Plot
Optimus Prime and his friends Bumblebee, Prowl, Drift, Arcee and Ratchet travel to the planet Earth on the Ark to look for more Energon.
On Earth the Autobots take on vehicle modes to stay hidden and use the Ark as their base. Megatron and his Decepticons have come to Earth as well in their ship, the Nemesis, every info-dumps themselves, and the Transformers fight over the fate of Earth. The Autobots make allies with some humans and manage to defeat the Decepticon, for now.
The Autobots stay on Earth to protect it now...or something....

Notes
  • This is a (currently) one-shot story-book aimed towards kids, using the Robot Heroes line as the basis
  • Oddly a fair few of the characters in this comic DON'T actually have a Rescue Bots toy
  • The alternate modes shown in this story couldn't possibly come from those robot modes, unless they cheat A LOT
  • Primus gave Optimus the Matrix....yup
  • The Ark is said to be underwater at first (like in IDW's early G1 stuff) but is then seen sticking out of a mountain later (like in the G1 cartoon)
  • I'm surprised Megatron has his fusion cannon here...considering it's a kid-friendly story
  • I think Blitzwing and Drift might have replaced Thundercracker and Jazz at some point, as both of them are seen on Cybertron, and then just disappear again. Drift is understandable as he was the new character being shoved down our throats at the time, but why Blitzwing?
  • The fighting scenes in this story book look more like dancing
  • The female human ally seems to be based on Verity Carlo...albeit more innocent looking
  • Before the start of More Than Meets the Eye, Drift pushing Starscream into the lake was the greatest thing he'd ever done.
  • This comic is made up of pretty much just double page spreads
  • Optimus and Megatron used to be friends (and then they started "dancing"

IDW - Dark of the Moon Adaptation

Plot
In 1969 NASA succeeds in landing a man on the moon, but secretly this is a mission by the government and Sector Seven to investigate a crashed space craft up there, where they find several dead robots. Many years later in 2011 Earth is the home to several of the robot's on the Moon's kind, the Autobots, and they have started helping the humans deal with problems on the planet, such as terrorist groups. After one such mission, the Diego Garcia NEST/Autobot base is decommissioned after an attack on the base by a Decepticon recently. Optimus, Lennox and Ratchet head out to the Ukraine for another mission.
Elsewhere, in Washington Sam now has a new girlfriend, two house-pet Autobots (Wheelie and Brains), but no job, so he's not very happy.
The team arrive in the Ukraine at the old Chernobyl facility where a report of an alien artifact was made by the Soviets of the past, when there, they are attacked by Shockwave and his Driller pet, however Shockwave escapes after the attack, and Optimus gets the artifact, and recognizes it as part of the Ark, a ship he saw destroyed years before. Unknown to the Autobots, Laserbeak kills one of the local team, who informed NEST of the artifact in the first place.
Sam manages to get a job thanks to help from Carly's own boss, and he goes to visit Carly at her work where he meets her boss, Dylan Gould. At NEST Optimus demands to know why he wasn't told about the Ark, and he's told that they didn't know until very recently,a nd he's told where it is. The team believe the Decepticons might go after the ship, so they set off to reach it first, and to check the Crash Vault for anything still on board.
In Africa Megatron is driving around and is informed about the Auotbots heading to the moon, he's glad and tells Soundwave to get rid of his human collaborators now.
On the moon Optimus finds Sentinel's near-dead body and recovers it, along with five of his pillars, however unknown to him, the Dreads hitch a ride back to Earth with them.

At his new work, Sam is accosted by Jerry Wang, who gives him a manifesto full of evidence about what's been happening on the moon and a cover-up. Sam tries to ask him about it some more, but Laserbeak appears and kills him, Sam runs away.
Later, he's picked up Carly and goes to NEST to warn them about the Decepticons being active again and gives them the manifesto before Mearing tells him to butt out of NEST business as he's a civilian. Sentinel is revived by Optimus, using the Matrix and Mearing learns that the pillars they found are parts of space bridge, which she believes could be used to mount a full scale invasion on Earth, so she refuses to give them to him again. Megatron is informed by Soundwave that Sentinel has been moved from the Moon, which make shim happy.
Sam is annoyed by Mearing's comments earlier and decides that he'll help out anyway, he gets in contact with Simmons. The next day Optimus tries to give Sentinel command of the Autobots once more, but he refuses, saying that he's no longer able to lead.
Sam teams up with Simmons and his aide Dutch to work out what's happened, and they learn that several space agency members have been dying recently, and connect the dots to realize that they worked with the Decepticons to hide something on the moon, and are now being killed to silence them. Carly comes home and is angry with Sam for not dropping this, and leaves him, going to a party of Dylan's.
Brains leads the humans to a bar where 2 former cosmonauts are hiding out and learns from them that their photos of the moon showed that there were several pillars on the moon, that have gone missing now. Sam deduces that the Decepticons stole the space bridge pillars to use on Earth, but needed Optimus to revive Sentinel with his Matrix in order to activate them.
Sam warns Mearing about it, and goes with Bumblebee to escort Sentinel back to NEST, but they're attacked by the Dreads on the way, the Dreads are defeated, but upon arriving at NEST Sentinel kills Ironhide, revealing that he is allied with the Decepticons now.

