IDW - Revenge of the Fallen Adaptation

Plot

Thousands of years ago on Earth, The Fallen wages a war against his brothers, The Primes over the Star Harvester on the planet, as The Fallen plans to use it to destroy the sun and take it's energy for himself. (wonder who won?)

Back in the present day NEST and their Autobot allies chase two Decepticons, Sideways and Demolishor across Shanghai Optimus takes down Demolishor, who then warns Optimus that the Fallen shall rise again before dying, meanwhile Sideways is killed by Sideswipe. The incident in Shanghai is covered up, which Sam watches on TV.

Sam is packing his bags for college when he finds a shard of the Allspark in the clothes he wore during the Mission City battle and is infused with some energy whilst on the phone with Mikaela. The shard falls through his floor and into the kitchen which brings all the appliances to life, and they attack. Bumblebee, who lives in the garage attacks them, and ends up blowing the house up, leaving Judy furious (as the parents know about the Autobots now). Later Mikaela arrives and Sam gives her the shard, which the Decepticon Wheelie sees and reports. Sam and Bumblebee say goodbye, as he cant take a car to college as a freshman.

Galloway meets with Lennox and his team at the NEST base on Diego Garcia and tells them that the government isn't happy about the damage caused in Shanghai, and Optimus says that if the government asks them to leave then they will, but remind them that the Decepticons still exist on the planet and will go after humans, whether the Autobots are around or not. Soundwave, in orbit, launches Ravage to Diego Garcia, which he learned to be where the Allspark shard is, and also learns where Megatron was dumped in the ocean. Elsewhere, Sam moves into his college dorm and starts meeting his new classmates including Leo and Alice.

Ravage infiltrates NEST and steals the Allspark shard, later Sam goes to a party with his new friends when he called out by Bumblebee, who takes him to see Optimus. He tells Sam that the government believes the Decepticon attacks are the Autobot's fault and that the Allspark shard has been stolen and they need his help for realations.

Elsewhere Ravage and some other Decepticons, including Scalpel use the Allspark Shard to revive Megatron.

Megatron flies off to the crashed Nemesis on another planet where he meets with Starscream and talks with The Fallen in his dimension. Megatron is told that Sam now holds the power of the Allspark within him, and they need him for their ultimate plan to find the Matrix to power the harvester.

In school, Sam starts feeling the effects of the Allspark by assimilating knowledge too fast and starts overloading. Sam calls Mikaela about this and during the call Wheelie tries to steal her shard from the safe, but she stops him and tells Sam that she's coming to his school.

NEST detect multiple Decepticon attacks in America and send out some troops to deal with them. At Princeton Alice tries to seduce Sam and is revealed to be a Decepticon, Mikaela and Leo arrive just as Alice is trying to strangle him with her tongue, and the three of them escape in a car they steal after a short chase through the school. Alice chases the car, but Mikaela drives into her, knocking her away, however Grindor appears from nowhere and catches the car, hauling it away with him.

Sam is taken to a warehouse where Scalpel prepares to cut out his brain for them to use when  Bumblebee and Optimus appear and kill the doctor and fight off the Decepticons. Optimus drives off with Sam whilst Bumblebee takes Leo and Mikaela. Optimus ends up in a forest where he fights off Megatron, Starscream and Grindor whilst trying to protect Sam but ends up being killed by Megatron. Before Megatron can get to Sam though the other Autobots arrive and Bumblebee takes the Humans away with the Twins into hiding.

Megatron hacks the satellite feeds and addresses the Earth and orders them to find Sam for him, or he'll start destroying the world. Sam's parents in France (on their world tour) are kidnapped by some Decepticons.

Whilst on the run Sam decides he needs help, Leo suggests they go see someone who hacked his website and seems to know all about the symbols he keeps seeing in his head. The person they go to see turns out to the former Agent Simmons, who tells them that the Transformers have been on Earth for some time now, and shows them pictures of those symbols found across the planet, and even photos of some vehicles who they believe to be Transformers too.

The humans tell Wheelie (whom Mikaela had stuffed in a toll box after their fight) to help them find one of these old Transformers, and he directs them to the Smithsonian, where their Allspark shard launches itself towards a blackbird jet, which reconfigures into the now elderly Jetfire, a Decepticon who decided to defect some time ago. Sam shows Jetfire the symbols, which Jetfire interprets as clues to finding the Matrix, he then transports himself, the Autobots and Humans to Egypt via a space bridge, once there he explains who The Fallen is and that he planned to destroy Earth, so his former brothers turned their bodies into a tomb to hide the Matrix, the only thing that can reactivate the harvester, from The Fallen. He sends Sam and the others on a mission to find it, as it's power can also be used to revive Optimus.

