IDW - Till All Are One #7

Title: Desperate Measures
Written by: Mairghread Scott

Plot
Ironhide's troops are fighting the Titans on Cybertron's surface, as Windblade's team attacks Carcer, planning to try and convince him to help in the battle against the others. Starscream and the remaining council members are watching the action unfold from the Spire, and Starscream admits that he really does hope that Windblade succeeds, but feels like she wont, since heroes tend to die...

Devastator is tearing into Carcer's hull, but is soon confronted by an attack force led by Strika, who seems to be matched up to him in terms of strength.
Obsidian notes how the shuttles seem to be acting strange in the area, and orders for the nearby ones to be struck, in case of any infiltrators. The shuttle carrying Windblade's team is hit, and detonates, but Fireshot is able to get them out safely by having everyone hide within rubble, and crash onto the hull, leading to them making it into an airlock.

Inside the Titan, the team splits into two groups, one to reach the armoury, the other to the brain chamber. Obsidian soon detects the team heading to the armoury, and reports this to Elita, also reporting that Windblade is with them. Elita, assuming that this is Starscream's doing, leads a team to intercept them herself.
She attacks the team, and manages to clip Windblade's wing, and swatting the others away at the same time, she goes to finish off Windblade personally, but "Windblade" is revealed to just be Lightbright having used a holo-projector to disguise herself as her, much to Elita's distaste.

Windblade's real team arrives at the brain chamber, having avoided detection by going through the vents. Windblade prepares to interface with Carcer's brain, but is interrupted by Obsidian, who figured that something was going on, and reasoned that the brain was the better tactical decision for Windblade to go for, rather than the armoury.
Obsidian tries to convince Windblade that reactivating Carcer is a mistake, but she insists that he is needed for the battle. Obsidian unleashes his weapons, and opens fire on the team, who work together to disable the Carcerian delegate, allowing Windblade to link up to Carcer's brain, even as Obsidian continues to call for her to stop.

Windblade taps into the mind of Carcer, and manages to reactivate him, realizing too late why the Carcer crew refused to allow him to fight...he isn't really Carcer...he is the evil Titan Vigilem, who was loyal only to Liege Maximo....

Notes
  • Despite being on the roll call page, and being mentioned as fighting the Titans, Ironhide doesn't actually appear in this issue
  • Also, despite all appearances, Windblade doesn't actually appear on the issue cover. That's Lightbright in disguise.
  • Starscream's getting a bit sloppy in his chats with Bumblebee's ghost. He does so in front of Airazor and Knock Out in this issue, with the former even commenting on it.
  • Strika is strong enough to fight off Devastator....yikes!
  • With the revelation that Carcer is actually Vigilem, the Titan mentioned to be loyal to Liege Maximo in the Revolution tie-in issue, it's quite likely that the former captain, who currently acts as Elita One's throne is ACTUALLY Liege Maximo's body!
  • It is assumed that the secret device Sparkstalker gave Windblade was he holo-projector that Lightbright used this issue.
  • All members of the Council of Worlds appear in this issue, except for Vanquish.

IDW - Transformers: Windblade #5

Title: Race Against the Light
Written by: Mairghread Scott
Art by: Corin Howell
Colours by: Thomas Deer
Letters by: Tom B. Long
Editor: John Barber
Plot
Windblade and the others now know why the Velocitronian cities are always moving, and why they are able to survive energy-wise from just solar power...their sun literally scorches the surface of their planet. Windblade and the team race alongside the city, and manage to work together to reach an access door, and enter the city, where they meet up with Moonracer.
Inside the city, the team are told about how the only way they can get Velocitron to ally with Cybertron is to win the Benefit race that day, and to win impressively, since the current planet leader, Override, is having some problems with a rival, Ransack lately.

Ironhide escorts Blurr to the stadium, along with Moonracer, who needs to be present for the proceedings, whilst Windblade, Chromia, and Moonracer's assistant Clocker head down to Navitas' brain chamber.
In the brain chamber, Windblade is depressed to find it in disrepair, and tries to communicate with Navitas, but finds him brain damaged, since the Velocitronians abandoned him, and just rely on him to maintain the city and their needs.

Blurr enters the race, which he learns is a "no rules" event, and is soon attacked by his fellow racers, who have all been outfitted with weapons and tools to injure the others. During the race, Moonracer identifies Blurr to Override, and suggests that Cybertron may still want their alliance to happen, but Override is so far unimpressed by the Cybertronian racer.
In Navitas' brain chamber, Windblade directly accesses Navitas' brain, and uses it to cause obstacles, and ramps along the race course (since there are no rules) and manages to let Blurr win that way, since the Velocitronians weren't expecting it.
After the race, Blurr calls out Override on whether the alliance should go ahead, which Override puts to the audience. They all agree and Blurr succeeds in creating the alliance.
Windblade tells Wheeljack, back on Cybertron, but he's worried since Starscream is now getting ready to meet MORE colony representatives....