Sentinel continues his attack and kills Skids and Mudflap and steals the pillars from NEST. Optimus and his team follows Sentinel to stop him, but too late, as Sentinel activates the space bridge and allows an army of Decepticons hiding on the moon to invade Earth, the Autobots are forced to retreat.
Sam goes to Dylan's party to take Carly home, but when leaving Dylan is revealed to be working for the Decepticons too, and has Soundwave kidnap Carly and forces Sam to work for them as a spy.
The UN receive a message from Sentinel to exile the Autobots from Earth, or the Decepticons will destroy the planet, as all they want is materials to repair Cybertron. It's agreed to and the Autobots are shipped off to their ship, the Xantium, where they have to leave the planet, thanks to Sam's "spying" the Decepticons know when they are leaving, and send out Starscream to destroy the ship just as it takes off.

Shortly later, Sam, Epps and some mercenaries go to Chicago, which is where the Decepticons have their main base set up after mostly destroying the place. The humans are attacked by a Decepticon, but before he can kill them the Autobots, who faked their deaths to show the world that the Decepticons were lying, arrive and save them, and join them in their battle against the Decepticons.
Megatron and Sentinel have an argument, where Sentinel says they aren't working together, Megatron's working for him. Carly has been taken to Dylan's apartment but is rescued by Sam and Bumblebee who stole a Decepticon ship to break in and attack the apartment and kill Laserbeak.
Dylan tells his masters about the Autobots being alive, and they send out the troops to stop them from getting to the pillars. The battle escalates with several warriors dying, including Starscream, Lennox and his team make it into the city to help out too. AT some point several Autobots are captured and Mirage is executed by Soundwave, who, once distracted by Wheelie and Brains knocking out one of the ships above the city is killed by Bumblebee.
Eventually Optimus reaches Shockwave and Sentinel, the former is killed by Opitmus, and the latter is engaged in battle by the Autobot. Elsewhere, Sam finds Dylan and fights with him, but the evil human activates the space bridge for Sentinel and transports Cybertron itself into the Earth's orbit, however Sam throws Dylan into the pillar and kill him. Carly finds Megatron and convinces him that Sentinel is just using him and he'll be forgotten about when Optimus is killed.
Optimus is about to be killed by Sentinel when Megatron arrives and saves him, attacking his "partner", Megatron, and Optimus finishing him off. Megatron then proposes that he and Optimus work together, with Optimus' response going unnoticed
Afterwards everyone is happy, and Bumblebee hints to Carly and Sam that they should get married and everyone leaves afterwards. Elsewhere however Megatron's "pet" Igor wonders where his master is.

Notes
  • This is the adaptation of the 3rd Transformers Movie: Dark of the Moon, it was edited enough to make it fit in with the prequels etc
  • At least once, Sentinel is seen in his original colours of gold from the production of the film, rather than his final red.
  • Sentinel's rust cannon is located under his shield here, rather than being a separate weapon like in the actual film
  • The Twin's deaths and a roles in the film were cut out for some reason, but are maintained here (YAY!)
  • Rather than using actual previous generics from the earlier comics, or mimicking the ones used in the film itself, the generic Decepticons here are just new generic ones who don't seem to be based on anyone else.
  • Megatron's fate in this comic isn't clear, he is last seen with Optimus at a standoff, so either it ended like in the novel (Where he leaves with his Decepticons to try and rebuild Cybertron) or like in the film (where Optimus kills him) If there are any more comics made for the movies, it will likely follow the Movie's conclusion, as they most often do in the sequels. It's not clear...but the lump on the floor on the last page COULD be him, dead on the floor.
  • One of the notable differences here is that Wheeljack and Mirage swapped fates, where Mirage is killed her, Wheeljack was killed in the actual Movie...how will that be rectified now?

IDW - Rising Storm

Plot
In China, Longarm and Salvage rescue some guys from a fire at an Oil Processing Plant when suddenly Shockwave and Astrotrain appear and kill everyone at the plant, including the two Autobots, all so they can use the raw material there for a project of their's.
Later at Diego Garcia, Optimus and Ratchet are watching over the confused refugees from the Initiative whilst Galloway and a bunch of Autobots are holding a sting operation against some Decepticons under Starscream's command who are selling weapons to human terrorists. During the sting Skystalker and Divebomb are killed and Fearswoop is captured. The battle is watched by Shockwave from a distance and isn't impressed by the local Decepticons. He contacts Astrotrain at his location and asks for a progress report on his project (which seems to be to repair the Driller). The Brain Unit that was being used to help Astrotrain overhears that he's going to be destroyed after his job is done, and runs away
The Autobots and their prisoner return to Diego Garcia and Elita is a bit annoyed with Optimus after he finally asks her what it was like being resurrected and linked to her sisters.
Shockwave infiltrates Starscream's base and tells him that Megatron sent him to reintegrate Starscream's group in with his. Astrotrain contacts Shockwave about the Brain Unit (Brains) escaping, and is told to hunt him down as he holds sensitive information.
Brains arrives in Philadelphia where he runs into Sam and Bumblebee.

In the past, Shockwave picks up the signal of the Allspark, sent out when the humans found it and leaves a battle with the Auotbots to hunt it down, unfortunately, like Megatron he loses control and crashes on the planet, in Siberia in this case and is eventually found by the Soviet Union. Soundwave arrives in orbit of Earth at some point and starts manipulating humans to doing his dirty work.
Later, Megatron eventually finds and frees Shockwave from the abandoned Soviet facility he was being held in, and recruits him back into the Decepticons.
Later, Sam and Bumblebee have taken Brains down an alley, where they are properly introduced, along with Wheelie. Brains explains that he has some knowledge about the Decepticons weapons locations, but before he can divulge it, Barricade arrives and says he wants the unit. Bumblebee engages the Decepticon whilst Sam and the others run away along with some locals, but when they get away from Barricade they find a whole army of Decepticons, all after Brains as well. Brains doesn't know what the information he has is as well as the weapons locations, but everyone seems to want it.
Sam calls NEST and asks for help as Starscream and his forces are all there in Philadelphia. Most of the Autobots and several of the humans head out. Sam and the others are in major danger, but are saved when Mirage and Wheeljack suddenly appear on Earth and help to fight off the Decepticons..

