Plot
Half a Million years ago, Alpha Trion and Metroplex take off from Cybertron, to take themselves out of the equation for Megatron's grand schemes, and to hunt down Shockwave to find out what his big plan is (Dark Cybertron)
Last month, Megatron's trial concluded, and he's been inducted into the Autobots, which Prowl isn't happy about. Cosmos doesn't seem to care too much, but just wants someone to talk to, considering he's normally ignored and alone. Optimus sets his team off to Earth, on Alpha Trion's request, via Windblade. Optimus allows Starscream to remain leader of the people, as they elected him. But he warns him that with Metroplex as the city once more, he had better behave.

Thundercracker flies around Earth, preparing a new screenplay he's planning to get made into a TV series (it's terrible) when he returns home and finds his dog, Buster, outside and wonders how she got out alone. Inside he finds Marissa Faireborn, Director of the EDC and she tells him they need his help with something, in repayment for them keeping him hidden from the population.
Soon afterwards Optimus and a few other Autobots have return to Earth. Upon arrival in orbit their ship is attacked by very advanced weapons, so Optimus has the ship parked behind the Moon, whilst they fly down to the surface in the mush smaller Sky Lynx, with Cosmos acting as backup.

Sky Lynx lands on the planet's surface, and Optimus, Jazz and Kup roll off towards a Cybertronian signature, leaving Prowl, Arcee and Sky Lynx to their own mission.
Optimus and his team arrive at the signature, where they find Thundercracker living in peace, apparently waiting for them. Once there Thundercracker comments that he's glad Bumblebee didn't come here, as he liked him, which confuses Optimus. Optimus reveals that Bumblebee died saving the universe (a bit of an overstatement....) and Thundercracker claims that it wasn't worth the cost. Optimus asks where Alpha Triion is, to which Thundercracker laughs as he hasn't seen him since the early war (Spotlight: Orion Pax).
Optimus then reveals that Megatron has joined the Autobots, and declares the war truly over, to which Thundercracker seems incensed, and cant's believe hat it was actually true...leading Galvatron from the outside to tear open the wall and ask why he would have lied to him about that.

Galvatron leads a group of Decepticons and attacks the 3 Autobots, Thundercracker freaks out that they're destroying his house, leading Optimus to lead the fight outside instead, where he finds Marissa (holding Buster to keep her safe) and her EDC troops aiming at him, and charges him with war crimes by allying with the mass murderer Megatron. And asks him why he's returned to her planet, but suggests that he doesn't give up willingly as she wants to kill him.

Notes
  • This marks the beginning of Robots in Disguise's second season, which shifts the focus from Cybertron to Earth.
  • Thundercracker is revealed to be still on Earth, and has settled into his own home, but has to checck in with the EDC on a regular basis.
  • He also doesn't appear to have an insignia any more either...
  • The EDC appears to have taken Skywatch's place on Earth now.
  • Thundercracker's dog's name "Buster" is a reference to Spike's brother in the Marvel comics. It was also used as the name for Sam's dog in the Dark of the Moon novel.
  • Marissa Faireborn is of course based on the G1 cartoon character of the same name
  • Aww Bumblebee appears in the flashback....too soon John....too soon.....
  • Alpha Trion and Metroplex are revealed to have left Cybertron to stop the Decepticons from targeting them (ie going after Metroplex's Titan magic) and they also begin tracking Shockwave, who by this point has left Cybertron to tend to his Regensis Ores.
  • Optimus' team in this issue are shown to have taken on all new Earth alternate modes, even Optimus appears to have a new truck form.
  • Optimus appears to be a bit distrustful of Prowl now, most likely after learning about all that happened in the last couple of years.
  • Prowl's mentioned team are obviously the Constructicons (this is made even clearer with a preview cover image showing Devastator fighting with Galvatron)
  • It's hinted here that the reason Starscream want's everyone to leave Metroplex and move back to the damaged Iacon is because Optimus threatens that Metroplex will just crush him if he does anything too wrong.
  • It's revealed that Windblade and her crew spent a short while with Alpha Trion before he left for his "Holy Grail" but left a message for Optimus to come to Earth for him.
  • Galvatron has ACTUALLLY joined the Decepticons now, and appears to lead them following Megatron's defection.
  • Both Kup and Jazz have returned to Earth, most likely for closure following their bad experiences on the planet (Jazz killing a human and being reprimanded, and Kup being zombified and sent back to the beginning of the Dead Universe)
  • Marissa's comments about voiceovers in Thundercracker's script is a jab at Robots in Disguise itself, which uses a lot of voiceovers
  • Thundercracker seems concerned about Sharkticons being on Earth...another hint towards a Quintesson plot coming up maybe?
  • Soundwave and his minions appear to be in their Masterpiece forms on Earth now.

