TFCC #69 - Of Masters and Monsters Part 3

Plot
At the Parque Zoologico de Merida, a group of school kids are being shown the native animals of this new Earth, and they are shown Opti-I mean...Garry the Gorilla, who was taken in and appears to be depressed.
Elsewhere, the mysterious man with a silver streak in his hair leads the disguised Autobots to a woodland area where he reveals himself to be a Decepticon using a similar Pretender suit design to them. A small battle breaks out but soon ends when the Decepticon reveals his ship to them, and gives them a brief history on HIS version of the Great War, and explains how it ended when the Decepticons created Thunder Mayhem, and he destroyed Cybertron and everyone on the planet.
The Decepticon reveals that he was able to escape and crashed on this planet, which he was fine with as it only had simple life-forms that Thunder Mayhem wouldn't be interested in, however when the humans arrived, he realized that he had to leave before Mayhem came and attacked again, but then detected the Autobots, meaning that Mayhem will be able to detect them and follow them here too before long.
Metalhawk asks the Decepticon who he is, and with a grin he reveals himself to be the local Megatron himself!

Elsewhere still, Ramjet has tracked down the Mayhem Attack Squad, and manages to convince them to team up with him for their joint goal in life, to destroy everything in this Universe....

Notes
  • I should note here, that my copy of the magazine was water-damaged whilst in delivery, so if I missed anything here then I'm blaming that :)
  • The Unit-3 article shows us that the other considered figures, instead of Unit-3 (but with the same toy mold head and presumably body) were: Armordillo, Stinkbomb, Optimus Minor, Polar Claw, Stampy, Grimlock, Lio Junior, Ramulus, B'Boom and Wolfang.
  • In case you're a bit out of the loop, "Garry the Gorilla" is clearly going to be a Pretender version of Optimus Prime, named after Garry Chalk, the voice of Optimus in the Beast Era and Unicron Trilogy. The Pretender Optimus was showcased for the next Sub Service package.
  • Oh...the mystery guy who's been following the Autobots the past 2 issues was Megatron in a pretender suit....that was...underwhelming...
  • To further pound in the Masterforce references in this issue, the characters use the phrases "Suit on" and "Pretender" to go into their suited bodies, and then to their real robot modes.
  • According to Megatron, the cities that arrived on the new Earth just appeared one day between him landing there, and the Humans being transported there by Gaea. So where did the buildings originate from?
  • Hey look! We get to see a silhouette of Thunder Mayhem for the first time in this continuity.
  • Thunder Mayhem turning on the Cybertronians has been shown in the prose stories released in the 2 months between part 2 and 3.
  • Ruckus is referred to as "Ruckus" here, instead of "Grabuge" like his toy.
  • Where are Spinister's and Needlenose's Targetmasters? Did they kill them too D:
  • Bludgeon's Matrix clone is named as the Matrix of Malice here.
  • Ramjet is named as a Decepticon here, and features a Decepticon insignia in story....fine!

TFCC #68 - Of Masters and Monsters Part 2

Title: Insight
Writers: Jesse Wittenrich & Pete Sinclair
Pencils: Dan Khanna
Inks: Jake Isenberg
Colours: Evan Gauntt
Letters: Jesse Wittenrich
Managing Editor: Pete Sinclair
Plot
Metalhawk takes the bullet from the mugger, but accidentally reveals himself as a robot when his would starts sparking with energy. Before the disguised Autobots can decide what to do with the mugger, to stop him from revealing their secrets, they are all taken into Police custody.
At the police station, the mugger claims to not have seen anything, and the Autobots deny that anything happen, other than him firing a gun, and it missed them. The Autobots are soon dismissed, but not before they over-hear the police officers complaining about Cybertronians, and them being nothing but trouble.

Elsewhere, on the planet Paradron, Impactor heads to a medical centre to visit his injured friend, however, when he gets there the medic, Lifeline, reveals that his injuries were so bad that one of his two robot modes had to be removed. Impactor is angry, even though this was the only way to save him, and storms out of the medical centre.

Elsewhere still, Ramjet is searching for the other life-form he detected earlier, and plans to use them to make this universe into...nothing....
On Earth, the mysterious silver-streaked hair man approaches the disguised Autobots, reveals that he knows what they are, and also reveals that he's an actual native to this new Earth, and warns them that "he'll be here soon".