At Diego Garcia the refugees are left behind with some Autobots, humans and Galloway guarding them and the base whilst the others are out for their mission to Philadelphia. On the way to Philadelphia the sisters are airdropped into a forest to act as an infiltration team, which will reunite with the Autobots in Philadelphia after setting explosives in certain locations. The battle in Philadelphia is intense, Brains is separated from Sam and runs to a woman, but is also chased by Space Case, the woman, who re-introduces herself to the newly arrived Sam as well as Carly, as she shoots at Space Case with a fallen weapon on the floor, injuring the Decepticon. The two discuss things whilst the battle continues on.
In the forest the sisters come across Astrotrain, and see him talking to Shockwave over a communicator and learn that Starscream's pursuit of Brains is just an elaborate distraction for Shockwave's real plan, and also see the Driller monster in the area too, being repaired. The sisters try to warn Optimus, but they're signals are being jammed by Soundwave, who appears with his minions and starts attacking the Autobot sisters.
Elita manages to escape and races off to warn Optimus in person, but Astrotrain chases her. The Autobots arrive in Philadelphia to Starscream's shock, as Shockwave told him they'd be occupied, which Shockwave confirms, revealing that Starscream IS the diversion. He cuts off the communication and begins his attack on Diego Garcia and proceeds to slaughter the humans and Autobots stationed there still, including Knock Out, Dune Runner and Galloway with great ease.

In Philadelphia the Autobots are winning the battle, but are unaware of the chaos back at base, Jolt manages to start a communication to Prime, but is cut off by Shockwave before he can say anything worthwhile. Shockwave kills Jolt and frees Fearswoop and leaves the base utterly destroyed. Elita arrives in Philadelphia and races to find Optimus but ends up having to engage Astrotrain in a fight as well.
The battle in Philadelphia is won, as the Autobots realize the Decepticons are trying to retreat now rather than fight some more. Elita kills Astrotrain and manages to reach Optimus to tell him that this was all just a distraction by Shockwave, who rockets into the area and crushes her to death. In the forest their sisters feel Elita's death and Chromia decides that if they're going to die too, they'll take the Decepticons with them, and sets off the explosives.
In Philadelphia Shockwave attacks Mirage and Wheeljack, causing major damage and Optimus engages him in a battle for revenge. Fearswoop arrives to help Shockwave, but is killed when he flies into a forcefield Wheeljack's erected around Shockwave and Optimus. Optimus engages his foe one-on-one. In the forest, Arcee races out of the explosion carrying Chromia and she tells her that they need to fight for life.
Opitmus is winning the fight, and even uses the forcefield to damage Shockwave by pushing him against it, but before he can take his revenge for Elita's murder the Driller monster arrives and rescues his master and the rest of the Decepticons too.
In the aftermath Ratchet says Mirage and Wheeljack can be fixed, but Elita is gone, he also reports an emergency call from the base. Chromia and Arcee send out a call for a pick-up, but it's unclear if it's answered, Epps retires after seeing what Shockwave did at the base, Sam and Carly start dating, Bumblebee is ordered to rejoin NEST and not be Sam's bodyguard anymore by the new head of NEST and Optimus mourns the death of his old friend. Meanwhile Megatron continues with his plans elsewhere, having won this round....

Notes
  • This is essentially the sequel to Nefarious and mentions the events a fair few times
  • Longarm and Salvage are shown as active Autobots here (for a while anyway) and were earlier shown as Allspark Mutations under S7's care, this means that these guys are likely different to those cars shown, and those cameos were just that.
  • The flashback scenes here show Chromia's death, leading to her body being recovered by Flatline for the experiment shown in Tales of the Fallen. This shows that Chromia was the first sister to die, then Elita, and finally Arcee.
  • Shockwave was found by the Soviets and kept inert like how S7 found Megatron.
  • The Decepticons recovered from the Initiative are shown to be more comprehensive than the Autobots that were recovered.
  • This story quite effectively deals with why Galloway and Jolt aren't in DOTM...Shockwave murdered them!!
  • It's unclear if Chromia and Arcee are still alive after these events. Elita is definitely dead, but the others were still alive, but in a forest, however Elita's death MIGHT have lead to them dying as well eventually...maybe a future comic will tell us?
  • Space Case references the events of the IDW pack-in toy comics by, placing them in continuity with the main comics too.
  • The damage to Mirage, Wheeljack and Shockwave shown in this story sort of explains why they look a little different in DOTM, as they've had repairs done to them which altered them a bit.
  • Soundwave keeps jumping from his satellite and Mercedes bodies in this story
  • Megatron seems to already have his Truck mode, but doesn't transform here, nor does he have his half-face (which is in line with the comics as he never had his face blasted in half by Optimus, unlike in the actual movies, but by the time of the DOTM comic he does have half his face missing as well.
  • Divebomb is seen alive and well on Earth here, last time we saw him he was being killed by Screamer on Cybertron.
  • Mikaela's removal from the franchise is explained away here as her dumping Sam

