Comic Plot

Megatron has arrived at the battlefield and goes after Bludgeon for trying to create his own army. Bludgeon prepares for the battle, but his troops abandon him. Bludgeon goes in for the attack.

The Autobots watch on, unwilling to join in on the fight, and Wheelie leaves the base to watch as well, whilst outside however, Wheelie is attacked by Dead End.

Bludgeon is easily beaten, and then utterly destroyed by Megatron, Megatron then turns to Opitmus and tells him that they will battle again...soon, then takes off and flies to his own base.

The Autobots have managed to capture some of Bludgeon's troops, but most ran off when Megatron arrived, they then start to tear apart Bludgeon's base so it can't be used again. Bumblebee finds Wheelie's broken body, which Optimus tells him to return to base for Ratchet to look at.

As Bumblebee drives off with Wheelie in tow, Dead End looks at the Autobot and begins to follow him for spare parts...

• They returned to Stock Images for the cover again....BOO!!!!
• The ending suggests that Dead End is getting ready to follow Bumblebee to hunt him down...something that happened in Issue 19....
• Megatron arriving personally to kill Bludgeon seems very familiar...*cough*G2*cough*
• Bludgeon clearly doesn't inspire much confidence in his troops since they abandon him at the first obstacle
• Wheelie seems to be killed here after his betrayal...putting this continuity waaaay out of line with DOTM where he's shown as an Autobot and still alive, though like I said before, this may have been fixed if the comic had remained a monthly rather than getting contracted like this.
• Zombie Dead End lacks his black speech bubble and white text that he uses in his previous appearances.
• Tankor was shot the same as Dead End in the previous issue, yet seems fine now...unlike Dead End
• Whatever happened to Springer and Hubcap? Slapdash looked dead enough to satisfy me
• Megatron can switch between his ROTF and Movie 1 alt modes.
• Bludgeon is referred to as a "pretender" here, a reference to his G1 counterpart

Comic Plot

The Autobots arrive in Russia, where they've determined Bludgeon to be hiding and they set up a field base, unaware that Wheelie, who has decided to rejoin the Decepticons after an argument with Ironhide and other reasons, has just sneaked into the Decepticon's base and warns Bludgeon of the Autobot's arrival

Bludgeon says that Wheelie has done well, and then sends Dead End and Lockdown to sort out a "welcome" for their guests. Once alone, Wheelie sneaks off further into the base.

Outside, the Autobots head off to the Decepticon's base, Springer goes up high for surveillance, but gets blasted out of the sky. The Autobots carry on, but are ambushed by the Decepticons from the sky and air, as they knew they were coming. Bludgeon sneaks up on Slapdash and kills him personally.

In the base, Wheelie sends the base's coordinates to Megatron and disables it's weapons and cloaking devices so he can just attack them immediately. Megatron welcomes Wheelie back into the fold. Outside again the Autobots are fighting back, but the Decepticons are overpowering them. Just as Bludgeon kills/injures Hubcap a bolt of lightning strikes the battlefield, and Megatron appears in the sky.

• Unlike usual, the Comic title isn't shown anywhere on the actual comic, it's only stated on the contents page.
• This issue shows that Wheelie has decided to return to the Decepticons..unlike any other fiction, this is because he feels that the Autobots don't trust him
• Wheelie can fire heat waves from his headlights
• Dead End is back to normal and in the Decepticon base this issue, the reason for this is that the previous issue was most likely meant to be AFTER this comic originally
• Springer gets shot out of the sky here, but it's not clear if he died or not
• Skywarp appears to be in the wrong jet mode again....
• Though Slapdash looks pretty dead in this issue, it's not made clear if Bludgeon's attack killed Hubcap as well...
• Megatron makes his first real appearance in Volume 2 (right at the end)
• Ironhide doesn't mind being used as a shield.
• Wheelie's eyes change to a red colour after he returns to the Decepticons, and also has his insignia back
• Judging by the dialogue and editor's notes, Crankstart and his team worked for Bludgeon, and from them the Autobots learned where Bludgeon is based...in Arkhangelskaya Oblast in Russia (WHY DOES FURMAN INSIST ON PLACES WITH IMPOSSIBLE NAMES?!?!)

