a dart gun, and disabling the bars briefly, allowing some to leave.
Tailgate worries that his illness is getting worst and tells Ratchet that Magnus was healed up because of the medics here, so maybe he can be too, Ratchet isn't sure though, but says that Pharma may have the cure.

The Legislators are being torn apart when Cyclonus says he needs to leave to be somewhere, but Dai Atlas sees Star Saber appearing through a teleporter in the distance and goes to attack him for revenge, as Star Saber was the one who let down the Crystal City's defenses, allowing the Legislators into the city in the first place, after a short fight, Star Saber skewers Dai Atlas with his sword, apparently killing him, whilst also telling him that Primus hates him.

Rodimus and his team break into the control room and find Ambus' body on the floor, Pharma shoots Brainstorm and blasts the briefcase out of his hands. Rodimus approaches Tyrest to stop him, but the Chief Justice pushes a button on his staff, causing all the other Transformers to think they cannot move (thanks to the Weapon of Mass Suggestion). Tyrest then approaches the Killswitch unopposed and turns it on, suddenly all the Cold Constructed Transformer sin the group (including Getaway and Chromedome) start dying. The effect is sent out across subspace and starts affecting Transformers on the Lost Light, Peaceful Tyranny, Skyroller, Cybertron and beyond, beginning to kill several of them, whilst they're just going about their regular business
On Constancy Fulcrum has just freed Misfire from jail when the W.A.P. is nowhere to be seen as all the crew, except Grimlock are currently dying.

Back on Luna-1, Rodimus promises revenge on Tyrest, even if he has to destroy Cyberutopia to do so, on schedule, the portal, which Tyrest believes to go to Cyberutopia opens up and he steps through, believing himself to have finally been redeemed for his mistake in creating the Cold Construction process...

Notes
  • This issue fills in a lot of holes in the story over the past 20 issues, it tells us who Skids is, where his gun came from, how Pharma survived at Delphi, how and why the Circle of Light were captured amongst other things.
  • Getaway's escape method includes using Brainstorm's briefcase clasps and Chromedome's finger needles, which is also what Tailgate suggested before!
  • The Titans have been collected all this time to use their internal Space Bridges to create one big one, to lead directly to Cyberutopia
  • It's not clear why Pharma leaves Ratchet and doesn't kill First Aid before he goes, Tyrest doesn't really seem to have called for him.
  • The Circle of Light were captured because Tyrest planned to use them to test the Killswitch (as he was sure that a city would have some of each type of construction)
  • It's revealed here that the Diplomatic Corps are actually a Black Ops group, like the Wreckers, but more subtle, and that they seem to work in some way with the Galactic Council (and Prowl).
  • Knowing that the Galactic Council have been after Magnus and Tyrest for a while, it seems likely that K'Gard's talk with Magnus in the Annual was more than likely an interrogation of sorts.
  • Skids' Binary Gun is revealed to be a Nudge Gun in reality, and is designed to implant a false memory in it's target, the first bullet was meant to make Tyrest think about retiring, whilst the second one was blank, so it would wipe out Skids' own memories of the mission and everything around it, also explaining why he didn't remember the gun at any time, or Prowl during the Shadowplay story.
  • Speaking about this, the use of the Nudge Gun was the 19(80)4 crime, but Tyrest even admits later that his staff's effect was based on that same principle, so shouldn't he be in violation too?
  • Skids' Homing Device sent him ot his nearest handlers (the Duobots on the Lost Light) which explains why he just coincidentally appeared right near the ship back in issue 2
  • Apparently it takes Ratchet about half and hour to convert a corpse into a massive cannon!
  • Dai Atlas finally reveals his alternate mode as a jet!
  • Cyclonus is still concerned with finding something on Luna-1
  • Star Saber seems to be fully delusional, and claims that everyone is a heretic, even someone as devout as Dai Atlas!
  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure Brainstorm's briefcase will be opened next issue, it's clasps are removed, and it's finally be shot off it's chain from his hand.
  • Tyrest is sending the Killswitch's effect across the universe using the Subspace Network, explaining how it's affect those on Cybertron and other places too.
  • The events shown on Gorlam Prime and Cybertron are set during the recent Robots in Disguise prequels to the Dark Cybertron storyline, whilst the Peaceful Tyranny and Constancy scenes are just used to show us what's happening with some of our other favourite characters from MTMTE last year.
  • Ratchet mentioning that the cure to Cybercrosis possibly being inside Pharma's head could be a hint that Chromedome will inject him some time to find it for Tailgate
  • Tarn seems to be worried about Kaon...wonder if he'll "sing" him out of his pain?