Notes
  • It's confirmed here that the Pretenders are using holo-matter to look like accurate humans, and have used Mass-displacement to look human sized.
  • The black haired police officer mentions that Robin from the "Spacehikers" (look at the Marvel comics) grew up to be a police captain, and was supposedly traumatized by the events of the journey, along with her brother and friends.
  • ...I wonder if her teddy remembers the journey too....is he her lieutenant? That would be awesome and crazy.
  • Paradron and it's inhabitants exist in this new reality. Since Paradron is a colony world of Cybertron's, populated by Cybertronians who wanted to escape the war, that would imply that Cybertron and the other Transformers exist in this new reality.
  • Lifeline's surgical tools are actually her toy's swords.....HOW ARE THOSE PRECISION TOOLS?!?!?
  • Judging from the dialogue, it's likely that Impactor's "friend" is Punch, and due to the upcoming TFSS 5.0 Counterpunch toy, we can assume that the part removed was the "Punch" side of his body.
  • It's very likely that the Silver-haired guy is the guy who Ramjet is looking for. On top of this, I'll also bet that he has something to do with TFSS 4.0, either as a holo-avatar for Thunder Mayhem, one of the Mayhem Attack Squad or the mystery seventh figure.
  • SD SG Skywarp shares the same character model as Starscream (based on the Cybertron Starscream toy) but has a mostly blue colourscheme, so could be based on Thudnercracker or Brainstorm's usual colours.
  • SD SG Thundercracker has the G2-looking colours from his Botcon toy, and of course is bright enough to emit bright lights from himself.

TFCC #67 - Of Masters and Monsters Part 1

Plot
It's been five years since the Humans from the Classicsverse were transported to a new Earth by Gaea, but everyone is still unsure about what happened. When they arrived on the new planet they found the place deserted, but with buildings and facilities all completed.
Spike witnesses a car crash, but manages to save a man and his daughter with the help of the disguised Crossblades and Vroom. The trio run away before the police can arrive, as Transformers are unwelcome here now. Unknown to them, a man with silver streaks in his hair is watching the group intently.

Spike and the others return to their apartment where they find Metalhawk and Elizabeth. Elizabeth is talking to Spike's brother Buster over a social media device called @mosferik where they discuss how Spike and the others need to find jobs to help them with their covers as normal humans. Buster's son Galen interrupts the call, and Spike takes the opportunity to avoid the awkward conversation again, and ends the call.

Later, the group head to a restaurant for dinner where they wonder if they can actually manage to discover anything about this new planet, despite them not having any luck in the past few years. They finish their dinner and head outside, where they are attacked by a mugger, who wants their money. The Autobots have already spent all their money on their food however, and suddenly a gunshot goes off, and blood is spilt, much to Spike's shock.

Elsewhere, Ramjet is fused with a rock in space, and he's lost contact with his master Unicron (thanks to the Multiversal walls being closed) so he decides to act on his own. He uses up the energy he's been storing for a few years and rebuilds himself into a new body (his new toy) and decides to go after a signal he's just picked up of something that has been touched by evil nearby....

Notes
  • This year's comic storyline (judging from the internal front cover) is to advertise the Figure Sub Service set for this year
  • As such, I would assume that the currently mystery silver-streaked hair guy is something to do with the mystery sixth figure.
  • In this issue we learn that the Classicsverse Earth's animals were sent to this new Earth as well.
  • Despite them seemingly getting along from the previous comics, it looks like the Classicsverse Humans hated the Transformers....huh....
  • The Pretenders using Human-sized bodies that look realistic is likely a reference to Transformers: Masterforce, where the Autobots were able to do so (and they were led by Metalhawk there too)
  • Elizabeth is most likely the same character as Lisa from the Marvel era comic "Rhythms of Darkness". This is based on appearance, her apparent connection to Spike, and that Lisa is a potential shortening of Elizabeth.
  • Buster is now in a high-up position, whilst Spike is lower, much like their counterparts from the prematurely ended G1 comic from Dreamwave.
  • Buster and Jesse's son Galen is named after the Galen from Nebulos whom Spike replaced as Cerebros' head.
  • Spike says that he forms a "dead alien robot's" face implying that Cerebros and/or Fort Max have died at some point before they left the Classicsverse
  • Ramjet was last seen being sent into another dimension by Vector Prime during the Balancing Act storyline. He's revealed here to have survived the trip, but it doesn't look like his Mini-Cons were as lucky...
  • The "something else" that Ramjet has detected could be almost anything right now. I would hazard a guess that it's either Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus following his exile, Cryotek, who was mentioned as probably winding up in this same dimension, or the Dark Matrix beast from Regeneration One/Marvel comics, especially since the Thunder Mayhem combiner comes with a Matrix as part of the set.
  • In SD SG, Nautica's colour scheme is based on Cybertron series Thunderblast. Hot Shot seems to be based on Smokescreen for some reason (not sure though) and we don't see enough of Metroplex to figure out his colourscheme.
  • From the dialogue here it states that the events of Invasion happened "9 years ago" and this story is set 5 years after the Classicsverse Humans were transported to this new Earth. This all adds up from a real-world perspective, but the events in the comics themselves make this a bit odd. If the Classicsverse Earth was in the Shattered Glass universe for 4 years by the time of "Another Light" then why were they acting like it had all only just happened?

IDW - The Transformers #45

Title: The Nothing Man
Written by: John Barber
Art by: Andrew Griffith
Colours by: Josh Perez
Letters by: Tom B. Long
Editor: Carlos Guzman
Plot
At the EDC HQ at Bikini Atoll, Thundercracker is moaning at Marissa to let him see Spike, as he thinks he can get him to talk, since they did "save the world" together during the Decepticon occupation of the planet. Marissa however, doesn't want to hear anything from Spike, it's Blackrock who wants to talk to him alone. During their conversation, Blackrock reveals to Spike that his Onyx interface uses a Cybertronian code that he found, and has essentially "infected" the planet's devices with it.