Comic Plot

Sam is home for the Christmas holidays with Bumblebee, though Bumblebee isn't supposed to have come with him, so he's hiding from his parents as he wanted to see what Christmas was all about.

Later, Dead End appears in the are looking for Bumblebee, Sam sees him in the back garden and assumes that it's Bumblebee (as they have slightly similar silhouettes) so he runs out to tell him to get back in the garage...then Sam realizes that it's the zombie Decepticon.

Bumblebee appears and stops Dead End, and the two have a fight (with Bumblebee trying to be as quiet as possible). Dead End has Bumblebee pinned down, but Bumblebee shoots off his laser cannon, knocking him out, but waking up Sam's mother as well.

The next morning everyone wakes up and opens their presents, with Judy receiving a bottle of car wax from Bumblebee. Sam gives Bumblebee his present, a replacement part.

• This is the first Transformers Christmas story in a long, LONG time...We need more....
• Following issue 21 of Volume 2, which shows Dead End becoming a zombie again, it seems most likely that this was meant to be set after that issue originally (which would have fit in nicely enough without the bi-monthly switch up)
• The title is a reference to "The Night before Christmas" and "The Nightmare before Christmas"
• The Witwicky's have at least three Christmas trees in their dining room
• Bumblebee give Judy a bottle of Car Wax for Christmas to try and win her over
• It can be assumed that Dead End was picked up by NEST that night since there's no word of a Decepticon on the lawn by Ron.

Comic Plot

Crankstart, Brimstone and Trenchmouth are causing mayhem in Salt Lake City, Utah with Bumblebee and his new covert team of Hubcap and Slapdash watching on silently, waiting for them to leave the populated area, and are forced to watch them hurting humans and causing damage to the City before they finally leave the city and go into the wilderness (to head to Las Vegas it seems).

Once away from the humans, the team attack them and swiftly disable or kill the entire team, then call it it.

Later Springer arrives back at Autobase with the defeated Decepticons in his cargo, with Optimus wondering if what they're doing is right, and if they're any better than the Decepticons by doing this.

Elsewhere Bludgeon declares that it's time to go to war.

• Only Optimus and Ironhide know about Bumblebee's team
• It's very likely that Crankstart's little group actually killed some humans in this story!
• The fates of the Decepticons are a bit ambiguous...it's safe to assume that Crankstart is dead, but the other two could have survived being shot at and being near an explosion
• Bludgeon's epilogue seems to lead directly into the events of issues 20 and 21
• Bludgeon's blade seems to be able to flip out now.
• Despite being established as rivals elsewhere, Hubcap and Brimstone never really interact here or mention it.

Comic Plot

Starscream is having a fit in the Amazon Forest and is tearing it apart, looking for ...something, anything, angry that he's going nowhere in his life. Starscream sees some humans nearby to kill and/or maim, when he notices that they're carrying a statue in his image, and gets an idea.

3 months later NEST is called into the area after several frantic calls from that region to look around there, when they notice a large stone effigy of Starscream and realise that he's at least been in the area lately.

The team walk through the forest and make it to an Incan temple with a large hole blasted out of it. Lennox calls for Doctor Redway and her team to leave the area, when a pair of missiles come out of the trees. The missiles hit Ratchet and almost hits the humans. The Autobots and Lennox engage Starscream in battle. Knowing that he's unlikely to win the fight, Starscream causes a fire in the surrounding trees and flies off. Ratchet uses his buzzsaw weapon to cut down some of the trees and stop the fire from spreading any further.

The tribes who worship Starscream as a god now watch as he flies off.