IDW - Foundation

Plot
Optimus is leading a small team through a battletorn field, through the acidic rain in order to get to Megatron, Elita and Ironhide are worried about their friend during this when the group of Autobots encounter a larger group of Decepticons.
A long time ago, Optimus and Megatron, along with their combined troops defended their leader, Sentinel Prime and his device which he's using to try and save the planet from a group of rival robots, who disagree with Sentinel's plans. After a short exchange Sentinel and Wheeljack activate their device which brings a star into proximity with Cybertron, giving the planet, and the Allspark life once more. The enemy Thetacons surrender and pledge allegience to Sentinel's team, and Sentinel declares that all Cybertronians shall now know freedom, a word not known on Cybertron in some time now.
Later, Hatchlings have starting being formed again, meaning that there are new Cybertronians being given off by the Allspark and everyone is happy, except Megatron and Shockwave who still wish to have a war to fight, amongst some other Cybertronians too.
Later still, Sentinel tells Optimus that he wishes to retire now and that he wants Optimus to become the new Prime in his stead, as Megatron watches in secret.

In the present, the Autobots have taken down the Decepticons and Optimus continues his charge towards Megatron, Elita decides to stay behind whilst Ironhide continues to follow his leader to Megatron.
Back in the past Sentinel continues to try and convince Optimus to take his place as Prime, but Optimus refuses, not thinking of himself as a leader. Later Megatron tells this to Shockwave who find sit interesting, but the duo soon come across Starscream fighting off a driller monster attacking some Hatchlings and their carer and they help him. Megatron is impressed with Starscream and invites him to join his team.
Later Sentinel gathers all Cybertronians and announces that Optimus and Megatron shall now be co-leaders of the United Cybertron, with Optimus leading the scientific divisions and Megatron in charge of the defensive teams.
Soon the new divisions have been formed with Optimus leading excavation teams to look into their past, whilst Megatron's teams start taking down the "Malcontents" of Cyebrtron. Ironhide, one of Megatron's troops doesn't really feel at home with them, despite his love of battle. Ironhide later sees Optimus and tells him of his concerns with Megatron's forces and Optimus shows Ironhide some artifacts, leading Opitmus to believe that the Dynasty of Primes really existed in the past.
Optimus is asked to come see Megatron, and his insists that Optimus allows him to take a majority power of Cybertron as his troops are needed to protect their world, Optimus reluctantly agrees.
In the present, Optimus and Ironhide arrive at Megatron's fortress.

At the fortress Megtatron opens a smelting pool upon Opitmus, but even this doesn't deter him from his goal.
In the past Optimus has defeated Starscream after his attempt to assassinate him on the bridge (As seen in Defiance) and escapes with Ironhide and Chromia, members of Megatron's forces, watching from a hiding place. Soon Megatron has his Decepticon army formedand begins an attack on all those who oppose him.
Soon, Sentinel Prime's research facility is attacked, meaning that he and his team are forced to flee and are rescued by Optimus and a defecting Chromia. The Autobots under Optimus' command go into hiding.
Some time later The Fallen leaves Cybertron on the first Decepticon ship with Soundwave. Optimus and Sentinel watch as the ship teakes off and begin their next retaliations against the Decepticons still on Cybertron.
After several battles Sentinel gets a plan to remove all the Decepticons from Cybertron, thus ending the war, but they need some energy from the Allspark to give it power. The Autobots head to the Simfur temple with the Torch, which will be used to power the invention, but when they arrive they find Megatron waiting for them
In the present, Optimus infiltrates the fortress and finds Megatron hiding behind a shield of innocent Hatchlings, but Opitmus doesn't care, he wants to kill Megatron, even if it means killing the innocent to do so.

Outside the fortress in the present Ironhide is under attack from Shockwave and Starscream.
In the past, the Autobots are taking on Megatron, who is easily taking down the Autobots, when suddenly Starscream notices that the female Autobots are missing from the battle. The three females break into the temple and Elita uses the Torch to take some of the energy whilst Optimus distracts Megatron long enough for her to drive away. Starscream gives chase, but Elita escapes in a tunnel.
Elita arrives at Sentinel's location and gives him the Torch, he takes it aboard his ship, the Ark and tells Wheeljack to take the second ship to help the Auotbots out at Simfur. The Ark flies above the temple, but before it can do anything it is blasted out of the sky by Starscream, causing both Optimus and Megatron to scream out in anger. The Autobots rush off to examine the wreckage for Sentinel, but find no trace of him, leading Optimus to angrily go hunting for Megatron for revenge (ie the present day stuff)
In the present, Optimus ultimately decides he cannot kill the innocent Hatchlings, but instead gives the signal to Wheeljack to proceed, and with that word Arcee and Chromia remove the Allspark from it's podium, and sends the star far away, bathing the planet in darkness and dooms it to death. The Hatchlings attack Megatron, needing Energon, even his to survive and Optimus leaves, helping Ironhide with Starscream and Shockwave in the process. Megatron vows to retake the Allspark.
The Autobots load the Allspark into their remaining ship for safety and Optimus looks to the future and hopes they will find peace and freedom again one day.