Elsewhere, NEST is disbanded after recent events and Galloway prepares to escort them back to Diego Garcia. In Egypt Sam is noticed by the local intelligence agencies, and Soundwave learns he's there. Sam works out where Jetfire's clues for the Matrix's location lead to and calls Lennox's wife to get a secret message to her husband to ask for military assistance.

Sam and the others arrive at Petra and find the Tomb of the Primes and Sam grabs the Matrix, which turns to dust, Sam refuses to give up and gathers the dust up into a sock as they hear the military jets arriving nearby. NEST hijack the plane their on, and force Galloway out of the plane elsewhere as the team airdrops to the location Sam sent to them.

Megatron and the Decepticons arrive in Egypt as well and start attacking Sam and his group, and the NEST guys too. Soundwave is in orbit hacking the surveillance images and edits them to remove the Decepticons. Sam and Mikaela run off through the ruins with the Matrix dust whilst Bumblebee and the others create diversions. Nearby, The Fallen arrives from his dimension and lands on top of a pyramid

The Fallen order Megatron and the Decepticons to find the Matrix before Optimus can be revived with it. Sam and Mikaela and found by Rampage, who reveals that he has Sam's parents hostage. Elsewhere the Twins, Simmons and Leo see Devastator begin his attack on a pyramid. Sam's parents are rescued by Bumblebee who kills Rampage in the process and takes them away to safety.

Devastator's attack on the pyramid reveals that the harvester was hidden beneath it, Simmons manages to contact a US ship that holds a rail gun weapon on board and helps them to target it towards Devastator, whilst the Twins fight the giant monster, elsewhere Sam and Mikaela meet up with the army guys and Jetfire arrives at the battle, taking out some Decepticons easily, but eventually gets mortally wounded by Scorponok. Sam makes a run for it and tries to use the Matrix on Optimus, but he's caught in a blast and killed.

Whilst dead, Sam sees the Dynasty of Primes who tell him that he has proven himself as a true leader, and is worthy of the Matrix, so they revive him. The Matrix reforms and Sam uses it on Optimus, reviving him as well. The Fallen teleports nearby and steals the Matrix from Sam, and returns to the harvester, Jetfire offers his body to create an upgrade for Opitmus to allow him to fly, so Ratchet gets to work.

The Rail Gun weapon kills Devastator as Optimus arrives and destroys the harvester. Optimus reveals to Megatron that a Prime cannot be created (as The Fallen promised Megatron) but has to be born. Megatron is disillusioned and turns against The Fallen, and leaves through one of The Fallen's own space bridges as Optimus kills The Fallen himself.

In the aftermath the humans and Autobots return home and wonder about the future, as Megatron, on the Nemesis looks over his newly born army of hatchlings, and begins his preparations....

• Again, some details have been changed for speed/ease of reading/add older details from the script etc
• Megatron knowing where The Fallen's ship is, is explained in Defiance where he visits him during the Allspark hunt.
• The vine thingies that attack The Fallen at the end are very random...no one seems to know what they are...(I blame Quintessons)
• The end of this story shows the Hatchlings being born, which were omitted from the movie version, but are a plot point in DOTM.
• The scene where Arcee and her sisters were injured in Egypt was omitted here, but is referenced in later stories
• Likewise Ravage's death wasn't shown here, but was shown in a later story as happening here

IDW - Movie Adaptation

Plot

Megatron is found in the Arctic Circle by Captian Witwicky, and he shoots a laser at the human, which scorches his glasses and blinds him. Decades later an unidentified helicopter lands in the Qatar base and turns into a giant robot, destroying the faciltiy, leaving a small group to escape with an image of him. The robot, Blackout sends out Scorponok to hunt down the survivors.

Elsewhere, in Tranquility Sam Witwicky buys an old Camaro, with a strange insignia on the steering wheel. In Qatar, the army guys look at the image and head out to find some way to warn the US about this attack, not knowing Scorponok is behind them. In Tranquility, Sam goes to the lake in his car, and starts bonding with Mikaela.