• Starscream implies here that he's setting up his own army now (just like Bludgeon is too) this storyline however isn't picked up later due to the relaunching to DOTM a few issues later
• Starscream's been looking for any source of Energon on Earth now after the loss of the Allspark and Harvester.
• Starscream was obviously looking in the Incan Temple looking for a new energy source, perhaps thinking that another harvester is hidden inside another pyramid or something.

Reverb is running wild in Cairo but is then attacked by the Autobot Blazemaster, using his pyrotechnic abilities. The two fight it out with Blazemaster ending up the winner, but causing so much damage in the process. Blazemaster gets chewed out by Klammer about how he's just making things worse for everyone

Later, Blazemaster is flying over Cordoba in Spain, listening to some human news casts when Skywarp prepares to intercept him on Bludgeon's orders, when the Autobot disappears, but then reappears behind him and attacks him himself. The two have a short air-battle with Blazemaster seeming to win.

The two land on the ground, and Skywarp says that Bludgeon wants Blazemaster to join his team. Skywarp flies off, leaving Blazemaster to decide if he wants to defect or not.

Epps and Lennox are hunting down Soundwave who has been sighted around the Bahamas, and set a trap for him. Soundwave flies off into the Bermuda Triangle to hide from NEST, but winds up finding a bunch of missing aircraft and ships from times gone by, who immediately start attacking him as well.

Unable to shake the time displaced enemies Soundwave flies straight up and heads to the moon, which despite the solar radiation, meteor showers and space debris, seems much safer than Earth right now.

Comic Plot

Stratosphere is flying around British Columbia in Canada on a surveillance sweep when he suddenly finds himself in a cloud and then attacked by Devastator, who damages his wing, forcing him to crash.

At CFB Comox, Captain Fraser informs the Cadets where Stratosphere was last heard from and sends them out to find him, they roll out.

Back in the mountain range where he crashed, Stratosphere slowly wakes up and goes back to robot mode, he sees Devastator being rebuilt nearby, and learns that his communications are down. He waks over to the behemoth.

Stratosphere gets to the building site to find Skywarp and some drones rebuilding Devastator under cover from a smoke-cloud generator and decides to stop them, since Devastator is too powerful and dangerous to have running around.

Stratosphere attacks the group ad kills some of the drones. Stratosphere manages to knock over Skywarp and destroys the jamming device, which allows him to tell NEST about Devastator and gets the to come in with an air-strike.

Skywarp recovers and tries to fly off to safety, but Stratosphere redirects the cloud generator to Skywarp's path and causes him to crash into a cliff-face.

The Cadets arrive and the air-strike hits Devastator, destroying the beast. Stratosphere says they should all return to base now

• This comic features some random Payload/Swindle looking drones on the cover and poster, but in the comic itself they are replaced with some made up in design construction vehicle drones (Excavators if the vehicles shown are anything to go by)
• This is the first, and currently only piece of fiction with Stratosphere in it.
• Devastator is shown to have survived the events of ROTF
• Devastator being rebuild in a remote location is reminiscent of the Marvel UK story "Desert Island Risks"
• It's a Cadets story again!
• In this story Skywarp is shown being defeated. Though it's not shown here, it's likely that he would be captured at the end, and then being released by Bludgeon in the previous issue (this is notable because Skywarp is shown in later issues as being free still)
• This was the last Cadet story :(

Comic Plot

In Bloemfontein in South Africa, Bludgeon stages a breakout from the NEST Maximum-Security Containment Facility with a little help from Scalpel, who he had smuggled in with him when he got captured whilst the Football World Cup takes place nearby.

Breakdown mocks Bludgeon for getting captured by Jolt, a Cadet before they manage to escape. NEST detects the cells being destroyed and sends the local Autobot team of Smokescreen, Brawn and Wideload to see what's happening. In the Facility, Bludgeon kills Breakdown for insulting him and has Scalpel set off a bomb that causes the Facility to blow up, allowing the Decepticons to escape.