Notes
  • Following in the vein of Defiance, this comic is a prequel to the series adding to the events of the previous prequels, which gives some background info for the upcoming (at the time) movie
  • This comic is set before and during Defiance and ends with the Allspark being stolen, just in time for the events shown in the Movie Prequel.
  • This story is mostly shown in flashback, but with a framing story set in the relative present (ie set after the events of the flashbacks)
  • All alternate modes in the character list are Cybertronian, unless otherwise stated
  • Most of the Decepticons shown in the framing scenes of this story are made of generics using existing character models (such as a green Stockade, a Cyclonus coloured Conehead Seeker and so on. Maybe we'll get toys of some of these guys one day?
  • The Thetacons built the temple around the Allspark
  • The Allspark was all that kept a star near Cybertron, which also repowered the cube as well. Thus the removal of the Allspark plunged the planet into darkness
  • This comic explains that whilst Optimus and Megatron held the same amount of power originally, Megatron was able to essentially bully is way into being superior to Optimus.
  • Some of the generics seem to be based on existing characters from former toylines, like 2 of the Decepticons killed by Chromia look quite a lot like Terrorsaur and Rhinox from Beast Wars in their Transmetal bodies.
  • The Ark escapes because, clearly the Space Bridge was activated just as Starscream fired upon it, sending it far away and out of control (it of course is different from it's "destruction" in the movie itself as well.

IDW - Sector 7

Plot
In 1898 Gentlemen Explorers Theo Wells and Walter Simmons narrowly escape from a strange group of monsters from a cave, before they can really recover though Agent Billy North comes to them and tels them that they're needed to look over a man who went insane in the Arctic. After meeting with Captain Witwicky they decide to go to the Arctic to look into his claims of a giant ice man, and are joined by Witwicky's first mate, Reginald Danco and 3 others, making their number 7.
Later the newly formed Sector Seven arrive in the Arctic and find the ice man's cavern and are excited. Far away Jetfire, who was disguised as a ship transforms and takes off to look into the strange energy he just detected.
After some investigation of the Ice Man Jetfire arrives and is disappointed as he thought it would be The Fallen, Jetfire attacks the mostly inert Megatron as he is annoyed, and the humans believe him to be hostile towards them, North starts shooting at the Decepticon and Jetfire kills him for it. The humans run away, and Megatron wakes up briefly, before Jetfire blasts him into the ice again, freezing him once more. Jetfire leaves afterwards and the humans mourn their loss.

By 1913 the Allspark has been found by S7 and the dam has begun being built around it, and Simmons has had his family moved to the middle of nowhere in Nevada to be near it, his wife, Clara is furious about it, and his daughter Margo seems to not care though.
With his new team members, Lou and Herbert Hoover and Ray Thompson begin to extract the cube from the ground and wonder how it relates to Megatron, since they are both so far away. Once the cube is moved they notice some strange lights underneath and decide to investigate. Below in the tunnels they find several charred and dead mutated animals, that remind Theo and Walter of their earlier adventure when they come across Jetfire, who remembers Theo and Walter from the Arctic. The humans leave and Jetfire follows (As Lou shot at him with her guns) and he's shocked to find the Allspark dangling above him. He touches the cube and it sends out a surge, turning all the nearby machinery into robots.
Jetfire is overloaded by the energy and uses a space bridge to escape. The robots are stopped from causing much havoc by opening the dam up and crushing them under the pressure. One car-robot escapes however and drives off alone.
Seeing how obsessed Walter has become with the cube and it's related creatures Theo goes to Clara and tells her to leave with him and be happy...she seems to agree.

In 1934 Bonnie and Clyde rob a bank and escape in a strange transforming car. Later Margo Simmons and Roy Thompson are paired up to investigate the situation, and wait out for them to return to rescue a friend of theirs from jail. Bonnie, Clyde and the car attack the jail and break several prisoners out, Bonnie is injured in the gunfight and captured by S7 and the escapees leave with Clyde.
Later, the car demands that they rescue Bonnie now, and even kills one of the prisoners in the process, causing the others to run away in fear, and Clyde agreeing. Clyde meets with S7 on the road and the car reveals that he really meant that he doesn't want her to be in prison, so he kills her instead. A gun fight ensues and Clyde is killed as well. Margo uses her specially modified gun to kill the car as well

By 1944 Margo has been dead for a while, but her son Billy is now a private in the military. Billy is called in to see his grandfather Walter at Hoover Dam to be debriefed on a mission to Germany where some robot-like experiments have been detected.
Billy is given the tour around the base and inducted into S7 and given a team to lead on the mission. On their way in their ship is attacked and during the airdrop and journey to the castle they are meant to investigate some of the team is killed and Billy loses a hand in laser fire.
Inside the castle, the German's robots (powered by soldiers plugged into them) fight the remaining Americans until he frees Jetfire by accident. The two of them join forces and destroy the German robots and the research created from them studying Jetfire for all these years. Jetfire then takes on a jet mode and flies Billy back home.