Titan - Transformers Prime #20

Title: Starscream's Beast
Script: Chris Cooper
Art: Andres Ponce
Lettering: Comicraft

Cover Date: MAY/JUN 2014
Cover Price: £3.99
Poster: The Decepticons
Plot
Starscream is feeling annoyed with Predaking, as he only obeys Megatron and not himself, so he strops around the Nemesis and winds up in Shockwave's lab, where he finds a Predacon fossil that Shockwave has for some reason left unattended.
Starscream takes a sample of the fossil's CNA and infuses it with some of his own (to fill in the gaps) and places it in a CR chamber, accelerates the process and creates his own Predacon soldier. However the new Predacon appears to have taken on Starscream's stubborn nature and refuses to follow him. Starscream makes the mistake of striking the Predacon, angering him and leading him into a rage, and begins to chase after him in his bull-mode around the ship. (Along the way Starscream decides to name him Tantrum).
Along the way Tantrum smashes through several Vehicons and incinerates some Insecticons before ctahing up to Starscream and declares himself as superior to Starscream, and decides he must be destroyed.
Starscream attacks Tantrum, and actually manages to destroy him very easily (most likely due to faulty construction) and Starscream begins to plan how to cover this up.

Soon, Predaking is hunting around the ship as he sensed Tantrum's presence when he, along with Megatron and Shockwave, find Tantrum's remains. Megatron immediately suspects Starscream, but Starscream has framed a random Vehicon by editing the CCTV footage to show him in his place. Megatron accepts this as true and kills the Vehicon because of his treachery.
Megatron has Starscream and the others clean up the mess as an example in case of any further attempts at a coup. Whilst doing so Starscream takes some of Tantrum's remains and plans to create more new troops of his own....
Characters
Decepticon/Predacon
Megatron - Space Ship
Starscream - Fighter Jet
Shockwave - Tank
Tantrum - Bull
Predaking - Dragon Killed by Starscream
Traitor Vehicon - Flying Car Killed by Megatron
Vehicons - Fling Cars
Insecticons - Beetles
Notes
  • Starscream, and the audience are left to wonder why Shockwave left the Predacon fossil out alone in his lab for anyone (ie Starscream) to take. In Prime he seems fully loyal to Megatron, so it seems a bit out of place.
  • Predaking being fully loyal to Megatron here seems to place this before his sentience was discovered in Season 3. However if this is the case, then why does Starscream not seem freaked out when he finds out that Trantrum can talk and transform here? This has been an ongoing issue in this series though as in previous issues we've had Skylynx and Darksteel running around and so on...just go with it! Also, he is named in the story AS Predaking too, which he wasn't named until after his revelation.
  • Tantrum is clearly based on the G1 Predacon of the same name.
  • Tantrum's insignia is clearly a Decepticon one, but really it should be a Predacon one. This could be explained away (as well as his intelligence etc) by him having Starscream's CNA inside him.
  • The briefly shown Insecticons in this issue are in what appears to be G1 colours
  • Tantrum seems weaker that other Predacons as he blows up from just having 2 of Starscream's missiles hitting...I guess this could be due to him having an accelerated creation or something.
  • It sounds like the next issue will be a movie rebranding again

IDW - Windblade #1

Title: A 'Bot And Her City
Written by: Mairghread Scott
Art by: Sarah Stone
Letters by: Chris Mowry
Editorial Assistance: Rebecca Huard
Editor: John Barber
Plot
Six months have passed since the climax of the Dark Cybertron prophecy, and Metroplex has been made the last city on Cybertron. Windblade has been made the "Cityspeaker" for Metroplex, since he is unable to talk still due to his injuries, and Starscream is still in charge of the planet.
Starscream meets with Windblade to ask her why the city (Metroplex) is losing power, she says she's working on the problem, but he doesn't believe her. He thinks she's trying to undermine him and make him seem like a weak leader, and threatens her to fix the problems, or he'll turn everyone against her.

As Starscream and Rattrap leaves, Chromia wonders why no-one ever killed Starscream. Windblade however agrees with Starscream, she NEEDS to find out what's wrong with Metroplex.
She goes to converse with his brain module and learns that there's a power diversion in a section of the city she hasn't found yet, but thinks that Ironhide might know where it is, due to him exploring the depths, she teases Chromia about telling him how she feels about him before flying off.

Windblade manages to find Ironhide and feels sorry for him losing his faith in the future following Drak Cybertron, but she does learn where the junction she needs is located, so she calls Chromia to meet her there.

The two female Autobots start searching the area, but can't find the appropriate junction so Chromia forces Windblade to call it a night. On the way home, Windblade comes across Maccadam's Old Oil House, and decides to do some recon on Starscream, to see what sort of a person he is....Before long she has been through the entire bar and has learned that Starscream is only out for himself, and will get rid of anyone who gets in his way.

The next day Chromia and Windblade get ready to start their search again when suddenly a bomb goes off and Windblade is badly injured. Chromia manages to save her life and several others around her. Starscream blames the explosion on poor maintenance and urges the populace to move back to the Iacon Ruins (they don't)

During her recovery, Windblade recalls how her planet was visited by Thunderclash and told about the problems with Metroplex, which is how they were sent to him in the first place, and recalls how she hoped to find Cybertron, the long lost planet of their origins, a nicer place than Caminus, but instead found it as a ruin during a massive battle.
She ends her reverie by showing that she saw Rattrap leaving the site, just before the bomb was set off, which told her something important...Starscream tried to kill her, and will likely try again!