The Autobot guards are being beaten down by the Decepticons, who are forced to let them escape due to the media presence and them trying to limit the bad press for the Autobots right now (thanks to all the damage being caused etc)

• This story was moved to coincide with the 2010 Football World Cub, and was meant to be later in the series.
• Despite showing Optimus playing football with a small Cybertron, none of this is shown in the issue. In fact football itself is only shown as a backdrop...
• The Decepticons shown breaking out aren't named here, and they are all pretty much in the wrong colours, but they can be identified by later issues and common sense, such as Reverb being in Knock Out's colours, Dead End being in Sideways' colours, and Tankor and Bludgeon being switched around in one scene, also Lockdown has a random colour scheme as well
• Scalpel was smuggled in by Bludgeon it's revealed here
• Breakdown doesn't seem to be liked by any of the continuities...he's killed off pretty much immediately in every appearance of his.
• Whilst it's understandable that we've never seen Wideload, Smokescreen or Brawn before, since they're positioned in South Africa, but why is Gears randomly with Bumblebee and Springer when they go to stop the local team from destroying the place.

Springer is training the Cadets in Monument Valley, Utah and trying to teach them how to handle difficult situations.

Three days later Tankor has taken prisoners at the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas so NEST and the Autobots are called in. Springer tries to take on Tankor from the sky, so Tankor fights him in tank mode whilst the Cadets are breaking into the Alamo to rescue the hostages. Suddenly they realise that Tankor has reinforcements and that Springer may be in trouble.

As predicted Dirge appears on the scene and attacks Springer, causing him to begin to crash. Just before Tankor is able to get a shot off at Springer Jolt uses his whips to redirect Tankor's barrel and causes him to shoot Dirge, making the other Decepticon retreat for repairs.

Afterwards Springer moans at Jolt for leaving his post but Jolt says that he did what he had to, which Springer couldn't really argue with as Tankor is taken away.

• Bumblebee's in a war scene on the front...yet he appears no where in the story...(AGAIN!)
• Interestingly, two of the character introduced in this comic, Springer and Tankor are both legends class figures in the toyline with no larger toys.
• They have of course scaled the characters up to normal size, rather than having them as tiny as their toys...
• Tankor's first appearance in this comic shows him in a green colour, but then he changes to his normal blue later. This is most likely an accidental mis-colour and was confused with Springer, but it's notable because this toy was an homage to Tankor from Beast Machines, who in turn was based on The Hulk, who was green.
• Of some note: This issue came out at about the same time as Last Stand of the Wreckers was underway, which also featured Springer as the leader of a group, including some newbies...
• Tankor being forced to redirect his attack by an Autobot and shooting a fellow Decepticon is very similar to what Kup did to Blitzwing in the G1 movie, which was in turn homaged by Jazz against Brawl in the 2007 movie.

Comic Plot

The Cadets are in Death Valley on a training session when Dead End suddenly appears and begins to stalk the trio. The three lament how all the action is already over and all that's left to do is train and do clean up jobs (like catching the rogue Decepticons).

The three of them arrive in a ghost town to find an emergency recharge pack left by Bumblebee for them so they split up. The three of them split up and Jolt is attacked by Dead End, who tears off his left arm. Dead End then attacks the other two Autobots and injured his right arm, but just slots Jolt's arm in and has it act as a replacement.

Whilst the fight takes place Jolt finds the recharge pack and powers himself up, he then uses one of his whips to grab hold of Dead End and electrocutes him, knocking him out.

Two days later at Diego Garcia Dead End has been repaired and Ratchet explains that he had a regeneration circuit inside him that kept him alive, despite him being supposed to be dead, and then commends the trio as true Autobots for rescuing the Decepticon.

Comic Plot

Optimus is called in to check in on a suspected Decepticon attack, but finds it as a false alarm, but then gets caught in an explosion and taken prisoner by Tyler White and his "Free Man".

At the Malmstrom Air Force Base, Bumblebee and Epps are looking for Optimus and decide to go off site to look for him. Tyler White explains to Optimus that he wants to have his head as a trophy on his wall, as he's the greatest prize of all, being a robotic alien and all.