In 1954 the S7 base in the Arctic has gone into lock down mode for some reason, with Bill Simmons and some others trapped inside and the power failing inside, meaning that Megatron is defrosting. Walter is called in and calls for B-2's with liquid nitrogen bombs equipped to be ready, just in case, even if it means his grandson dies as well.
Inside the team are worried about what's going on and start arguing. Nolan starts attacking people as he's a bit drunk and he's locked up by Fontaine and Bill whilst Joe Danco is working on Megatron's storage and Anne is just worried all the time.
Fontaine is later found dead and the controls for Megatron are smashed, meaning he'll defrost much quicker. Nolan thinks that someone on the team is a Transformer disguised as a human, so they all take a blood test, during the test it's revealed that Anne is pregnant with Bill's child and they're happy, but none of them is a robot.
Later Bill takes everyone down below to the entrance to some tunnels which lead all the way to Hoover Dam and other locations filled with strange dead creatures, he explains that that's why he there, to investigate the creatures inside there. Suddenly Danco pulls a gun out and points it at the other, revealing that he works for the Soviets now and he's going to use the tunnels to escape and to give information of the robots to his leaders. He's doing this as Reginald Danco was forgotten about by Walter and the others and he wants revenge.
Megatron wakes up and starts smashing around, causing the ice to collapse around Danco and Bill. The liquid nitrogen is dispatched, but Jetfire, disguised as one of the jets swoops in and protects Anne and Nolan before it hits and Megatron is frozen once again. Jetfire returns the two humans to Walter, and Walter is thankful, and asks Anne to keep her baby, but to keep him away from all this (obviously she doesn't keep that promise)

Notes
  • This story shows the early years of Sector Seven, a lot of the Simmons family history, and some of what Jetfire was up to on his journey's around Earth
  • The strange monsters seen at several points in this story are actually Allspark Mutations, albeit organic ones.
  • Megatron is shown in his ROTF body, but he should be in his original one instead
  • This story includes several real life people and events and connects them to either S7 or the Transformers in some way
  • S7 have created weapons to battle the Transformers by the time of 1934
  • The last story in this comic is set in 1954, this can easily mean that there's still more like 50 years of S7 history to show in a potential future comic
  • Joe Danco is shown to have survived the ice collapse and gives information to the Soviets in Rising Storm.
  • Anne is shown to be pregnant with Seymour in 1954, this means that in the first Transformers Movie he would be about 53 years old

IDW - Nefarious

Plot
In orbit, Soundwave is monitoring Earth for activity and witnesses Alice being hunted down and killed by the Autobots and NEST, and remarks about how Galloway is essentially doing his work for him, by constantly trying to break up NEST and get rid of the Autobots due to his own prejudices. Soundwave decides to look for Ravage to see why he was activated again recently.
The Initiative swarm over the rubble of the building Ravage was buried under and prepare to extract Ravage, NEST finds out about this and sends out a team led by Bumblebee to find out what's happening, at the same time Buzzsaw monitors this situation too and Soundwave sends out his minions to retrieve ravage first, and kill everyone else.
The Initiative find Ravage's inert body and starts extracting the Allspark energies from the Appliance Bots he stole earlier when Soundwave's pets attack. The Autobots soon arrive, but Soundwave almost instantly kills Breakaway whilst in the air, and the other Autobots are attacked too. During the battle, the Initiative members are airlifted away and the Decepticons leave, and Buzzsaw places an object on Ravage. Soundwave is annoyed as he can't find any trace of the Initiative's vehicles or troops now.
Elsewhere, the heads of the Initiative commune via a holographic conference, during which they are happy about the recent mission and begin their next stages. Afterwards, Carter Newell leaves the "meeting" and looks over a half-constructed Allspark under his control.

Galloway is shouting at Lennox for sending out the Autobot team earlier without asking him first, and also reveals that the threat levels have been lowered to Blue, which means that there should be no more need for battles after a long time of no activity, and Galloway plans to have all NEST members reassigned before long.
As the Autobots and their human allies worry about the Initiative team, another group are at the damaged building, where Buzzsaw and Ravage spring out, with Ravage now back under Soundwave's control again. Soundwave has Buzzsaw go to Utah, and has Ravage meet with the other Minions before he can arrive to work out what happened to him, and why.
Back at the Initiative Carter has the Allspark mostly completed, but it needs more of it's energy, so they decide to get it from Sector Seven's old base, Hoover Dam. In Utah Buzzsaw and a team of Decepticons arrive at a barn, which was in Ravage's memory banks and start investigating it, whilst Soundwave examines Ravage for what happened to him. In the barn the Decepticons find a bomb, and run away before it detonates. The Initiative recieve a signal saying that one of their facilities has just blown up and inform Carter about it. NEST detect the explosion as well and decide to send out a team to deal with it, despite Galloway's objections.
Ironhide and Sideswipe are sent out to Utah where they manage to take down Reverb and Brakedown before Dirt Boss pretends to surrender to give Soundwave a chance to arrive and attack the Autobots with Ravage. However Optimus Prime arrives as well and manages to subdue Soundwave, but Dirt Boss manages to escape too.
Meanwhile Galloway has just lost the signal from Hoover Dam (as he's been monitoring all Transformer hotspots on Earth, so he decides to divert his jet to investigate, unknown to him though, the Initiative are in the Dam gathering Allspark energies.

Bumblebee and his team have been given custody of Soundwave so they can transport him to a high level facility in Odessa, Texas, which is being prepared by Optimus, Ironhide and Sideswipe. On the way to Odessa Buzzsaw attacks the plane and causes it to crash in the middle of nowhere. Meanwhile Galloway has been taken to an air base where he gets reinforcements to go with him to Hoover Dam. Carter learns of the incoming helicopters to the Dam, and has an "airborne agent" sent out to deal with them.
Bumblebee's team decides to transport Soundwave on the ground now, but run into his minions and Dirt Boss, the NEST team gets worried about where the transport with Soundwave has gone, whilst Bumblebee and his team battle the minions. Ravage goes to free Soundwave, but the Initiative take control of him again, and he runs off. Bumblebee however does free Soundwave, as it's the only way he can see to stop his minions from fighting and allow him and his team to escape.
On their way to Hoover Dam, one of the helicopters in Galloway's group is shot down by an antique looking Bi-Plane, which also slices off the rear of his own helicopter's tail, causing it to start to fall.