Notes
  • As to be expected from her titular comic, we learn a lot about Windblade here. Her face makeup is made in honour of Caminus, the Titan from her homeworld. Her affinity with speaking to Metroplex is revealed to be actually a learned skill from her planet.
  • Chromia is revealed to be a bodyguard here, explaining her fighting skills shown in Dark Cybertron.
  • Starscream is revealed to be still in charge of Cybertron here, despite having his plans to vilify Metalhawk exposed to the Autobots, and Rattrap is still his second in command too!
  • The pictograms Windblade sees when she speaks to Metroplex are sort of similar to those seen by Skids on "Cyberutopia" so most likely he was talking to a Titan at that point.
  • Chromia being worried about Windblade telling Ironhide she thinks he's mopey is sort of a reference to their relationship in the G1 cartoon.
  • The city of Iacon is revealed to have been destroyed fully in Dark Cybertron. To the extent that Metroplex is now the sole city left (why they haven't built any more settlements in 6 months is beyond me of course!
  • Ironhide's faith from the earlier RID issues is gone now, since several points from his vision of the future have been rendered mute (Gorlam Prime being destroyed is a major one of course). So now he's exploring Metroplex to find answers
  • Blurr has reopened Maccadam's Old Oil House again! This time it looks like a traditional pub.
  • Fizzle is revealed to have left the Lost Light here.
  • Following his attack from Bludgeon near the end of Dark Cybertron, Waspinator is shown to be alive after all!
  • The two Tankors have become friends, to the extent that other people refer to them as Fat and Tall Tankor to distinguish between them.
  • Swindle looks a bit like his Animated counterpart
  • Circuit is still running his news service
  • Titans are revealed here to have naturally occurring Hot Spots within them, explaining how new Cybertronian life can be born on new worlds.
  • One of the Camien Cityspeakers resembles Prime Arcee.
  • Female Transformers are explained simply as existing because they evolved that way on Caminus.
  • If my theory that the Knights of Cybertron are actually the Original Thirteen, then the one that Caminus is supposed to guard is most likely Solus Prime.
  • It's not explained how Windblade and the others are Autobots. Maybe Thunderclash inducted them?

Plot
The battle with the Ammonites isn't going well, despite all the heavy hitters and brave fighting, the Ammonite army has only suffered a small loss to their numbers, leaving the command crew on the Lost Light to hope that the team in Crystal City will succeed in their mission.
At the Time Ship in Crystal City, Jhiaxus, in his Starscream "cosplay" armour fights with Starscream, whilst Metalhawk and Rattrap try to figure out how to stop what's happening all around them. Metalhawk realizes that he can burn out all the ores that are causing all the problems, but knows it'll be at a great cost.
Nearby, Optimus and his crew have left the portal created in Brainstorm's chest and have defeated Bludgeon, however Nightbeat, Kup and Cyclonus, who were all "part" of the Dead Universe all begin to feel ill. Brainstorm says he can whip up a medicine to save them, but he needs the help of one of the "hero types" left to get them back, forcing Rodimus, Magnus and Optimus to decide who should stay out of the "final battle".

Shockwave and Megatron continue their battle, and Shockwave states that his final goals are to make Megatron's goals a reality, by making everyone equal, since no-one shall exist any more! Megatron says that's not what he wants, when he is joined by Optimus and Magnus.
Shockwave quickly blasts Magnus out of the fight, but starts to feel strange as he begins to remember his past life as the Senator.

Rodimus, Skids and Brainstorm help the ill Transformers towards the Lost Light so they can reach Brainstorm's lab, but when they reach the planet's surface they find the sky filled with several moments in Cybertronian history, meaning that reality is beginning to fold in on itself.

Back in the Time Ship, Starscream is losing the battle, until Metalhawk finally connects himself into the Ore's power-system (as he was revived using another Ore) and pushes them off balance, resulting in both his death and the destruction of the Ores. In the process he overload's the ship's power and kills all the Ammonites, who were connected to the Ores as well.
In the aftermath Starscream finally kills Jhiaxus using the swords he didn't even know he had until Jhiaxus just showed him.

On the planet's surface the Transformers are confused as to why the Ammonites are suddenly all dead, but the Autobots think Metroplex used some Titan power to kill them all.
Inside Metroplex's brain chamber, Windblade claims that Metroplex is laughing over the sight of the Ammonites burning up and dying. The Lost Light contacts Windblade and tells her that they're going to ram the ship into Monstructor to tear him apart and that they need their help to take out his component parts afterwards. To which she happily agrees...
Brainstorm and the team reach the Lost Light after it's ramming, and make it to the lab, where Brainstorm admits he's not sure if he can do it, however Rodimus uses Brainstorm's obsession with perceptor to convince him that he can do it.

Down in Crystal City, Optimus tellls Shockwave that he's not going to try and reason with him, as he knows the friend he once knew died the moment he had the Shadowplay implemented, however Megatron instead takes the insignia from Bumblebee's corpse and places it on his own chest and declares that he no longer wishes to be at war with the Autobots, but wishes to join them, having seen the error of his ways.
Shockwave, in a fit of confusion and rage attacks Megatron, convinced that he's just trying to mess with his mind, but Megatron assures him that he is being sincere. However he does admit, along with Optimus that all of this is to try and bring back the old Shockwave, the one they all remembered from before he was changed.