Frenzy, on Air Force One hacks into the military database and manages to get most of the data whilst also planting a virus and learns of the name Archibald Witwicky, all whilst killing some secret service guys. Sam's car goes out for a drive on it's own, which Sam follows, assuming it's being stolen, which leads him to find the car turning into a robot (Bumblebee), which is sending out a signal into the sky. Sam is attacked by some dogs, but Bumblebee rescues him, and goes into hiding before the police arrive, who believe Sam broke into the area.

Air Force One lands and Frenzy meets up with Barricade, telling him about Witwicky, and they track down Sam Witwicky, his descendant, whom has just been released from the police. In Qatar the team approaches a town when they are attacked by Scorponok, who kills some of the team, they make it to the town where they call in for help with an airstrike which blasts Scorponok, tearing off his tail, whilst he escapes.

Later, Barricade arrives in Tranquility, having tracked down Sam, whom is being followed by Bumblebee, freaking him out, Mikaela see's this and goes to see what's going on. Barricade catches Sam in a building and transforms, beginning to ask him where the glasses are (which he learned of through Sam's sales page on Ebay). San runs away and runs into Mikaela, both of them are rescued by Bumblebee who fights off the Decepticon in robot mode. Barricade sends out Frenzy to deal with the humans, afte a short battle, Frenzy is decapitated by Mikaela, whilst Barricade is thrown down a hole by Bumblebee.

Frenzy's head wakes up and it scans Mikaela's phone, taking it's place, whilst Bumblebee takes Sam and Mikaela  with him. On the way, Bumblebee updates his alternate mode to a more modern version of a Camaro, when they see the other Autobots arrive on the planet in their comet forms. The Autobots take on their local alternate modes and meet up with Bumblebee and his human friends.

Optimus introduces the Autobots to the humans, and gives them a quick history lesson about Megatron and the Allspark, and tell Sam that his glasses hold the location to the Allspark that Megatron engraved on them. On the way home from Qatar, the survivors of the base attack realize that the sabot rounds are the only thing able to damage these things, and send that info to home base.

Sam returns home with the Autobots hiding around outside his house, causing some havoc, like damaging power lines etc, he finds the glasses, but Sector Seven appear and arrest him and his family. Frenzy's virus kicks in, and causes an information blackout on Earth, Sam and Mikaela are rescued by the Autobots from Sector Seven, but during the escape, Sam, Mikaela and Bumblebee are captured again, the Autobots find the glasses on the floor and Optimus decides to unite the Allspark with his spark if he cannot get it away from the Decepticons otherwise.

At the Pentagon, Keller is told all about S7 and the Transformers and has everyone involved in these events sent to Hoover Dam. Frenzy arrives at the dam in Mikaela's bag and escapes, sending out a call to the other Decepticons to come to his location. Everyone taken to Hoover Dam are brought to see Megatron's frozen body, where it's revealed that he's the source of all modern technology is derived from Megatron, and they learn that the Allspark is also there.

After a short while, the Decepticons arrive at the dam and attacks it. Megatron wakes up and goes looking for the Allspark. Bumblebee is freed from captivity, and he contracts the Allspark to a smaller form, and takes it with several Humans for safety into a city nearby. Megatron meest up with his Decepticons and has them chase Bumblebee. Barricade is knocked out on the highway, and Bonecrusher is killed by Optimus on the way. In the city, Lennox calls in for help in extracting the cube whilst a huge battle begins. 

Bumblebee's legs are blasted off by Starscream and Megatron kills Jazz, before engaging Optimus in battle, Sam is given the Allspark to take to a high building for extraction, but is chased by Decepticons, Megatron fends off Optimus and then goes after Sam, smashing through buildings to get to him. Elsewhere, Bumblebee and Mikaela team up and manage to kill Brawl whilst Lennox uses a rocket launcher to kill Blackout.

Megatron corners Sam and the Allspark and smashes them off a building. Optimus catches him, but Megatron approaches them again, thinking fast though Sam thrusts the Allspark into Megatron's spark, killing him.

In the aftermath everyone is happy, despite Jazz's death, and Sam and Mikaela start to date. Sector 7 is decided to be disbanded at some point later, and the dead Transformers are dropped into the ocean. Optimus then sends out a message to the stars for any remaining Autobots out there to come to Earth.

