Plot
Before the War, Nightbeat and Quark are hanging out at Maccadam's discussing the Decepticon movement. when they discover the dead body of Senator Sherma hanging from the previously named Interstate Bridge (later renamed Sherma Bridge after the dead guy).
In the present Rewind calls together several crew members who are all connected by a past event to Swerve's bar to share a story in the hope of it helping Rung to make neural connections, to help him get better. Rewind starts off the story by bringing everyone up to speed on the events just before (basically Chaos Theory) and then has Chromedome begin.
Chromedome and Prowl are looking over Sherma's body and Chromedome determines that Decepticons were responsible for his death, due to the large Decepticon Insignia engraved on his back. Prowl decides they need to perform an autopsy.
Skids interrupts the story to ask who Prowl is, shocking everyone, and they quickly summarize who he is, and afterwards Rewind has Drift pick up the story. In the past, Drift was an addict, who began to overload, when two Decepticons, Sonic and Boom attack him, but are stopped by the police officer, Orion Pax, who quickly disables and arrests them. Orion takes Drift to a small clinic Ratchet set up to help the vagrants of Cybertron, without the Senate finding out.
Drift exaggerates some of the things Ratchet said in the past (ie implying him to be religious), which angers Ratchet for him being an unreliable narrator. Drift then says that Ratchet really said that Drift shouldn't waste his life on drugs etc as he's special, which leads ratchet, in the present to stay a bit quiet, as he's embarrassed. Drift then mentions that he planned to go to the Relinquishment Clinic to donate his body.
Tailgate asks what the Clinic was, and it's explained to him, which Ratchet comments on how it led somewhere bad, bringing him back to the story, where he recalls how he and Orion watch the news of Nominus Prime's death on the news, and how Ratchet recalls how he shouldn't have died from the injuries he sustained, leading him to believe he was murdered. Orion offers to take him to meet a friend of him.
Drift has to leave the bar as Rodimus keeps calling him, and Chromedome returns to his part of the story, with him and Prowl inspecting the dismantled body of Sherma and determining through some evidence that they should head to the Translucentica Heights to look for more clues. Across town, Ratchet and Orion have gone to the Ark-1 memorial and meet with Orion's senator friend who discusses with Orion about how he believes Sentinel murdered Nominus for the Matrix, which they then discovered was fake (as the real on isn't found until Orion takes it in Autocracy). The Senator believes the Senate are planning something with the Decepticons, and comments on how they sent Megatron off world rather than killing him (thus martyring him).
Chromedome and Prowl arrive at the Heights where they immediately find a body thrown out of a building, again with a Decepticon insignia on his back.

At the Oil Reservoir, Drift finds Rodimus with Grapple, who has just pulled the dead, decapitated body of Red Alert out of the oil, and Rodimus believes Cyclonus is responsible for some reason.

Notes
  • This comic is the direct sequel to Chaos Theory, and a prequel to Megatron Origin
  • YAY! Nightbeat's back (in the flashback anyway...)
  • In the flashback, Rung is making a model of the Lost Light's ship type
  • Sherma Bridge is named after the senator who was hung from the bridge
  • Rung has had a head rebuilt for him, but his brain isn't able to work properly right now...hence the story telling.
  • The Relinquishment Clinic, mentioned earlier in the series as how Chromedome met Rewind, is shown here to be a place where people can excahnge their sparks into new bodies. This was previously shown to happen in the Transtech comics from the Collector's Club as a plot point, and is supposed to be illegal.
  • Skids doesn't know who Prowl is, but know's the "other Prowl", Dent from Delphi
  • Drift used to be a vagrant in Rodion hooked on Circuit Boosters
  • Ratchet has spray painted his hands from Pharma's blue colour, to his own usual red
  • The Infomercial for the Relinquishment Clinic features images from G1 Drill Powerdasher and Blurr's toy instructions
  • This story confirms Nomnius Prime's death following the announcement of his attack in Chaos Theory, and it's implied that Sentinel killed him (leading to Megatron Origin)
  • Chromedome isn;t a Mnemosurgeon in the flashback, but is interested in it
  • Tailgate's name was on the Ark-1 memorial
  • Drift didn't know the Lost Light has an Oil Reservoir
  • Swerve was looking for Red Alert in the MTMTE Annual, and Chromedome and Skids had their meeting in the Oil Reservoir last issue...kind of morbid that they might not have known a dead body was right under their feet huh?
  • It's possible that Red Alert isn't actually dead, since his body is SO different to how it usually looks in other continuities, it's possible that this was just a shell of some sort, or a spare body (ie perhaps he has the equipment in the Relinquishment Clinic in his room?)
  • It's shown here that the Decepticon faction exists BEFORE Megatron Origin, but as a growing movement rather than a new faction at this point
  • Megatron is mentioned to have been shipped off to Messatine, the future home of Delphi. This implies that this is the world where Megatron is seen mining on at the start of Megatron Origin.
  • Chromedome used to have a different name
  • Tailgate is at the story telling most likely to help him learn more about the past.
  • To count, prowl has flipped 5 tables when angry, and also snapped a table on Cybertron since the ship left.
  • It's implied here that Rodimus calls Drift bad words when he's angry...wonder what they are?
  • Slamdance has taken over the news broadcast from Blaster it seems, implying that he's set up his pirate radio broadcast by this time.
  • It's likely that the Roller who is mentioned several times here is either a previous incarnation of Optimus Prime's future drone buddy, or the drone is named after him.
  • Quark jokes that Rung looks like he might be wired up to spy on people...oddly he DOES have a microphone in his thumb!