Writer: Simon Furman
Penciler: Guido Guidi
Inker: Stephen Baskerville
Colorist: John-Paul Bove
Letterer: Shawn Lee
Editor: John Barber
Editor-in-Chief: Chris Ryall
Plot
Galvatron falls down from the sky and attacks Ultra Magnus, throwing him around and smashing him through buildings etc, all whilst claiming they've fought before, much to Magnus' surprise as he's never actually met him before.
In Primus' chamber Hot Rod speaks to the Primus-Possessed Grimlock (whilst the other Dinobots are frozen) and Primus declares that Hot Rod is in fact a Prime, and sends him to Zero Space to help solve what has gone wrong. Once gone, Primus vacates Grimlock's body and the Dinobots are unfrozen, and shocked to find Hot Rod gone, and Grimlock smoldering in front of them.
Back in Iacon Magnus and Galvatron continue their fight and Magnus fires off one of his shoulder rockets and sends the Decepticon flying. Shortly afterwards Blades appears and reports that the Autobots are fighting back against another threat, the Warworld!

The Warworld starts shooting off loads of pods, that open to reveal the Decepticon's Blitz Engines, and start attacking the people of Cybertron. the Autobots fight back, but it's not going too well. Meanwhile Magnus transforms to join the battle, but is attacked by a surviving Galvatron.
Prowl, Perceptor and Kup meet at an Emergency Command Bunker to work out what to do with the Warworld, and they watch footage of the Autobots fighting it, and discover that the Blitz Engines are able to self-heal and seem to be powered by an external source similar to the Matrix, which they determine to be on the Warworld itself. Kup prepares the Wreckers to attack the ship, whilst Prowl goes to wake a sleeping giant.

Magnus drives around trying to shake off Galvatron, but to no affect, Mganus then shoots off his missiles again and blasts the road ahead of him, then stops causing Galvatron to fall, however the mad Decepticon grabs ahold of Magnus at the same time, and drags him over the ledge too, sending both plummeting.

On board the Warworld, the Decepticons are growing restless and decide to use the Warworld's cannons to show off it's power, they target the injured Galvatron and Magnus, so they can take out both a rogue element and the Auotbot's figurehead, and fire, blowing up a chunk of city along with it.
Prowl witnesses this from nearby as he's just awoken Omega Supreme to join the battle, who manages to take out several Blitz Engines on his own.
Soundwave watches and comments on how predictable this fight has been so far, and orders Monstructor to fight the giant Autobot. Just afterwards though Blaster appears behind Soundwave, ready to fight him.

Elsewhere, out of the flames Ultra Magnus staggers away, still alive, with a deactivated Galvatron in tow.

Notes
  • The multiple references to Magnus and Galvatron being long standing rivals (in Galvatron's head anyway) is both a reference to their original toys (being advertised as the new leaders to hide Megatron's transformation and Hot Rod's leadership back in the 80's) and also to the UK comics that had them fights multiple times, which of course never happened in this continuity.
  • This also confirms that way, that this Galvatron killed his universe's Ultra Magnus as well
  • Why are there pedestrians driving around Cybertron when the Decepticon's Warworld is hovering above?!?
  • Primus possesses Grimlock in a similar manner to how he did so with Xaaron as well
  • Primus also confirms that Unicron didn't really kill him, as he's a Multiversal Singularity
  • The Zero Space, which keeps appearing is shown here to be something to do with Primus
  • The Decepticons seem to think that Magnus is the Autobot leader as they target him to die (as their figurehead)
  • A bit confusing as well, the Warworld's attack blows up a huge part of a city, yet Magnus and Galvatron have just a few dents etc...
  • Omega Supreme about to be attacked by Monstructor seems to be a reference to their storyline in IDW's main G1 series.
  • Also, Blaster confronting Soundwave could be a reference to their final battle in Headmasters (meaning they may both die/get upgraded soon)