On the Ark-7, Jetfire is still analysing the Onyx source code, and discovers that whenever he tries to mirror the signal, it changes, as if it's alive in some way. He wants to track the source of the signal on Earth, which Arcee allows, along with a team.
On the Nemesis, Soundwave and Galvatron are preparing for the imminent arrivals of the Decepticons from Cybertron when they detect the Autobots heading to Earth, Soundwave asks if they should inform their allies on Earth, but Galvatron just says not to bother.

Near the South Pole on Earth, Jetfire, Jazz, Kup, Sky Lynx and D.O.C. arrive at a small station that is sending out a signal for the Onyx interface, however before they can do anything there, they are attacked by a group of gestalt monsters made from the Thrust and Ramjet drones, who instantly smash Jetfire into the ground, and quickly disable Kup and Jazz too.
Sky Lynx races off into orbit to try and get reinforcements from the Ark-7, but is chased by the gestalts, who are revealed to have the ability to transform into giant gets too.
Blackrock is watching this fight from Spike's cell, where he reveals that his studies of the Enigma of Combination revealed the power of creating gestalts a long time ago, but he hid it when they were attacked by Prowl, just so they could have an upper-hand later on.

Arcee and Sideswipe deploy the Ark-7's massive weapons supply, and prepare to fire on the gestalts chasing Sky Lynx, however when they open fire the shields are raised as well, and cause the weapons to back-fire and badly damage the shuttle. Sky Lynx also ends up smashing into the ship's shield, and knocks himself out of commission too.
On the ship, Arcee and Sideswipe try to repair the damage and get control of the ship back, but Alpha Trion reveals to them that the Onyx source code they brought onto the ship is in fact the source code for the Enigma of Combination itself, and with it Blackrock has taken control of their systems.

Back on Earth, Blackrock reveals to Spike that he is able to tap into the systems that have installed his Onyx Interface, and with it he can learn everything about anyone, he can even see their souls in the process, however he cannot see his own soul.
He reveals that his reason for imprisoning Spike is so that Spike can find out why he has no soul. Spike isn't sure how he expects him to do this, but Blackrock locks the door behind him anyway...

In the aftermath of this attack, the Autobots are crippled, and Galvatron immediately starts to plan to attack the Ark-7, so they can take control of the space bridge.
Cosmos is in orbit still, trying to reach the teams, and D.O.C. is left abandoned in the South Pole.On the Ark- Arcee and the others appear trapped inside the burning vessel, but Arcee plans to use the space bridge to escape....

Notes
  • Despite his new-found distrust of them, Thundercracker seems happy to still hang around with the EDC base....you know despite the zombie army in the basement!
  • Spike's prisoner uniform features a QR code on the back, though it is mostly obscured so it's unclear what it contains (most likely it'd be his criminal record in continuity)
  • The ancient code used for the Onyx interface includes some Decepticon insignias, this is the first indication that the Decepticon insignia may have preceded it's use in the Decepticon's revolution. The Autobot insignia was previously revealed to have been used by a lost tribe in the past too.
  • From the dialogue it seems that the previous issue has indeed already happened, judging from the lack of Astrotrain, it's likely he took the other Decepticons back to Cybertron, rather than using the Space Bridge like I'd previously assumed.
  • Jetfire's colour scheme in his stealth paint job is based on his "Dark Skyfire" toy counterpart made from his Classics incarnation's toy.
  • Jazz is torn apart by one of the Thrust/Ramjet combiners, much like how his movie counterpart was torn apart and killed by Movie Megatron.
  • It's revealed that the modern Ark shuttles were designed by Nova Prime's team, previously it was believed the Arks were simply named after the original lost star ship, but this implies that they may have been planned to be a fleet of ships for Nova's expansion originally.
  • Blackrock was mentioned as having no records of himself from more than 3 years ago in an earlier issue, this issue adds to the idea that he may not be human or natural with him not having a "soul"

IDW/TFCC - Balancing Act

Balancing Act Plot
Vector Prime is doing his rounds around the Multiverse and detects that Unicron has been killed (in Energon) and that the balance between good and evil has been disturbed and a giant black hole has been formed that threatens to destroy all of reality. Vector Prime returns to that universe to help them resolve the situation by finding the Omega Lock and Cyber Keys to return the balance.

Some time later Ramjet, his Mini-Cons and Nemesis Prime escape from an interdimensional prison and head to Cybertron to destroy it for their master, Unicron.. Upon arriving on the deserted planet they find some leftover Decepticons and kill them for being annoying. Vector Prime returns to Cybertron following some adventures on Earth and meets with Alpha Trion, whom is also trying to help out with the mission by summoning Sentinel Maximus (from the Universe: Wreckers comics/prose) to aid them, and informs them that Ramjet has escaped his jail.
Before anything can happen however Ramjet and Nemesis Prime attack them, and badly injures Alpha Trion and damages Vector Sigma before leaving.