Notes
  • Moonracer was made Cybertronian ambassador because she impressed everyone by keeping up with the moving city for an entire day
  • Override and Ransack, the two "leaders" of Velocitron are based on their Cybertron series counterparts. Clocker is also based on his Cybertron counterpart.
  • Like how Metroplex and Caminus are being used as cities, Navitas is also incorporated into Delta City on Velocitron.
  • The guards to the Benefit race appear to be based, design and colour-wise by Transformers Arms Micron Wildrider
  • Racemaster appears to be based on the G2 character Rapido, but with his name from his United counterpart.
  • Blurr has been turned into a vehicle similar to Cybertron series Crumplezone's in this series, rather than being a more traditional car.
  • The pin in Windblade's "head-dress" is shown to be able to act as a stylus for touch-screen interfaces. Most likely in case the Titans are unable to talk properly etc, like with Navitas here.
  • From the preview and past issues, we can guess that the new guests are from Eukaris (the Beast Wars planet)

IDW - Transformers: Windblade #4

Written by: Mairghread Scott

Plot
On the outskirts of Metroplex the Decepticons and the newly arrived Camiens are having an almost violent argument over the Decepticons daring to use energy from the sacred Titan to power their shanty town. Windblade is forced to leave as she has to meet with some delegates from Velocitron, leaving Chromia to solve the situation alone, without resorting to violence this time.
Windblade arrives at the meeting twenty minutes late, but tries to make it up to Knock Out and Moonracer from the newly found colony. After a quick tour and explanation of how the Council of Worlds will work, Knock Out declines their offer for membership since Velocitron is a closed society, and have enough Energon and energy sources in general to last them, so they leave. Windblade catches up with them, and invites them to a party at Blurr's bar before they go.

The three of them arrive at the bar where they are introduced to fellow racer Blurr, who whips them up some drinks. Windblade explains to Moonracer that the Cybertronians need to have the colony worlds join with them so they can rebuild without the history of factions, and the colonies can expand and return to Cybertron to help themselves too.
Following this, Knock Out sits with Blurr and the two talk about racing, with Knock Out not believing that Blurr could be as fast as he claims to be, and Moonracer goes socializing with the other patrons.
After a while, Windblade sits with Moonracer, where Moonracer explains that life on Velocitron is very stunted, and that only racing is important, and she worries that their entire way of life is getting smaller every year. Moonracer reveals that there's an open race the next day, and if they can win, they could present the proposal for the Council of Worlds to the planet's leaders without fail. Whilst Moonracer cannot officially invite them, she does give Windblade her comm-link frequency, so they can meet up when/if they come to Velocitron to win. Knock Out and Moonracer return to Velocitron following this.

Later, Windblade, Chromia, Wheeljack and Ironhide enter Metroplex's brain chamber, where Wheeljack gets the coordinates for Velocitron from Metroplex's records, and Metroplex gives Windblade some information on Velocitron, and how they were originally scientists who wanted to develop superior energy sources, resulting in them becoming obsessed with using that energy to become faster. Windblade finds Blurr and invites him along for the trip to Velocitron, considering his past as a great racer.
Rattrap lets Windblade and the others, minus Wheeljack, who runs the bridge, through the portal. The group arrive on the planet and find it freezing cold, and deserted, except for a large set of track-marks. Suddenly Chromia looks behind her and realizes why the planet uses moving cities, rather than stationary ones, as a city is driving towards them, followed by a cloud of fire!

Notes
  • Following the end of Combiner Wars, the series has now moved onto a colony-exploring storyline
  • The dialogue shows that Devastator is still in custody in this issue, meaning this is set just before the events of Robots in Disguise #42. This would also imply that the planet Windblade and Chromia were returning from may have been Velocitron following this storyline.
  • Lightbright and Sparkstalker appear to have started dating....awwwww
  • The Camiens have started building new constructs outside of Metroplex...hopefully this means they can start to live outside of the Titan before long!
  • Knock Out, fully seen here, if a direct reference to his Prime series counterpart...so yeah, you can put those Prime Knock Outs on the CHUG shelf now!
  • The "Part 4" part of the "Not the End of the World" party most likely follows the parties after the Decepticon riots in Iacon, the party they had after the Necrotitan died, the presumed party after the death of Shockwave, and now for the resolution of the Combiner Wars (even though the Combiner Wars didn't really affect Cybertron itself too much)
  • Looking at the revelation in MTMTE that Caminus prioritizes the arts, and Velocitron prioritizing racing as the only worthwhile things, it seems like Functionism evolved on those planets too!
  • Knock Out's unnamed Conjunx Endura, mentioned by Moonracer here was confirmed to be based on Prime Breakdown by Mairghread Scott, so yeah, it's canon now!
  • Override, Crumplezone and Ransack, as seen in Moonracer's explanation are based on their Cybertron counterparts. The other robot with them looks like he's based on Animated Bumblebee's Earth character model, which makes sense considering his need for speed too.
  • If we continue the assumption that the Knights of Cybertron are also the Thirteen Primes, then it seems that the Velocitronians, being originally scientists may have been preceded by Alchemist Prime.