All of a sudden, Shockwave begins to collapse in pain, his timeline has re-aligned and he's been restored to his pre-Shadowplay personality, and is horrified over what he has become. He also reveals that the Time Drive can no longer be removed from his body, leaving only one choice for Optimus and Megatron. The two promise to remember him as who he wass once, and shoot him.
The impact creates a black hole from the Time Drive, Optimus, Megatron and Magnus try to escape, but are being caught up on by the expanding black hole, Bumblebee's body is left behind as he'd just slow them down. Luckily however the Lost Light appears and rescues the trio

The Lost Light escapes the blast and reaches the surface where Soundwave sees Megatron on the ship, and readds his mind, confirming that Megatron is indeed intending to be an Autobot now, and is disgusted after all they did together to oppose the Autobots in the past.
Galvatron, along with Dreadwing and Skywarp arrive at the moment and seem to be glad that he's seeing things like that, and perhaps they need a new approach...

Starscream and Rattrap escape the Crystal City as well, and Starscream immediately begins plans to twist events to make Metalhawk out to be a genocidal maniac who just killed an entire species...then the crew of the Lost Light appear behind him, making him reconsider things...

Later, Optimus and Megatron discuss things on the Lost Light, and Megatron promises Optimus that he is being honest about his desire to join the Autobots and end the war once and for all. Optimus decides to believe him and the duo leave the ship, to find their combined forces waiting for them outside....

Notes
  • Whirl fully acknowledges and even jokes about his being the reason the Great War began (and also for escalating the Ammonite/Terradore war by killing the Terradore leader)
  • It's revealed here that the Dead Universe team used Nova Prime's corpse in the Dead Universe as the opening point for the portal they used to escape, which was linked up to Brainstorm's one in the Living Universe.
  • Shockwave's merging of space/time of course caused his past self to emerge in his preset body, thus essentially undoing the Shadowplay that turned him into the monster he has become.
  • Nightbeat misnames Tailgate as Tailpipe, whom was the Ark-1 crew member who's name was shown on the Ark-1 memorial that Tailgate seemed to try and impersonate earlier on (and who also appeared in Chapter 1 of this event)
  • The events shown in the timestream above Cybertron include several past events in the comics, and the aged Ironhide from the "Pax Cybertronia" future, which shows us that that future is indeed likely to happen, and wasn't just some planted memory by some dark force or something.
  • With Metalhawk's actions it seems like all the Ores which have been plaguing the IDW continuity since it's beginning have been rendered inert.
  • Most likely Metalhawk was the only one revived using Ore-14 to die because he was physically linking himself with the others to overload them.
  • Starscream is shown to have not known all the features of his new body, until Jhiaxus showed him how to use them with his reactive armour.
  • Nightbeat seems a bit intrigued by the Lost Light, much like the rest of us fans, he thinks there's more to it, than meets the eye.
  • Brainstorm's obsession with Perceptor is used against him here as Rodimus uses that to force Brainstorm to make the medicine for the Dead Universe infectees.
  • Optimus seems a bit cold when he tells Megatron to leave Bumblebee's corpse to be sucked into the black hole...maybe he was mad with him for losing the planet to Starscream?
  • Galvatron appears to have joined forces with some of the Decepticons now...maybe he's finally "joining" them?
  • From the looks of things Scoop wa amongst the guys Galvatron was trying to "recruit" as well...wasn't he an Autobot?
  • The Lost Light is referred to as the Autobot's "Flagship" here, despite it not technically being an Autobot ship (as Perceptor said earlier in the series)
  • Small Note...Waspinator may have been killed by Bludgeon last issue after all...he isn't shown here at all!!

IDW - Regeneration One #100

Title: The War to End all Wars Part 5
Writer: Simon Furman
Pencils: Andrew Wildman (1-10), Geoff Senior (11-20), Guido Guidi (21-32)
Inks: Stephen Baskerville (1-10, 21-32), Geoff Senior (11-20)
Colourist: John-Paul Bove
Letterer: Chris Mowry
Editor: John Barber
Editor-in-Chief: Chris Ryall
Plot
Rodimus and his armada return to Cybertron following their battle with Jhiaxus, where they find no-one around, and the planet heavily aged and decayed. Rodimus is convinced that Primus, or the being who has taken his place is responsible when the crew are attacked by shadow leeches. Perceptor manages to analyse one, and discovers that it was once Iguanus, a Decepticon! This means that everyone who was left behind on Cybertron has been turned into one of these leeches who are able to drain living Transformers of their energy.
The Autobots proceed to fight off the leeches, and Rodimus has Jetfire fetch the sword of Primus from his base so they can use it to hopefully stop the leeches.
The Dinobots soon turn up, having been spared by the energy wave that hit Cybertron because Grimlock has immunity (following his possession) and the other Dinobots being in close proximity to him. Rodimus stops Grimlock from just slaughtering the leeches as he hopes to restore them before long.
Jetfire returns with the sword, and Rodimus activates it, sending out a wave of energy that protects them and restores a small area to normal, causing the leeches to flee.