Galloway's helicopter has crashed and he and his aide Frank run off to hide whilst the army guys fight the old plane, which unknown to them is being controlled by the Initiative, during the battle Frank has a piece of shrapnel sliced through his abdomen  Galloway runs off for one of the radios to call for help as he watches as the bi-plane transforms into the transformer Ransack. NEST picks up the message and dispatch a team to rescue Galloway.
Ravage has been taken in by the Initiative, but unknown to them Soundwave has had a tracer implanted on Ravage so he can follow him, he and his team arrive outside their base and he has Dirt Boss go first to set off the automated defenses first, he then sends in his forces to fight the guns etc, but they are all slowly taken down by the Initiative's forces, as well as some of their captured Transformers under their control, which subdue Soundwave as well.
Near Hoover Dam, Galloway is being chased by Ransack, but is rescued when the Twins arrive and chase him away, allowing a NEST team to blast him out of the sky. Frank is taken to hospital and Galloway thanks Lennox and his team, and starts changing his views on NEST and the Autobots.
NEST and the Autobots investigate Hoover Dam and remember that the Allsaprk was stored here, also Ironhide finds Soundwave injured, and the Decepticon offers an alliance with the Autobots against the Initiative.
The Initiative have moved their base, where Carter is talking to a Transformer (Fortress) who he has trapped and promises that all of his kind will be killed soon.

Optimus meets with Soundwave in California, where they learn that the Initiatve must have a mobile base, which is why it's suddenly gone now. The Transformers and NEST start hunting down the Initiative using Soundwave's talents as well, but Soundwave keeps his knowledge of the controlled Transformers to himself. Galloway officially apologizes to Lennox for his actions, and says he'll try to trust the Autobots from now on as well.
The Initiative have moved their base to Oregon where the Allspark has been reformed, and Carter links himself up to it as part of a plan of his, he begins a holo-conference with the rest of the Initiative's command, whilst Sounbwave checks on security footage and manages to track the Initiative to Oregon, the united team head out towards them.
In the meeting, Carter is moaned at by the others for him not informing them of every step in the Nefarious project and that they want to cancel it. Carter, in response uses his new Allspark connection to connect to machines in the offices next to the Initiative members and creates Mutations to kill them all, leaving him as the only head remaining.
On the way to the Initiative's base Optimus feels a lot of pain due to the Allspark's corruption and misuse. At the Initiative Ingrid starts spying on stuff and manages to get the passcode to enter the room Fortress is being held in, whilst the Initiative discover the Transformers and NEST approaching their base. The teams take out the outer defenses with great ease. Carter has the controlled Transformers sent out to fight their former friends, whilst inside the base Carter is told that the Allspark is going into meltdown due to him drawing too much power from it.

Carter's become mad with the power of the Allspark as now he finally has the power to get revenge for the last 80 year's he's suffered because of the Transformers. Outside the base the Transformers are fighting with their controlled friends (And some enemies as well) and are trying not to kill them in the process. Optimus is worried that the Allspark is going to explode and take the planet with it, whilst Soundwave leaves the battle to go after Ravage whom he wakes up again.
Kirkpatrick tries to stop Carter from using the Allspark anymore, but Carter just blasts him with it's energies, which renders him to ash. Meanwhile Ingrid runs off and breaks into Fortress' room, where she sees Fortress and asks him why Carter hates the Transformers so much. Outside, the battle is going badly as the Autobots are having problems dealing with their mind-controlled friends.
Inside the base, Fortress tells Ingrid the story about how a fight between him and Ransack about 80 years ago led to Carter's parents being killed in a car crash, and Carter being paralyzed. Fortress felt so bad that he allowed himself to be captured by Carter and forced to help him in his eventual plans.
Elsewhere in the base, Ravage, now BACK under Soundwave's command again sends out Reedman to attack Carter, whilst Carter is using the Allspark to start to overload the Transformer's sparks outside, however Reedman slashes the human before being blasted by Carter.
Carter uses the base's transformation ability to turn into it's mobile vehicle mode and tries to escape, however Optimus, whom has now stopped feeling the pain and chases Carter's vehicle, whilst Fortress has been freed by Ingrid from the mobile base.
Optimus manages to catch up with Carter and destroys his vehicle. Optimus grabs the Allspark and plans to destroy it, but Carter, still with his connection to it goes to try and kill the Autobot, but is then gunned down by Buzzsaw who then flies off himself.
Optimus prepares to sacrifice himself to save the world when Fortress appears and takes the Allspark from him, and offers to do it himself, he launches into space and it blows up, killing Fortress as well.
In the aftermath everything is pretty much back to normal, the Initiative's survivors are arrested and Soundwave is back in orbit, back to waiting and planning whilst the Autobots wonder about the future again.