Story
Dion has been brought into the medical bay to be fixed up by Ratchet and his team after the attack on the Elite Guard, during which he recalls all that has happened to him over the years, from when he was just a dock worker, got attacked by Megatron, saw his friends die, then got fixed up, recruited into the Elite Guard only for them to be betrayed by the Combaticons.
In a bar Side Burn is pretending to be Dion to get some sympathy from some random femmes, until Prowl comes in and blows his story cover and drags him away from his ladies, and both head to Iacon for a meeting.
Starscream reports back to Deathsaurus about the success of the attack, he has Starscream tell Lyzack to ready the lab for the Combaticon's return so they can be repaired. Starscream is a bit of a pig towards Lyzack and she gets angry and starts eyeing up her brother's old sword.
At the Autobot High Council Citadel Magnum has gathered up the surviving Elite Guard members (Thunderclash, Flak, Kup, Landshark and Dion) and says that they're to make a stand and show that the Guard isn't gone as long as they survive...then they witness the newly arisen Optimus Prime declare war and states that all Autobots are now to take up arms, much to Magnum's dismay.
Optimus and his team prepare to go after Megatron rather than Deathsaurus, as Magnum has insisted that his team deals with him. Optimus notices that Side Burn's gone missing and everyone looks to Prowl to know where he is, who thinks he knows where he is.
Elsewhere Magnum leads his Elite Guard to a secret weapons locker he had built after the Combaticons went missing where they meet up with their reinforcements, Ricochet, Moonracer and Outback (his assistants). The team arm themselves up and head out, unaware that Side Burn is following them.
The Combaticons are being fixed up at Deathsaurus' base, but they're having problems due to Bruticus' eyes being damaged still, so they knock out the gestalt using his weak point and start to work on him. Starscream reports that the remaining Elite Guard members are approaching the base's location, and Deathsaurus has him lead all his available troops into battle against them.
Magnum's team approaches Deathsaurus' lair when they encounter Side Burn who says that he knows where the base is exactly, before he can tell them however the group is attacked by Starscream and his massive army. Ricochet tries to scout the area from the sky, but gets shot down by Starscream and plummets to the ground. The Autobots manage to fight off the Decepticons by using their superior skills, until Deathsaurus arrives and challenges Magnum personally. The Combaticons join the battle, and taunt Magnum and the otehrs by saying that they haven't been altered in any way mentally, and they joined Deathsaurus freely.
The Autobots try to keep the Combaticons separated so they can't combine, and sadly Ricochet dies from his injuries just before Lyzack joins the fight wielding her brother's sword.
The Combaticons manage to fight off the Autobots and start to combine, until they're blasted by a powerful weapon shot by a surprising combatant.
More members of the Elite Guard have survived, and have now joined the battle (Ironfist, Big Bang, Sprocket and Rumbler). The Combaticons try to combine again, but Blast Off has been captured by Side Burn and tied up. The Decepticons start to get worried by the growing Autobot forces, but Starscream refuses to retreat, and leads them in a counter attack.
Magnum starts to get an upper hand against Deathsaurus but Lyzack interferes and attacks the Autobot, which impresses both Starscream and Side Burn, however Thunderclash rescues his commander by punching the femicon away. Side Burn gets over his attraction and attacks Starscream with a flamethrower.
Deathsaurus gets up and goes to kill Thunderclash and Magnum, when Sprocket attacks him, and blasts him into the chest, causing immense pain leading to him calling for a retreat. The Autobots capture the Combaticons and has the Gyronian Sentry team take them into custody whilst they return him.
Back at his base, Deathsaurus is greeted by Megatron, who is now sitting in his throne, waiting for him.
Thunderclash, Big Bang and Dion are waiting at a security office for news on the Combaticons when they learn that Gyronia doesn't have a sentry team anymore since they all went missing, shocking the Autobots.
At Deathsaurus' base Deathsaurus has been strung up between some pillars with the Combaticons in cells behind him. Megatron challenges Deathsaurus to a fight to decide who the overall Decepticon leader should be once and for all, after a very quick fight Megatron manages to mutilate his opponent and then blasts him and point blank range.
Megatron has Soundwave recover any data from Deathsaurus' systems that they can use. Starscream switches sides and joins Megatron, and starts his plotting to become Decepticon leader. Once they leave Lyzack tends to Deathsaurus, who still functions,a nd they decide to leave the planet and banish themselves for their own safety.
A week later Magnum and the others have been fixed up and he apologizes to Optimus for any rudeness he showed him before as he was just worried that he was usurping power from him, Optimus accepts it , but stil feels that all Autobots are needed to fight off the Decepticons now, and Magnum now agrees.
Dion runs in and reports that the Decepticons are attacking the city, along with a new Gestalt, Devastator. The Autobots fight back against the Decepticons.
The Autobots are fighting off the large Decepticon forces and Dion suggests that they aim at Devastator's knees, which works as it causes them to destabilize and fail, making the Gestalt fall over. Megatron is angry and goes to kill Optimus, but he's protected by Magnum and Dion, who take the kill shots for him. Optimus attacks Megatron for killing his friends, and Megatron calls a retreat (the city's in ruins anyway). The Autobots cheer, whilst Optimus looks over his fallen friends.
Later Dion and Magnum have been taken to Alpha Trion who says that he can repair one of them, Optimus asks him to do his best. Several Autobot medics have been called in to help with repairs (with Rumbler dying on the table) and start upgrading the Autobots to be more war ready.
Some point later Optimus is introduced to one of his fallen friends (most likely Magnum) in his new form as Ultra Magnus. Countdown approaches Flak and asks if he's willing to reduce his size to help reduce Energon usage with the Micromaster process, and he agrees.
Several ships start taking off with some Autobots leaving for safer worlds for peace to colonize, one ship heads to Paradron with Landshark and Sprocket on board (whom is still talking to his now dead brother).
After millions of years Optimus leads a team off of Cybertron to look for new sources of fuel, but is forced to leave some of his friends, including Elita One and Side Burn behind.
The Autobots left on Cybertron enter hibernation pods to try and reserve Energon whilst some of them stay outside to guard and maintain them, including Alpha Trion and Kup and ar eplanned to reawaken when sufficient Energon starts returning to Cybertron.