Now they have a free moment Rodimus learns that all this began when Galvatron attacked the Star Chamber and knocked out all the space bridges except the ones between Nebulos, Cybertron and Earth, but before anything could be done about him the whole planet was transformed.
Rodimus reveals to the team that after his experience in the Primus Chamber and seeing a part of the Multiverse he consulted the Covenant of Primus, which told him that Nebulos, Earth and Cybertron are a holy trinity of sorts that affect the Multiverse. He sends Magnus and the others to the Star Chamber to confront Galvatron and stop him, whilst he goes to see Primus in Zero Space.

Inside Zero Space, "Primus" is torturing Spike some more by having his father appear and blame him for his death, all this turmoil is causing the crack in Zero Space to widen, and glimpses from other universes are starting to appear clearer, all whilst "Primus" has Galvatron destroying the cities of Nebulos as part of the Magi-Cal trinity.
Rodimus returns to the Presidium where he takes the Covenant of Primus and uses it's power to transport him to Zero Space where he meets "Primus", aka the Dark Matrix spawn.

The Autobots manage to break into the Star Chamber, but are attacked by the leeches again, Grimlock holds them off whilst the others go through the space bridges to Earth and Nebulos to find and stop Galvatron.

Back in Zero Space, the Matrix Spawn explains everything to Rodimus, he was transported with the other Transformers to Cybertron by Primus just before the Unicron war, where he possessed one of the Acolytes of Unicron, using that confusion he headed to the now empty Primus chamber where he found a graveyard of the bodies of Transformers who had in the past embarked on pilgrimages to see Primus, but died at the end, where he absorbed the crumbs of their spark energies and became more powerful.
Using this new power he was able to dominate the Demons, who were guarding Primus' chamber, and sent them to attack the surface dwelling Transformers so he could have more energy. During Cybertron's mass shift he was absorbed into Primus' chamber and became one with the planet.
Over the next couple of decades he was whispering in the ear of some of the Transformers, like Scorponok and Soundwave and caused all the hardships of recent days, but could only really get started on his true goals to devour the Multiverse itself when the Last Autobot was killed.
Rodimus goes to attack the Matrix Spawn, when it summons three versions of Optimus Prime from the timeline and have them attack the new Prime.

Ultra Magnus' team arrives on Nebulos and finds the place in a bit of a state, so they decide to follow the destruction to find Galvatron.
Meanwhile Prowl's team arrive on Earth, where they find a team of Humans attacking them, they quickly call a truce when they realise Spike and Optimus' disappearances are connected to this whole mess.

Inside Zero Space, Rodimus is being pummelled by the Optimuses, but he manages to fend them off long enough to throw the Covenant into the crack and into the hands of one of his counterparts. Before long, Rodimus' plan is made apparent to the Spawn, as an army of Rodimus' counterparts from across the Multiverse appears and begin to fight with the Spawn.
During the fight, the creature loses control of Optimus for a short time, and he manages to tell Rodimus that the creature cannot be killed, only contained, Rodimus seems unwilling to do that, as it would mean everyone's doom, but knows that it has to happen or the entire Multiverse is in trouble.
Rodimus manages to get through to Spike, and apologizes for the Transformers being responsible for what happened to Earth, which frees him of his demons, which begins to close the crack. Rodimus then makes the ultimate sacrifice and seals the crack up once and for all with the sword, which traps the Matrix Spawn inside Zero Space, unable to ever leave again. This act also sets all those turned into Shadow leeches free, and allows them to truly die.
Meanwhile on Nebulos, Ultra Magnus' team tracks down Galvatron, and manages to finally kill him, but not before Fort Max joins the fight, and has to be stopped as well

Rodimus, Spike and Optimus reappear inside Primus' Chamber, where Optimus dies from his ordeal, but tells Rodimus that what he has done has saved them all, and that now the dream can stay alive....

Many eons later Rodimus is the last Cybertronian alive, he looks back over his life and recalls how Optimus' plan for the Humans and Nebulans to blend their societies for both of their own goods came to happen, and over time their new civilization grew to flourish. He also looks back on how after the crack was sealed, Cybertron was cut off from Primus' power in the Multiverse, and so their days were numbered, they abandoned Cybertron to travel into the Universe and spread a message of peace. Now that it is his time to die, Rodimus has returned to the molten surface of his home world and walks along, until he collapses and hits the floor.

However, the Matrix energies from his now dead body spread out across the planet, cooling the molten planet down to normal again, and gives life to the cocoon forms of the Demons, who are reborn as a new generation of Cybertronian, showing us that it truly never ends.....