Bumblebee and Epps find the Free Men's base and attack it, in the confusion Optimus frees himself and destroys all of White's trophies. Later, the surviving Free Men surrender without a fight and Optimus explains that he knew Tyler's plan all along, which is why he sprung the explosion, before it could be reset in a populated area next time, and then Tyler is taken away as well.

Comic Plot

Jolt is on an operation to hunt down the rogue Decepticon, Reverb and causes havoc in Beverly Hills, but eventually manages to capture Reverb, Optimus later tells him to curb his enthusiasm whilst on mission, which he promises to do.

Two days later in Las Vegas, Jolt has caused a mess again in a battle with the Decepticon Bludgeon who is able to overpower Jolt quite a lot, and uses the Autobot's desire to protect life against him.

Bludgeon prepares to finish Jolt off with his sword, but misses and allows Jolt to electrocute him using his sword as a conductor, especially thanks to the massive amounts of electricity in the city around him, but sadly he also causes a massive power cut in the city.

Three hours later Jolt is back at base and Optimus is forced to confine him to base for now. Jolt agrees, but then he hears a distress signal from some NEST members about a Decepticon attack...

Comic Plot

Soundwave attempts to interrogate Ransack as to the location of the Matrix, but he refuses to tell him. The Twins watch the event and attack the base to get answers. The Twins manage to disable Grindor and Ravage, but then Soundwave and Starscream attack the Twins and badly injure the duo.

Starscream prepares to kill Mudflap when Ransack saves him, flies off and tells them that he's going to tell The Fallen about this. Soundwave chases after him.

The Twins watch Soundwave escape then suddenly see an army of Protoforms arriving on Phobos, who immediately attack the Twins, but luckily the duo are saved when the Autobots arrives and takes on the drones.

After the fight the Autobots have the drones rounded up, but the Twins can't find Starscream and Ravage, Ironhide tells them not to worry about him, and tells them that the Autobots believe that they aren't traitors now, after reassessing all the evidence. The Twins decide to forget all about The Fallen after all the trouble it's caused them.

• Ransack threatens to tell The Fallen about Soundwave's actions, seeing as how Soundwave is alive and well in later issues and the movies, it's clear that Ransack must have been "silenced" or he just couldn't get in touch.
• Arcee appears in her movie 1 toyline character model, rather that the ROTF version seen in an earlier issue
• The Lugnut drones from Issue 1 are seen again, but in grey Protoform mode
• Ratchet makes one of his rare appearances in Volume 2 now
• The Twins decide not to mention The Fallen to Optimus, in hopes that nothing ever comes from it (FOOLS!)
• It's unknown if Grindor was arrested as well as the drones, though it's likely that he escaped
• The Autobots must have followed the Twins to Mars and now know they aren't traitors after reassessing all the evidence they had against them.
• Sideswipe says "You Drive --I'll Carve!" to Ironhide, a reference to Mikaela's line to Bumblebee in the first movie.
• It's possible that the Lugnut Drones were amongst those who were in the Detention Center later in this volume, which gets liberated by Bludgeon.

Comic Plot

On the Martian moon, Phobos, the Twins are being welcomed into the Decepticon ranks, though the other Decepticons don't appear to happy with the new arrivals. Soundwave sends them out on their first mission, to locate Ransack and bring him back to them. Soundwave then sends Grindor and Sideways to follow them.

The Twins arrive on Earth and go to the place where they encountered Ransack last time, and sure enough the ancient Transformer appears again and attacks them. Elsewhere, NEST have picked up on the fight and informs the Autobots that the Twins are involved, so they start to head out to intercept.

The Twins trick Ransack into stop attacking them by telling him that The Fallen sent them, so he calms down and follows them willingly. Grindor and Sideways see this and decide to attack the Twins and Ransack to get the glory themselves.

