IDW - The X-Files Conspiracy: The Transformers

Plot

The Lone Gunmen are waiting for the arrival of some informants they have about Skylogic's work with the virus they are investigating, when they arrive though, they notice the vehicles they came in have no drivers. Suddenly the duo transform into Optimus Prime and Bumblebee who demand to know where Ratchet is. It's quickly deduces that there's been a mix-up, as the Autobots believe the Gunmen have kidnapped Ratchet as they were searching for any connection to Skylogic, which led to their investigations.

The groups join forces to both rescue Ratchet and look into Skylogic's actions, and together they manage to identify someone in some footage the Gunmen have, and manage to identify and track him down. They manage to get Skylogic's address out of their target and infiltrate it.

Inside they find Ratchet being and free him, but then the Skylogic personnel start to fight back (using weapon I'd assume were made by studying Ratchet's systems). They manage to get out by jumping out the windows of the building, then being caught by Ratchet who transforms around them, keeping them safe. The Autobots then drive off with the humans in tow to safety.

Later the Autobots gift some technology to the Gunmen so they can use it to hopefully work on an anti-virus before it's too late, then they drive off, hoping to make the Skyogic teams follow them instead of the Gunmen for a while at least

Later the Gunmen are getting ready to head off to Atlanta to meet up with Scully at the CDC, but unknown to them several individual in dark outfits (Skylogic?) are waiting outside...

Notes

• This is the 2014 big crossover event for IDW, however this one is different from the previous ones (Infestation, Mars Attacks etc) due to this one being ALL set in one continuity
• It's revealed here that this continuity is the future of the Hearts of Steel continuity! That was a shocker!
• Optimus and Bumblebee's modern incarnation look sort of like the last Earth modes of their IDW G1 counterparts, whilst Ratchet looks exactly like his Prime counterpart
• It appears that the alien virus (or whatever it is the Gunmen are looking for, I honestly haven't been following this series in general - I will read the whole thing when the TPB comes out though.) was cultivated at least in part from Ratchet.
• Bumblebee is shown entering the complex using an SUV alternate mode, yet leaves using his normal sports car mode....yup
• It's implied here that the Decepticons are still out of commission in this continuity