• Being an adaptation, this comic basically follows the plot of the 2007 movie, but edits it to work better as a comic, some plot lines and characters were removed, like Glenn and Maggie's parts.
• As well as this, some scenes are edited to speed them up, or seem to be based on earlier concepts etc.
• Frenzy's fate is shown in Reign of Starscream

IDW - Movie Prequel

Plot

The Allspark is launched into space by the Autobots, and after a while Bumblebee follows, knowing that the Autobots have to find it before the Decepticons do. Before it was launched, Bumblebee led a team including Arcee in a battle against the Decepticons at Simfur, as a distraction for Optimus and his crew, but the Autobots are losing, especially when Megatron arrives, and the Autobots fall into a hole in the ground. Down below, the Autobots are followed by Decepticons, so Bumblebee has his team blast the roof, to make it fall in on all of them, and they do.

Later, Bumblebee wakes up, now restrained to the rubble with Arcee and witness Swindle killing one of his men for information on where the Allspark is. Swindle gets ready to go to Bumblebee next, but Megatron enters the room and takes on the interrogation himself, tearing off his arm and damaging his voice box, before the ground starts shaking and Megatron sees the Allspark being launched into space, he gives chase to it.

Later the Autobots rescue the survivors and Bumblebee is hailed as a hero for being able to delay Megatron as much as he was able to, Bumblebee's arm is fixed, but his voice box is too badly damaged.

Megatron follows the Allspark to Earth, but ends up in the Arctic, but due to his body being heated up from reentry he melts the ice around him and falls below, freezing underneath.

In 1897 Captain Witwicky leads a mission to the Arctic Circle where he finds the "Ice-Man" and goes insane and blind. Later, he's taken to a hospital where Walter Simmons and Theodore Wells interview him and decide to take a look at the situation, forming Sector 7, they release his possessions to his family, including his glasses (which Megatron inscribed with the Allspark's location).

Over time, the Arctic becomes an excavation site for Sector 7 to retrieve Megatron's body, a few years later, Sector 7 find the Allspark, which they know is connected to Megatron due to similar symbols on them both, just over 100 years later Bumblebee arrives on the planet as part of the Autobot's search team, his arrival is detected by Sector 7.

By 1924 Captain Witwicky was institutionalized at Baton Rouge, where he screams about aliens and about the future where they are fighting in a city. By 1925 Hoove Dam has been built around the Allspark, and plans are being made for Megatron to be moved to the facility.

In 2003 S7 investigate the area Bumblebee landed in in Virginia and realize that he's already left in a disguise, which they work out to be an older Camaro model, based on surveillance footage. Bumblebee starts his search for the Allspark, meanwhile, Sam Witwciky is given Captain Witwicky's old artifacts as a gift, which he's not that interested in, but wonders if he can sell them. S7 begin a plan to track down Bumblebee.

Bumblebee uses the internet to research extraterrestrial sightings and finds information on Captain Witwicky, and takes that as a lead, S7 continue with their plan, whilst on Mars Starscream and his team arrive and destroy the Mars Rover and prepare to head to Earth.

On Earth, the Decepticons attack some Earth vehicles and take them on as disguises and then begin their search for the Allspark and Megatron in turn.

Sector 7 use a container with some energy similar to the Allspark's as bait for Bumblebee to hunt it down so they can catch him as a bunker in New Mexico. Meanwhile, Bumblebee arrives at Baton Rouge, but finds it dilapidated and leaves, two days later, S7 are still waiting, when Bumblebee picks up the "Allspark's" signature and heads towards it.

Whilst waiting for Bumblebee to appear, they get a shock when several aliens appear (in vehicle mode) and realize it's not really the Allspark, so they attack the base. The Decepticons try to hack into S7's network, as they believe that since they know about the Allspark, they would know where it is, and maybe Megatron, but S7 break the connection, stopping the hack. Blackout and Starscream leave, whilst Barricade takes up chasing Bumblebee.

All the pieces come together, ready for the real events to begin four years later...

Notes

• This story is a prequel to the (then) upcoming 2007 Transformers Movie
• The events before and after this comic are built up upon in the later prequel stories
• Something to note here, Ironhide is totally missing from this story, but Arcee plays a main role in the first part, possibly a hang-over from when she was a character in the film instead of Ironhide
• The Mars Rover scene is re-made in this comic as well
• It's later shown that the Nemesis is on Mars as well...it's lucky that the rover didn't get a chance to photograph it, huh?
• Several vehicles seen in this comic are cameos to G1 characters, like Bumblebee, Ironhide and Optimus Prime.