Notes
  • This story leads into the G1 TV series and then Generation Two Redux.
  • If you look carefully on the first page you can see the Aerialbots from the War Dawn episode
  • The usage of Descent into Evil figures continues here
  • It looks like Cop-Tur was the one who fixed up Dion the first time (after Megatron attacked the dock)
  • Prowl and Side Burn aren't brothers, but are good friends due to them being built near to eachother
  • Lyzack keeps her brother's sword in the crockery cupboard
  • Brawn has spiked knuckle dusters
  • Starscream sees Bruticus' weak spots being hit in this story, which explains why he implemented it in the future when he recovers them
  • When Lyzack uses her brother's sword she sort of goes nuts
  • Side Burn is shown to also fancy non-red non-sports car females when he is shown to fancy Lyzack as well, which deviates him from his RiD Counterpart
  • Ironfist, Big Bang, Sprocket and Rumbler are shown to have survived the Combaticons attack and it was explained in Sprocket's profile that it was because they fell into a hole or something to a lower level...yeah I know...go with it
  • Megatron's win against Deathsaurus isn't really fair, he just returned from a major battle without a chance to get properly fixed up.
  • This story is also shown to be after the flashbacks of Secret of Omega Supreme, and gives a name to the generic robots shown being controlled by Megatron's Robo-Smasher too. It also explains that Megatron stole the gestalt technology that Devastator is given from Deathsaurus after beating him.
  • Considering how important Iacon is, you'd think there's be a lot more Autobots protecting it than are shown...
  • Swindle isn't against trying to sell his wares to an enemy
  • Although it's made unclear in this issue who became Ultra Magnus, it can be safely assumed that it was Magnum who was saved (since Hasbro have already said that Dion was never rebuilt into another character
  • Countdown and Flak are shown to be getting ready to undergo the Micromaster process, whilst also joined by the already a Micromaster Cop-Tur.
  • Side Burn was with Elita and the others who were late to getting to the Ark
  • Kup is much older looking in the future because he is forced to ration Energon whilst guarding the sleeping Autobots on Cybertron, along with Alpha Trion.
  • Optimus seems shocked in The Search for Alpha Trion that Elita and the other females are still alive, despite several characters from Season Two being in the group sent to sleep along with them on Cybertron
  • Most of Megatron's troops are just mind controlled Autobots