Notes
  • SHOCKINGLY Nightbeat doesn't die in this issue!!
  • The Transformers turning grey when attacked by the Shadow Leeches could be a reference to either how Tornadron left his victims in "Call of the Primitives" or just of how Transformers tended to turn greyscale when they died in the cartoon in general.
  • Why does Rodimus assume his sword still exists on Cybertron after the planet is totally decayed?
  • Tailgate's random death adds to the list of characters from More Than Meets the Eye who have died recently (Brainstorm, Misfire etc being earlier examples)
  • It's revealed here that Sparkplug died during Megatron's attack - I don't think it was actually confirmed before now.
  • It's revealed here that the Matrix Spawn is the one who revived Galvatron for his plans, therefore it's quite likely he was responsible for Megatron's revival on Earth as part of his plan to devastate Nebulos, Earth and Cybertron for his grand scheme.
  • It's revealed that the violent actions of the Demons in the past were because they were controlled by the Matrix Spawn.
  • It should be noted that Sludge is never seen with the other Dinobots here, meaning he was probably converted into a leech like the rest of the population :(
  • The 3 versions of Optimus who appear in Zero Space are his original body, his Powermaster body and his current badly damaged body he abducted from Earth.
  • The "Rodimus Corps" seen in the past return here after being contacted by this Rodimus Prime
  • From IDW Rodimus' dialogue, it can be assumed that the it's the Red version of Hot Shot from Galaxy Force who appears and not his Hasbro counterpart Exillion.
  • Ultra Magnus FINALLY finishes off Galvatron! Yay!
  • Whilst not shown on page, it can be assumed that Fort Max was killed by the Autobots
  • The heavily battered Rodimus shown at the beginning of this story arc is revealed to just be a heavily aged version of himself who has reached his natural end.
  • Zero Space is revealed to be the void left behind when Primus was destroyed in this reality.
  • With Primus gone, Cybertron was left dead and is unable to recover, until Rodimus' Matrix energies were released at the end that is.
  • The demons' cocoon forms are shown to still exist on the dead Cybertron, and have given life to new Transformers, such as Botanica!
  • It's mentioned that eons have passed at Rodimus' time of death, which means that the new generation of Cybertronians who are born are in a completely different situation that they were in Beast Wars (where only 200-300 years have passed)
  • The clock-work looking beings Shockwave and his crew visit sure do look a lot like Quintessons huh?
  • Rodimus' fate at the end here seems very fitting, as noted by the Demons when they saw him originally, he looks a lot like Primus, and here he is giving them new life as a creator would!
  • Rodimus also basically does what Jhiaxus wanted him to do as well, he used his Matrix energies to power a new generation!

Title: Dark Cybertron Chapter 11 - Black Planet
Written by: John Barber and James Roberts

Plot
Several months ago in Iacon, Brainstorm is giving Hardhead the once over before he leaves to take Jhiaxus away from Cybertron, and Brainstorm gives him a full bill of health, stating he's now completely free from the Dead Universe's effects. Whilst there Hardhead sees Nova Prime's dead body, and the two start to discuss it when a sudden discharge of energy hits Brainstorm. He claims to be okay, but his instrumentation says otherwise....

Back in the present, the Cybertronians fight off the invading Ammonites. The Lost Light starts to take off with the command inside planning to travel to every landing area on the planet, pick up as many people as they can and leave the planet to the Ammonites, but Perceptor reveals that the Ammonites aren't the only problem, as the space around Cybertron is starting to act weird too, meaning Shockwave is doing is final acts as they speak!

At Crystal City, Shockwave has Turmoil's old ship's time drive attached to himself and has Jhiaxus activate it, forcing Shockwave to relive his life and feel a great amount of pain, Jhiaxus has the rest of their team prepare for the inevitable attack from the other Cybertronians by sending Monstructor out to the city, and Bludgeon and Dreadwing to stand guard.

In Iacon again Magnus contacts Windblade inside Metroplex and manages to get Metroplex into action again, sending him to swat away the multitude of Ammonites (all 70 billion of them). Meanwhile the Lost Light lands again, with the crew inside ready with a new plan: Raid Shockwave's base, and deal with him, despite it being almost impossible.
When they go outside they find Starscream with Metalhawk and the others, including Skywarp who can teleport some of them into the base. During the battle Monstructor arrives and is about to ambush and overwhelmed Metroplex when Prowl and the Constructicons merge into Devastator to engage him.
Skywarp can't teleport everyone who is needed for the mission, so some stay behind, he does manage to bring Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, Ultra Magnus, Waspinator, Rattrap, Skids, Metalhawk and Braisntorm though.

Upon arrival in Crystal City Waspinator is skewered by Bludgeon, whom is then kept occupied by Ultra Magnus, Skids and Brainstorm. Metalhawk, Rattrap and Starscream head off to deal with Jhiaxus, as they think he's the key to everything, whilst Bumblebee and Megatron go to confront Shockwave himself.
Metalhawk and the others find Jhiaxus, but he's wearing a reactive armour that changes to match his opponent's abilities and skills.
At Shockwave's lab, Megatron and Bumblebee are confronted by a scared Dreadwing, whom Megatron simply blasts away, they find an injured Galvatron nearby, and Megatron tries to kill him for all he did to him earlier, but Bumblebee manages to calm him down and makes him try to make peace and asks Galvatron to join them.

Then Shockwave shoots Bumblebee in the back and kills him....

Megatron looks over the body of his new ally and in a fit of rage attacks Shockwave, who is much more powerful now, and tells Megatron that HE is saving the universe by freezing it entirely, and soon death will be another forgotten concept.

Elsewhere, Bludgeon is soundly beating the Autobots when Brainstorm suddenly feels very unwell and collapses, suddenly a hand starts reaching out of his chest...Optimus Prime and his team have used the Dead Universe created portal inside Brainstorm to escape the decaying universe!!