Alpha Trion is placed in a CR chamber for repairs, and Vector Prime explains that Ramjet was imprisoned eons ago and that Nemesis Prime was once an Optimus Prime who was corrupted by Unicron in the past. Elsewhere Scorponok's corpse is revived and he is turned into an Energon-hungry zombie. Also, Skyfall arrives on the planet from Velocitron in his shuttle and immediately comes across a hoard of Scrapmetals and Dark Scorponok. Ramjet and Nemesis Prime continue their plot to use the Dead Matrix, held inside Nemesis to destroy Primus' spark on this Cybertron, and then use the Singularity to spread that death across all realities and destroy Primus everywhere.

Skyfall manages to use his forcefield powers to defend against Dark Scorponok's attacks, but is defeated when a building is detonated nearby and collapses on top of them. Ramjet's Mini-Cons approach Scorponok and offer him more fuel if he comes with them, taking him to the Energon reserves in Kalis, where Sentinel Maximus and Vector Prime have just arrived too, thus a battle ensues.
Elsewhere, Skyfall, having freed himself is found by Ramjet who says that he knows who Skyfall really is (which Skyfall doesn't) and will tell him if he helps him out

Scorponok gets the upper hand in his battle with Sentinel Maximus, but is killed when an unknown ally shoots Scorponok with the Auto-Guns, afterwards Downshift contacts them over the communicators calling for help, the two use Vector Prime's sword to warp over there, and join the battle before Downshift can be killed.

Vector Prime and Ramjet fly off, smashing out of the planet and into the atmosphere for their battle, whilst Sentinel Maximus chases Nemesis Prime through the tunnels, but is trapped under rubble, allowing Nemesis Prime to enter Primus' spark chamber and opens the Dead Matrix....
Revelations Plot
Vector Prime manages to take down Ramjet using his Cyber Key Power and destabilizes him, Skyfall sees this and screams out in protest as he needs him for information. Inside Primus' spark chamber Nemesis Prime is attacked by a newly arrived Omega Prime (from Robots in Disguise) who splits apart to deal with this situation.
Above, Vector Prime is about to seal Ramjet in a prison again when Skyfall appears and tries to defend him, but when Ramjet tries to use Skyfall's shield too it overloads and sends him hurtling into the prison anyway. In the chamber again Optimus Prime uses his Matrix to fix the damage caused by Nemesis Prime's Dead Matrix whilst Magnus is beating down the evil Prime, afterwards Sentinel Maximus breaks free of the rubble and the three start to talk.

Later, everyone regroups and Optimus and Magnus explain how they were on their way back to their own dimension following the destruction of the Unicron they were on during the Universe Conflict, but were transported here for some reason. Vector Prime is about to reveal to the others who Skyfall is, and why he is so important to keep safe, when suddenly he is transported away. The transporter reveals himself as Over-Run, the former leader of the Mini-Cons who died by Starscream's hand a few years ago, but was able to upload his mind into Cybertron itself, and that he was the one who killed Scorponok before.
Vector Prime has returned to Earth, where he rejoins the mission, and Over-Run asks the others to help him to fix Cybertron, and Vector Sigma, and to also place the Dead Matrix from Nemesis Prime into the rare items locker.

Later, Soundwave sends Laserbeak into the locker and retrieves the Dead Matrix and flings it into the black hole, freeing Unicron's spark. The spark flies into the planet Yst, where his presence corrupts the planet and it's inhabitants, turning them cannibal until the planet dies and explodes over time, creating a new body for Unicron, freeing him.

Later, Sentinel and Skyfall are fixing Vector Sigma and Over-Run shows Skyfall an image he found that seems to resemble him, with another figure from over 25 million cycles ago, during their investigations and repairs they receive a message from the Mini-Con Anti-Blaze who says there's some Decepticon and Decepticon-allied Mini-Cons causing problems at an Energon Mining Facility.
The Autobots agree to help and head to the mining asteroids above Cybertron and meets the Mini-Cons who called for help. A battle ensues between the Autobots and Decepticons (and the affiliated Mini-Cons), and the battle is watched by Unicron and Soundwave, who plan to join in too.
During the battle Skyfall encounters the Decepticon Landquake, and both seem to recognize eachother from somewhere. After some more battling between the others Unicron appears and starts slaughtering the Mini-Cons, and revealing that he was responsible for the uprising of the bad Mini-Cons here. The battle goes insane with the inclusion of Unicron, but gets stranger when Cybertron starts to fall apart nearby.