The Twins fight the Decepticons, with Mudflap managing to cause Sideways to ram into a tree, knocking him out, but Grindor manages to escape with Ransack in tow.

The NEST team arrive in the area and sees the Twins fighting the Decepticons and continue to monitor. The Twins gets absolutely annoyed now and decide to find out what's going on once and for all!

• Despite being the characters on the cover...neither Optimus NOR Starscream are in the actual comic!
• The Twins are being used by Soundwave to locate Ransack, so he can use him to locate the Matrix and the Star Harvester for himself
• Soundwave's plan is to have Ransack kill the Twins, and then Grindor and Sideways are to take Ransack.
• The Twins' entry pod modes are the same as the ones seen in issue 1 and 2 of this volume just in their proper colours rather than grey, but they don't have to rescan the smart car modes when they arrive on Earth again.
• Skids reveals that he was just pretending to defect to try and learn more about what's happening...Mudflap apparently didn't realize it was an act...yikes!
• Ransack is shown in his toy colours when in vehicle mode, but when in robot mode he takes on a mostly green robot mode...maybe he uses electronic paint?
• According to Ransack, he hasn't heard from The Fallen in a long time...assuming this isn't just him exaggerating, that means that The Fallen informed someone else on Earth to hunt down the Twins....
• It's unclear is NEST picked up Sideways after he was abandoned on Earth, though judging by the events in ROTF, it can be safely assumed that he was just left there and drove off to Shanghai to hide out with Demolishor.

Comic Plot

The Twins have been detained and are currently on route to a secured location when they are rescued by Wheelie (on Soundwave's orders).

Optimus at Diego Garcia is informed of the Twin's escape and deems that their recapture is a priority now. The Twins are then immediately attacked, forcing them to go on the run again.

2 Days later, the Twins are in Tranquility and pick up Sam to speak with him and try to explain what's happened to him so he can relay it to the Autobots (though it looks like he's abducting them really)

Bumblebee sees this and goes after the Twins. The Twins quickly give up Sam and try to surrender to Bumblebee, when suddenly Soundwave arrives and shoots the Autobot, and offers the Twins sanctuary, which they accept.

• Starscream actually appears in this issue, albeit as a very brief cameo as the one who drops off Wheelie to free the Twins. This also confirms that his mission on Cybertron must be over
• Starscream and Wheelie almost definitely kill some humans in this issue when rescuing the Twins.
• Mikaela being mentioned here is about the only time we hear from Mikaela in this series!
• This marked the first time Soundwave was seen to set foot on Earth.
• Sam doesn't want to get involved with the war any more (as also shown in ROTF)
• It's not said here, but Soundwave is likely the one who sent the message to NEST telling them that Sam has been abducted by the Twins
• The Twins finally tell someone about the army forming on Cybertron by Starscream, but not Optimus, they tell Sam, and judging by the later issues, Sam told him later himself.
• A human getting abducted by an Autobot is very similar to what happened in Man of Iron, and coincidentally the human in that story was called Sammy Harker!!

Comic Plot

Optimus and Arcee hunt down Sideways in Australia. The Twins learn that Optimus is going to be heading to Diego Garcia soon (where they are as well) and get excited. Optimus and Arcee manage to beat down Sideways and captures him.

Later Optimus as his cargo are taken to Diego Garcia, and the Twins head over to him to talk, though they start arguing on who is to actually tell him about The Fallen and annoys him.

Suddenly Scorponok attacks the base from underground and Sideways reveals that he was just playing possum and both start an attack.

Optimus begins to declare a counter attack when he trips over Skids and Mudflap tries to use some debris as a shield, only for Sideways to steal it from him and the Decepticons leave in the confusion.

Sideswipe, having seen everything tells Optimus that Skids and Mudflap helped the Decepticons escape (all a misunderstanding of course) and also tells him about the Grindor incident and how the "attacked him" last issue. Optimus has the two detained for questioning.

Soundwave listens from high up and comments on how this is just the beginning...