Notes
  • The prologue scene is set during the first couple of pages of More Than Meets the Eye #1
  • Nova's "Nemesis Prime" body is shown to be in Brainstorm's care at the start as well, and explains that his essence was sent back to the Dead Universe, explaining how he got back there for Heart of Darkness and Dark Cybertron, despite being killed on Garrus-9 during Revelation.
  • Brainstorm being "dead" all this time explains a few things throughout the series, such as the Sparkeater actively ignoring him during his rampage, and the off life readings on the Rodpod earlier in Dark Cybertron.
  • Brainstorm owning a Cyber Wraith is also explained, as he probably uses it to keep him from dying in the regular universe.
  • Rivet's Field is revealed here to be the launch site of the Lost Light and the original Ark, it was revealed earlier to be Tailgate's birthplace as well.
  • It's shown here that Turmoil's time ship is being used as the drive to freeze time in place, finally explaining why Shockwave needed it originally
  • When Shockwave links with the "Time Drive" he relives the time around his empurata, friendship with Orion Pax and recruitment into the Decepticons.
  • Jhiaxus shows here that he's following Shockwave, despite being his mentor in the past, because he feels Shockwave is the ultimate intelligence now.
  • The battle against the Ammonites shows a few uncommon appreances, like the rarely seen Windmill, and NEVER seen Gripper!
  • Jetfire is shown in what appears to be his upcoming Generations toy (after he was badly injured earlier of course)
  • Prowl finally gives up and lets himself merge with the Constructicons again.
  • Devastator fighting with Monstructor is somewhat fitting, being the first combiner against the first PERFECT combiner.
  • Waspinator's shock at being alive still is perfect considering his characters history of blowing up throughout the franchise...then he gets stabbed!
  • Jhiaxus' reactive armour is used here to make him look more like his upcoming Generations toy.
  • Metalhawk's actions earlier in Dark Cybertron are shown to have been due to Jhiaxus controlling him to an extent.
  • Megatron preparing to be allies with Galvatron is a bit funny considering in most continuities they're the same guy.
  • Bumblebee's death here is VERY similar to his death in GI Joe vs the Transformers: Art of war by Devil Due Press in that he was killed just basically because he was in the way, or just there, his killer is emotionless, and his death caused a great deal of anger from his allies, and also because it seems to be permanent.
  • Bludgeon comments that Skids' Metallikato is mimicked and not properly learned, unlike his...question is, where did he copy it from?
  • The music heard in the Dead Universe from the previous issue is revealed to have been the singing in Swerve's bar being carried through a small portal inside Brainstorm's body.
  • Cyclonus and Rodimus sure look a lot healthier that they did in the last issue don't they?
  • For the first time this whole series, only one artist and one colourist are on duty!

Plot
Optimus Prime and his team leave Nova's castle to find their portal home has collapsed leaving them separated from Wheelie and Garnak at the Gorlam Prime entrance. Nightbeat manages to find a small tear in the sky however, but it's much too small to fit through...then the entire Dead Universe begins to collapse in on itself...
At Crystal City on Cybertron Shockwave has Galvatron restrained and is using him to draw out the energies from the Dead Universe into himself for his master plan.

At Iacon, the battle with the Necrotitan is over, Metroplex is resting whilst the rest of the Cybertronians, including the returned Lost Lighters are starting to celebrate and begin repairs on themselves. Bumblebee tells Ratchet to make Megatron's repairs a priority as he did save them all with his actions, and begins to wonder about the new arrivals who are using feminine pronouns
During the celebrations Prowl gets annoyed by his Constructicon fanboys, and tries to concentrate on them finishing off Shockwave, but Bumblebee tells him to take a moment to relax, as there must be someone he wants to speak to from the Lost Light.
Meanwhile Ultra Magnus meets with Chromedome at Metroplex and asks him to inject into his brain to help repair his mind following his illness, but Chromedome refuses as he promised Rewind he'd stop doing it.

Ratchet takes Megatron on board the Lost Light and begins repairing him in his medi-bay, during the process Megatron compliments Ratchet on his skills, and even admits that he originally wanted to be a doctor, but didn't have the patience.

In the Dead Universe the team are running from the collapsing universe, and begin thinking of plans to escape, Nightbeat suggests they use the spacebridge inside himself (as he's realised that all Dead Universe denizens must have a spacebridge inside them like Kup, Nova etc) but Optimus refuses to allow anyone to kill themselves to save anyone else, then he and the others start to notice some music coming from somewhere...

Back on the Lost Light Hound is shocked that after all there years of war, the Autobots and Decepticons appear to be at peace, and all drinking and singing in a bar together of all things! At the bar itself Brainstorm is grumpy and complains of a sparkache making him feel ill, then annoys Bluestreak with his mispronunciation of the word "Necrotitan" before Blurr walks into the bar, making Swerve fangirl out. Skids manages to convince Swerve to just talk to Blurr and be casual with him...instead Swerve shakes him hand for several minutes, babbles on about being his stalker and creeping him out entirely.

At Crystal City, Shockwave finishes explaining everything to Galvatron, including about how he was never truly loyal to Megatron and his troops, but just uses them for his own goals, unknowingly also telling Waspinator and Metalhawk the same things from their hiding place high-up. Skywarp arrives and takes the two eaves droppers away so they can tell the others about what they've learned, but leaving before they hear his last comment about how he plans to bring time itself to an end.