Skyfall and Landquake use their Energon based powers to protect themselves from the battle, as they both want to discuss their shared past, however the battle destabilizes the Energon and causes it to explode, seemingly killing the duo, much to the shock of Sentinel Maximus.
The battle continues until Cybertron fully transforms into Primus, and Unicron is scared off.
Later the Autobots meet up with the local Optimus Prime and his team, and learn of Vector Prime's death. The displaced Optimus promises to track down Unicron and defeat him, whilst the Mini-Con Council of Sages plan to take down all the remaining insurgents from the attack earlier, and everyone mourns the death of their pal Skyfall.

Somewhere very, very far away Skyfall and Landquake are spat out of a portal where they are encountered by the Megatron of the Classicsverse.

Notes
  • This is the IDW collection of the first 2 years of TFCC comics, to make it easier for me I'm just combining them here, especially since it's one big storyline
  • It turns out Vector Prime has witnessed and intervened whenever a cataclysmic event occurs, such as when the Predacon Megatron tried to kill Optimus Prime whilst sleeping
  • This story implies that the Cybertron TV series is actually a sequel to the Armada and Energon Dreamwave comic, with Over-Run's involvement, and also shows his fate from that aborted series
  • This story also shows that with Unicron's death the Unicron nodule from the Universe series (also aborted) just died as well, and so all the captured Transformers escape through a Space Bridge.
  • The "bad" Mini-Cons appear to be using the Energon weapons generated by the Terrorcons
  • Scrapmetals might be Terrorcons as well, considering what Ramjet says
  • The Mini-con who was with Landquake when he's introduced is unnamed, but was probably his Mini-Con partner.
  • Downshift's drastically different bodies from the Energon and Cybertron lines are explained here as being because he was so badly injured in his earlier body, that he needed to reformat for repairs.
  • Here's a confusing thing, the Mini-Con insurgents are made up of Mini-Cons that were from both Autobots and Decepticons in the Cybertron toyline, and also include a Skyblast as well!

IDW - The Reign of Starscream

Plot
In the past, the Allspark is launched into space and Megatron pursuits, shortly afterward the Autobots follow. Dreadwind follows, but is caught in a minefield left by the Autobots, and is badly injured along with the Decepticon's ship, Scorponok is sent out to recover Dreadwind, and the ship is forced back to Cybertron for repairs, whilst the Autobots fly away.
Later, the Allspark lands on Earth and Megatron crashes and is caught in ice. The Autobots start sending out scouts to hunt for the Allspark, and the Decepticons land their ship on Mars. A team of Decepticons head to Earth where they start hunting for the Allspark, upon arrival they take on alternate modes, but Wreckage is seemingly killed during a confrontation with some humans and he's buried. After a while the events of the previous comic occur and Screamer watches as all of the other Decepticons, including Megatron, are taken down. Starscream fights off some fighter jets, then learns that Barricade is still alive and goes to meet with him.
Barricade is too injured to help, but he tells Screamer that Frenzy has details about the boy who helped the Autobots, and the Allspark, so Screamer goes to find him, which brings him to Hoover Dam where he's confronted with some S7 guys.

Starscream is attacked by the humans, but decides to fly into the base to recover Frenzy, who died during the battle for Mission City, whilst Agent Salazar is heading towards the base. In the base, Screamer finds Frenzy and kills some scientists to get him back. Upon leaving the base, Screamer is confronted by Salazar and his new creation, the LM-1 who tries to transform, but dies out partway, Starscream is intrigued and kidnaps Salazar to learn how he achieved this himself, he takes Salazar into the atmosphere with him, but the human doesn't survive and explodes upon entering space.
Starscream returns to Mars where he's detected by the Autobot Cosmos, who reports this to his team below. Screamer returns to the ship where Thundercracker and the others tend to him, and start downloading Frenzy's brain and confirm that the space bridge they've been working on is complete. Starscream learns from the data he's downloaded that Wreckage has been helping S7 in some way and gets angry, suddenly the ship is attacked by a team of Autobots.

The Autobots under Arcee's command take on the Decepticon's drones and cause a lot of damage, until Thundercracker and Starscream join the battle and start tearing the Autobots apart, and end by leaving them for dead. The Decepticons launch their ship through the space bridge and return to Cybertron.
On Earth, Professor Vine is informed of Salazar's disappearance, and say's it doesn't change their overall plans still.
The Decepticon ship returns to the Decepticon City of Trypticon on Cybertron and Screamer informs the Decepticons there (including Dreadwind and Ramjet) that Megatron is dead, and he's their new leader. Soon the Decepticons have captured some Autobots to act as slave labor, and they start building a replica Allspark.

The Autobots continue to build the fake Allspark, whilst Arcee appears, having snuck aboard the Decepticon ship and starts looking for a way to stop Screamer in whatever he's doing. Starscream keeps trying to figure out what Wreckage told the humans when he's told that the Allspark is completed. He calls a meeting outside the building site, where he reveals that he's going to use the Autobot workers to power the Allspark for him, as well as the annoying Decepticon Crankcase as well.
Arcee meets up with Clocker, and joins up with his resistance group, they head to Trypticon, where they see the horrifying sight of several Transformers being strung up to the fake Allspark, whilst a huge crew surrounds it, led by Starscream and his crew.