Notes
  • This story is a sequel to ROTF, and is also essentially part 1 of the DOTM Prequel story too.
  • The Transformers don't seem to like the idea of Pretenders like Alice
  • Alice survived her collision with Mikaela's car in ROTF...She doesn't fair so well against Sideswipe however
  • Ravage was trapped under the building from the start of this story in his Tales of the Fallen issue
  • Soundwave is revealed to have several minions (though Laserbeak isn't included for some reason)
  • Buzzsaw's character model is based on the toy only Booster X10, and was clearly originally meant to be Laserbeak, but was altered to Buzzsaw
  • Due to the very bad artwork used for the robots (seriously, half the time it looks like the artist grabbed a toy and threw it in a blender and just drew what he saw afterwards) it's hard to work out who some characters are, or they just seem to be drawn wrong (like in Dune Runner's case, where he's drawn like Landmine)
  • Oh my god! The scene with all the Initiative controlled Transformers is just a headache of unidentifiable and mis-coloured characters!
  • Really? How does Buzzsaw turn into that Helicopter exactly??
  • The Allspark being able to be reformed from a small piece was sort of explored in ROTF where the small shards left over seem to hold the whole power of the thing.
  • It's not shown here, but the next storyline shows that the controlled Transformers were later recruited back to their respective factions.
  • It's not clear where the Initiative got all these Transformers, with the Decepticons it's posisble they took some who were killed during the unseen fights from Alliance, but the Autobots are a bit more confusing (considering for one thing that Smokescreen was on Mars when he was killed)

IDW - Tales of The Fallen

Bumblebee
Plot
Bumblebee returns to Tranquility to act as Sam's guardian again and the two have fun together, however Sam's parents (who know about the Transformers by now) tell him that Bumblebee can't stay with them when Sam goes off to college. Sam's annoyed and goes to see Mikaela, be says to Bumblebee that he wants him to stay behind tonight, however on the way there Sam is abducted.
Later Mikaela calls Sam's parents to ask where he is, so Ron tells Bumblebee that Sam's missing, and he races off to find him. Bumblebee receieves a message from someone asking for the Allspark in exchange for Sam.
Elsewhere, Barricade is dangling Sam over a car compactor ordering him to give him the Allspark fragment when Bumblebee arrives and frees his human friend. The two robots fight, and Bumblebee eventually wins by dousing Barricade in gasoline and then shooting him, cauing an explosion. Bumblebee and Sam escape, but unseen to them so does Barricade.

NEST notices him and tells Optimus to bring him in or he'll be killed. Ironhide is sent out and soon finds him fighting with Demolishor again, he helps Sideswipe against Demolishor. The mexican army is sent in to deal with the warring robots, and chase off Denolishor, however Ironhide defends Sideswipe from one missile, injuring himself before the other Autobots and NEST arrive and stop the problem, Sideswipe probably joins the team after this.

Notes

  • Sideswipe is shown to have a history with Demolishor, pity he never ended up with the kill-shot against him huh?
  • This story shows Sideswipe appearing before Arcee and the Others here, which MIGHT contradict the scene in Alliance.
  • Sideswipe has pop up guns in vehicle mode, which is added to his alternate mode in later toys.

Jetfire
Plot
Jetfire, in the past completes another mission for The Fallen and creates energon from a star using a harvester on a lifeless world (or so he thinks). Later the duo meet with the Dynasty of Primes in their dimension who are upset by the planet that was just destroyed in fact had life upon it and then all vow to not use the harvesters on worlds with life. The Fallen isn't happy, and Jetfire is confused as he didn't know the planet was lifeless. The Fallen begins his own faction, the Decepticons with Jetfire as a member.
Later Jetfire and The Fallen go to Earth, where they find lifeforms, but The Fallen doesn't care and starts killing the humans he finds, Jetfire is shocked and tries to stop his master before the harvester can be used there.
The rest of the Dynasty of Primes arrive on the planet to confront The Fallen for his actions, The Fallen transports Jetfire and his other Decepticons away to fight alone. Jetfire and the Decepticons fight it out, but Jetfire manages to take them all down one by one. Afterwards he starts travelling the world, searching for thousands of years.
Eventually Jetfire comes across a stealth jet that's just crashed and assumes it's form.

  • Jetfire's travels around the world after defeating The Fallen's troops is shown in Sector Seven

The Fallen
Plot
The Fallen has been using the harvester to power up the Allspark, but uses stars that are responsible for planets with life, against the Dynasty's laws, so he starts a revolution against his brothers and actively seeks out to kill all lesser lifeforms for their star's energy. Over time he gathers up a large load arsenal of weapons.
The Fallen sets a trap for his brothers by setting up the Harvester on another planet, Earth, and asks for his brothers to come with the Matrix so he can activate it.
Jetfire turns against his master for his actions and is sent away by The Fallen along with his other Decepticons whilst The Fallen battles and slaughters his brothers. • This is the only "Tales" story to be set AFTER the movie, with all the others being background for the characters included

Arcee
Plot
Arcee's ship is attacked by Thundercracker and all aboard are killed, later Arcee wakes up in Flatline's lab in a new body, next to her sister's in new bodies as well and he plans to use her and her sisters as an experiment in creating a new type of warrior, after his failed experiment using Skids and Mudflap.
The three sisters are reactivated and now share a mind to some extent, unfortunately for Flatline, the sisters are still Autobots, break free and start attacking the Decepticons in the base after freeing the twins.
After a quick battle, the 5 Auotbots escape after avoiding the lab's self destruction, and the Decepticon's own escape. The 5 Autobots later leave on the Twin's ship and head towards Earth, to answer Optimus' call for reinforcements.

Notes

  • This story shows what happened after Reign of Starscream, and shows why Arcee has a new tripartate body, as well as why Elita is alive again. Chromia's past life is explored later.
  • This story shows that Skids and Mudflap are a bit dim-witted because Flatline experimented on them
  • Wow Flatline is dumb, he upgraded Arcee and her sisters with greater abilities and DIDN'T make sure that she was mind-wiped or something first?!?