Prowl is on the Lost Light and winds up at the medi-bay where he finds Arcee in her new body following her battle damage and pays her a compliment on how nice it is, she doesn't care, then Ratchet tells Prowl that if he's looking for Bumblebee, he's with Megatron, and they're laughing!
Inside his room, Megatron and Bumblebee are having a discussion, on how Megatron thinks they're both similar, since they both had Cybertron in their grasps, but lost it to Starscream. Megatron then admits that he regrets the war, and that he feels that the moment he stopped being a revolutionary and started being a warrior, he lost the people's hearts.
Prowl finds Chromedome outside, and confronts him on how he messed with his head before leaving on the Lost Light, then makes a snipe quip about Rewind's death. Chromedome loses it and throws him off the cliff they're standing on.

Inside Metroplex, Magnus goes to see Windblade to ask how Metroplex is doing, she reports that he's unable to talk still, except through his pattern method which she can understand. Magnus gets to what he wants to asks really though, and asks if Windblade can ask Metroplex about the Knights of Cybertron, but Nautica reveals that they themselves asked him weeks earlier, and he said that none of them deserved to know. Magnus receives a report of Prowl and Chromedome's fight outside and goes to deal with it.

Magnus manages to break up the fight, but also gives Prowl a verbal beatdown on all the evil and amoral things he's done in the past, and that he shouldn't be surprised when others begin to fight back, then leaves him to the company of his new "friends" the Constructicons.

Elsewhere in the ruined Iacon Starscream and Rattrap go to see a despondent Scoop and learn that he heard the whole prophecy from Shockwave before the war even started, suddenly Skywarp appears with Metalhawk and Waspinator to report what they've learned, but not before Metalhawk shoots Starscream for killing him, then moves on...

All the meanwhile Shockwave begins the final phase of his plan to make everything stand still at one point in time, and never change again, thus creating perfect order by calling in his biggest weapon...
Outside the Cybertronians all notice the stars beginning to go out...then they realize that that's not what's happening, the stars are being blocked out by the 70 billion Ammonites who have been summoned by Shockwave, who are there to stop anyone from stopping him in the last crucial stages!

Notes
  • Kup asks questions about Wheelie's rhyming, which Rodimus claims he can't help. This reinforces the fact that Kup has been gone since JUST before Wheelie was recovered by Rodimus
  • In a nice bit of detailing, Monstructor uses his second set of arms to hold Galvatron in place.
  • Shockwave explains that his plan was to have all of his ores return to Cybertron, as they all act as counterbalances to each other, and cause strange effects, which he plans to use to freeze all time into one point, with him ruling over it all.
  • The giant 2 page spread of the aftermath of the battle with the Necrotitan is just beautiful!
  • Metroplex is revealed to still be a bit iffy after the battle, as the regenerative ore he absorbed has become inert.
  • You have to wonder, what if Flatline was just outside the door when he compliments Ratchet as being "better than my best"
  • The Autobots, Decepticons and NAIL's all join together to sing and relax in Swerve's bar on the Lost Light (most likely since Maccadam's is still burned down)
  • Swerve finally gets to meet Blurr properly (and Blurr hates him for it)
  • Blurr and Crosscut seem to be on familiar terms, this would make sense since both are basically celebrities
  • Skywarp is shown to have survived the explosion from before, but he seems unable to stay in a corporeal form for too long, though his teleportational powers seems to be stronger now
  • Arcee's new body would appear to be her upcoming, currently unseen Generations toy
  • Aww how cute, Flatline has his hand across Ratchet's shoulder whilst they look at Arcee (I think I caught the "fangirl" bug from somewhere...)
  • It was hinted at in Shadowplay and with some of the discussions about Prowl throughout More Than Meets The Eye that he and Chromedome had a past relationship, it seems all but confirmed here with his smirk about Rewind's death, essentially at his own hands
  • Metroplex is revealed to have contracted his illness by some Ammonites who attacked him on Shockwave's orders for the ore he had within him (which he jettisoned within his thumb which the Lost Light found), and he escaped them, and slowed the infection by teleporting to Hydrophena (the red ocean planet)
  • It's revealed that Scoop heard the entire Dark Cybertron prophecy from Senator Shockwave before his empurata when he was at the Acadaemy, meaning that it was possibly made up by him for some reason (he wasn't mad back then) or he decided to make the prophecy happen afterwards.
  • What is it with Soundwave always holding Ravage like a pet cat? I thought they thought of each other as equals?!
  • It's revealed that when Metroplex acted as the Autobot HQ in the early war he was asked about the Knights of Cybertron by some Autobots, but he refused to answer any questions about them.
  • When Skywarp teleports in, Waspinator is upsidedown and seems to be panicking...poor fella!
  • The Thirteen Tribes are most likely something to do with "The Thirteen", like tribes who followed their individual ideals etc
  • Nautica expresses an interest in the Knights of Cybertron and legends etc here, considering she is absent from the previews of the upcoming Windblade series it seems likely she'll be joining the Lost Light in "season 2"