The Autobot resistance make their plans to stop Starscream in his mad scheme, but are too late to save the restrained guys, who are all drained of energy, but the Allspark doesn't work as planned, which is when Starscream noticed several of the Decepticons turn their guns on him, Dreadwind and Ramjet have started a revolution, right at the right moment, as Arcee shoots the Allspark's power source and blows it up. It's now all out war between the 3 groups. Ramjet is killed by Crossohairs. Starscream goes after Dreadwind,a nd ends up killing Divebomb as well, the duo end up going through the space bridge again, just as Arcee's team cause Trypticon to explode and Thundercracker goes off into space to find Starscream again.
Dreadwind arrives on Mars, where he is killed immediately by Starscream, and the space bridge explodes as well. Starscream looks towards Earth and starts his preparations for his next plan.

Notes
  • This is set during the launch of the Allspark, briefly sums up some of the last scenes of the Movie, and shows the events set just after it from Starscream's POV.
  • One van features the word "Latta" which was Starscream's G1 counterpart's voice actor
  • The Landmine drone shown here are S7 created robots, not the real Landmine (though since Landmine himself never appears in these comics, they could just be all there are.
  • Two vehicles using Longarm and Salvage's vehicle modes are seen in the S7 carpool, since we later see Longarm and Salvage in the DOTM comics, these are even just coincidences, or these are the real guys who came to Earth as well, but captured by S7 after the battle
  • Dreadwind and Starscream's exchange on Mars is taken from the G1 Movie where Starscream throws Megatron out of Astrotrain
  • Smokescreen is shown being killed in this comic, but he reappears in later comics, alive and well (for a while)
  • Starscream's plan in this is to create an artificial Allspark by using the sparks of the dead Transformers to power it, this of course wouldn't create an Allspark, but would act as a token of leadership really.

Plot
Ultra Magnus and the rest of Grimlock's team of Decepticon hunters have arrived in orbit of Earth (in the Graviton) where they have detected several of Bludgeon's Decepticons on the planet, including Bug Bite and prepare to take them down.
On the planet, Bug Bite and his crew are waiting around for them to be discovered by some of Megatron's Decepticons, and track them as being a few hours away.
Elsewhere again, Optimus Prime and his team return to base after being trounced by Devastator and having Cliffjumper disappear (he jumped to the Shattered Glass Universe). Rodimus is badly injured and needs immediate repairs. Springer contacts Grimlock, who is part of Optimus' crew on Earth, and tells him about their mission, which Grimlock decides to join in on. Mirage gets a bit suspicious, so he goes into his invisible form and follows the Dinobot.
Starscream, Skywarp and Ramjet arrive at Bug Bite's camp and they discuss what Bug Bite is doing on Earth, since he's loyal to Bludgeon, not Megatron, Bug Bite lies and says he has beneficial information for Megatron, when the Decepticons notice somethin gin the bushes.
Grimlock lost Mirage at some point and met up with Magnus and the others. They are watching the meeting from a distance and they watch the Decepticons find Mirage, and watch as Bug Bite plants cerebro shells on the new-comer Decepticons, putting them under his command. The Decepticons fly off with Mirage as a "gift" for Megatron. Grimlock has Swoop follow the Decepticons so they don't lose them.
Megatron is sitting in the ruins of the Ark talking to the head of Shockwave, which is connected to the computers, and learns that Bug Bite appeared mysteriously just after they crashed the Ark the second time. Megatron considers bringing Bug Bite into his fold as he's a good technician.
The Decepticons arrive at the Ark with Swoop and Elita in pursuit, who have found the base and entrance. Inside the ship, Bug Bite greets Megatron, then orders his mind-slaves to attack Megatron and those loyal to him.
Outside, Elita and Ravage get into a fight, with Elita quickly winning. Inside again Megatron's troops have been taken over by Bug Bite's cerebro shells, and even Megatron has been implanted with one too, which Bug Bite uses to make him stay still and listen to him. Bug Bite reveals that he's actually a Go-Bot from another universe and that the Classics Universe has destroyed his one, and he's there for revenge.
The Autobots sneak into the ship and start disabling the systems. Megatron attacks Bug Bite, revealing that he's not susceptible to Mind Control. Bug Bite orders his slaves to attack him, but Elita activates a jammer, which deactivates the Cerebro Shells, freeing all the slaves. Megatron orders those loyal to him to attack Bug Bite's crew and a battle begins.
The Autobots break into the ship distracting Megatron, who simply throws away Bug Bite, during the battle several Decepticons either die or get badly injured, with Megatron even blasting the head off of Bug Bite. Springer destroys the ship's computers, and the team rescueMirage, and then leave for safety, with Megatron vowing to kill all Autobots one day.

Later, Grimlock and his team return to the Graviton and inform Optimus of their work, and promise to return to Earth once Bludgeon and his troops are defeated, with that the Graviton leaves the system for further adventures.

Notes
  • This is part of the "Classics" universe, that was introduced storywise in Crossing Over, and in terms of toyline in the titular Classics toy line. As such most of the characters here use Classics toys as their character models. This storyline is later continued in Invasion, where this universe is destroyed.
  • This continuity is a possible future for the Marvel US comic series
  • Elita One's character model was later used as the basis for a toy for her in Botcon 2009 as an add-on set with Razorclaw
  • Weirdly, despite this being a comic to advertise the Botcon set for this year, some of the set's toys aren't used very well (a very notable case is with Huffer who is in the story for about 2 pages, and then goes away)
  • Starscream's small group of Seekers were the only ones released in the mass-market, with the Botcon additions being with Bug Bite (of course all the Botcon Seekers were later released on the mass-market as well later)
  • It's not clear which Seeker was killed in the battle on the Ark, but since Dirge tends to die normally, I'll just say it's him.
  • Bug Bite and Weirdwolf get badly hurt in this story, it's later shown that they survived by Dreadwind taking both to their ship to be repaired, Weirdwolf gets put in a CR chamber, and Bug Bite is revealed to have a back-up brain in his body, not his head, so he merely puts on a new head.
  • Gee I hope Grimlock and his crew returned to Earth before the rest of their universe was destroyed by (evil) Ultra Magnus.
  • Weirdly, despite them making a big deal about taking on Earth Modes at the start of the story, none of the Autobots seem to transform in this story....
  • Darkwing is mentioned here, he later received a toy in the Universe toyline, which is a sequel toyline to Classics

IDW - The New Avengers/The Transformers

Plot
The Avengers have been called to Latveria to investigate the increased hostilities between their people and the neighboring country of Symkaria, and to investigate a strange radiation signal from the country. They find a large dome-like building glowing and surrounded by deactivated Doombots. Several strange jets are seen flying around and airdropping Symkaria, which is provoking a reaction from the other country, who promise to retaliate within 24 hours if it doesn't stop.
The Avengers start to act a bit irrational and angry, and break into the building where they are scanned by unknown forces and are attacked and experimented  on by the weapons. The unknown forces decide that Spider-Man is the perfect sample to take for their Mirror Response Mode and stun him, then a black car drives out of a wall and kidnaps him. The Avengers try to get him back, but can't find him, so they leave the building to recuperate. Once outside, the building is surrounded by a forcefield that they can't break through. Captain America calls in for reinforcements to help them, due to Luke Cage and Wolverine's failures.
The Avengers are being monitored by the Autobots from their ship and decide to travel to Latveria and help to stop this incident, since it's clearing Decepticon in design.
Inside the Domed building, Spider-Man is held in restraints and greeted by Megatron, who starts prodding him for his blood. Outside, Falcon and Ms Marvel arrive and everyone is at eachother's throats. The Autobots arrive on the scene (having oribital jumped there) and tell the humans to leave it to them, transforming to robot mode in the process. The Avengers attack the Autobots, as they are being affected by the Array in the building, making them angrier and more agitated.
The Autobots and Avengers fight, with the Autobots using minimal force so as to not kill the humans, the fight seems fairly even, but Doom arrives and uses his electric abilities to attack Wolverine and reduce his anger. Ratchet manages to get a device onto Captain America's back which calms him down too. Doom explains that the Avengers have been under the influence of a Mind-Altering Device, which Dooms powers can reduce, and Ratchet's devices reduce the anger inducing chemicals. Slowly the Avengers are all equipped with the devices and the Autobots explain briefly about their war with the Decepticons and that the array building is of their design, Doom explains that the array has been enhanced due to his Psycho-Prism, which was stolen by the Decepticons from Doom's lab and he says he wants to stop them as they're affecting his own people. Iron Man is on his way to the scene and verifies that the devices are safe to use.
Inside the array building, the Decepticons are being powered up by Spider-Man's blood synthesized into Energon, except for Ramjet, whom Megatron doesn't trust due to his ambitions.
The Autobots and Avengers try to break into the building, but are without luck. Doom goes off alone so he can try diplomacy with the Symkarians. The Decepticons suddenly leave the building and start attacking the Avengers and Autobots full on with their enhanced powers, and suddenly Iron Man arrives, in a giant suit.
The Giant Iron Man turns the tide of the battle clearly in favor of the Autobots and Avengers, but the suit is very power-inefficient. The Avengers and Autobots assist Iron Man in the battle, but the Decepticons are still able to fight back somewhat. Ratchet think's he's found a weakness in the forcefield, it needs to open to enable the Decepticons in and out. Blitzwing exits the building, and Ratchet, Prowl and Luke Cage enter the base whilst the forcefield is partially down. Prowl tells Ratchet that their only mission is to destroy the Psycho-Prism, Spider-Man is expendable, which Luke is a bit miffed, Prowl allows Ratchet and Luke to look for Spider-Man whilst he goes to "save the world" alone. Ratchet tells Luke that Prowl's a bit annoyed since Optimus has removed him from command with his arrival on Earth.
Ratchet and Luke find Spider-Man's holding room, but are attacked by Megatron, elsewhere, Prowl finds Ramjet in the room with the Psycho-Prism in it, but before he can grab it, he is attacked from an unseen assailant.
Outside the battle continues, and Iron Man is running low on power, the Autobots offer up some of their energy to recharge him, which gives him enough power to blast some of the Decepticon jets out of the sky. After this small victory Megatron appears on a holographic message, alongside his new ally, Dr Doom, who have defeated Luke, Prowl and Ratchet, and Megatron reveals that Doom has sold out the rest in exchange for becoming ruler over the remains of Earth after they drain it of life, and tells Optimus and the others to surrender now or their people will die.
Optimus' response is to resume destroying the array immediately, and reveals a plan to the humans to rescue their allies. Inside the array, Megatron is angry with Doom for assuming the Autobots and Avengers would surrender, and attacks him with his enhanced powers, and leaves him behind in the base as he leaves with Luke in his hands (probably to act as a human shield).
Inside the array, Spider-Man breaks free of his restraints, fully recovered due to his accelerated healing, and Doom blasts Astrotrain in the back, knocking him out. The two humans find Ratchet and Prowl, the two Autobots explain who they are to Spider-Man, and ask him to help them out.
Megatron is battling everyone outside, and is easily winning the battle and even manages to decapitate the Iron Man giant suit, when suddenly Megatron realizes that none of the other Autobots are around.
Jazz, Bumblebee and Wolverine use the Oribital Jump to enter the array so they can find Ratchet and the others, they break into the lab where they find Spider-Man being used to power up Prowl, Wolverine donates his blood for Ratchet to use, so Spider-Man wont be drained. Doom leads the team, minus Spider-Man, Prowl and Ratchet to where the Psycho-Prism is.
Outside, Megatron is getting ready to finish off Iron Man, when Prowl, Ratchet and Spider-Man use the Orbital Jump to escape the array and everyone gangs up on Megatron (and due to the powered up Autobots they take a lead).
Inside the array, the team find Ramjet about to steal the Psycho-Prism, but he gives up after seeing the superior numbers of the Autobots and Avengers, and so he flies off. Wolverine destroys the Prism, and the aggression wave is gone, and the array starts to explode.
Outside, the battlers witness the destruction of the array just as those who were inside escape, Megatron activates an Orbital Jump system and sends his Decepticons back to home base and gives up on Latveria. The Auobots and Avengers continue their attacks on Megatron, but he Orbital Jumps away before he is killed and promises to kill Optimus one day soon....
In the aftermath the team wonder what happened to Doom as he wasn't seen leaving, and they learn from SHIELD that the crisis has been averted, and they want to debrief the Avengers and Autobots on the situation, however the Autobots have disappeared and returned to Ark-19, their base.
Later, as the Quinjet takes off to leave Latveria, the Autobots are monitoring them, and both groups get the feeling that the Quinjet is acting differently (implying that it's Ramjet in disguise)

The End? (yes, it is the end)

Notes
  • Spider-Man has been in a crossover with the Transformers before, way back in the early days of the Marvel Comic days
  • Most of the Transformers seem to be in character models based on their toys or cartoon character models. This is mostly noticeable with Ramjet, who looks like his toy, and is therefore missing his conehead.
  • Ramjet was most likely originally written in as Starscream due to his characterizations, but was altered when it was made clear that Starscream was incapacitated by Megatron in Infiltration (set just before this story)
  • Ramjet has only just arrived on Earth, explaining why he's randomly just appeared (and then he goes and get's himself killed in his Spotlight issue, set a very short time later)
  • Where were the Avengers during Megatron's all-out invasion of Earth?
  • The Decepticons causing Xenophobia between different countries is shown again in Escalation. In this case they use an array to artificially augment the anger, which affects Meta-Humans more that normal humans.
  • Ratchet can deploy his steering wheel's airbag as a weapon if needed
  • This story is set during Sunstreaker and Ironhide's mission to return the Humans back home, as evidenced by none of them being seen here.
  • Ms Marvel saw several planets drained of life in her time in space, a result of Decepticon attacks...yet never saw any Transformers before now it seems, despite the Transformers being well known in the outer-universe.
  • When there are planets with Meta-Humans on them, the Decepticons activate the Mirror-Response, which basically means they kidnap a Meta-Human and mimic their powers etc to aid them.
  • Iron Man has a Transformer-sized suit because he heard rumours about giant robots hiding on Earth, most likely the same sources that Hunter used.
  • Why is Luke Cage telling Wolverine to "represent X-Men Style" when he is not an X-Man himself?
  • Autobots can use power cables to power up other machines, as shown with them powering up Iron Man's giant suit
  • *GASP* The evil Doom was in fact working with Megatron all along!? Who could have suspected that?!...wait....
  • Iron Man wa sinside his normal suit, inside his giant suit (much like how Crankcase would use a larger robot suit (the Cybernaut) in MTMTE8 many years later.
  • It's implied that Ramjet takes on the form of the Quinjet at the end of this story...this is never brought up again!
